  1. Run some carbon in a fluidised reactor or hang on back filter. This should remove whatever the epoxy released. Then the skimmer should return to normal. David
  2. Thanks for posting. Those are beautiful. David

  5. Hello, It's time for an update. I have added to my system a typhoon3 extreme RO/DI with a large acrylic resoiver made by NAGA. And Litre meter III with 2nd pump for auto 2 part addition. The large green milli had to be fragged to save half of the coral from STN. Here are pics of the corals(most of them) click on the picture right below this line for the slide show. The litre meter 3 dosing set up. The 2 glass containers are borosilicate glass from the container store. It is set up to dose 60ml of each part every day. I still need to manually dose magnesium. My little niche in the kitchen - RODI unit and purified water container. Thanks for viewing. David B.

  8. You can use this tool connects to kitchen faucet and will suck up the water and then down the drain http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/group/10554/product.web David
  9. Ok, I will try that. Thanks AWI, david
  10. I won the $50 credit at the frag swap so I will probably use it toward the purchase of a booster pump. What about the TDS alarm? Is it supposed to light up when you press the panel? I wonder if mine is broke. David
  11. Maybe I need a booster pump. GSEDLACK- did you order the one from airwaterice? Thanks, David
  12. Hello, Just got the unit installed yesterday, The white TDS alarm did not light up when I pressed the button, so I changed the batteries and still no light. My tap water TDS are around 168. The dual TDS meter is reading 12 after the RO membrane and 0 after the Deionization filter. Is 12 a good reading? Also My Pressure meter is reading 20. I did use a lot of extra RO tubing between the water line under the sink and the unit. probably 20'. I did flush the unit for 10 minutes before using as the directions said, and 1st gallon of product was disposed of. I want the unit to be automatic but I am cautious. As I am away some days for 12 hours. The directions say that the auto shutoff valve may not work because air bubbles may be in the line. For now I have the valve to feed the unit only on while i can watch it. Is there something I should be doing to make this unit ready for unsupervised running? I do have the float valve installed in my product water storage container. and have found no leaks in the entire installation. Thanks, David B.
  13. Carbon will clean the water of polutants. it will also remove trace elements. Once the carbon is full of polutants(1-2 weeks of use) it will still absorb trace elements. Also products of coral warefare will be removed from the water with carbon(I heard this from somewhere else and am repeating it) I rinse new carbon in RODI water before using in a filter(the carbon actually sizzles in rodi water) I recommend using the magnum 350 canister filter. but a phosban or fluidised media filter will work as well. David B.
  14. its a store in manasas, va www.blueribbonkoi.com David
  15. It is restricted to members only. The only time non members can sell goods on the general forum is when breaking town a tank - getting out of the hobby. David
  16. I use joes juice with all flow off in the tank. This gives it better contact time to hurt the GSP when a few polyps come back treat them again. David
  17. Blue ribbon koi probably has one or two for sale (MCE300) David
  18. I love my deltec skimmers, I have the mce600 on a 30gal tank and an APF600 on my 75g reef display. I negleted cleaning the aquabee pump on the apf600. when I got to it last week calcium biuldup had frozen the Impeller to the shaft. A new Impeller $129.00 a new shaft $10.00. I think if you need to replace the pump its almost 300$. I assume its because its german made and importing parts are expensive. Replacing the impeller in a eheim 1250 was only 29$ Its my own fault for not doing regular maintenence on the pump. The MCE 600 is the best hang on tank skimmer I know of. Breaking in the skimmer is very tricky though. mostly because on a new tank it skimms wet past the point of over filling. No water ends up on the floor though excess skimmate from the cup is returned to the skimmer. It takes about a week to 2 weeks to get it where you want it http://www.wamas.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=21589 David B.
  19. I think it means display tank size David
  20. First a question. Can fire shrimp catch and eat purple fire fish or pipe fish? Here is my trap. It is basically a plastic bottle cut and put together using aquarium silicone to keep it together I am expecting to catch at least bristleworms and maybe hermits. Here it is in the tank with 2 cubes of prime reef for the bait. We will see what happens David B.
  21. Here are some updated pics Happy Reefing, David B.
  22. That was the first thing I checked. There are no bodies. Top is not covered. I prefer open top tanks for better oxygen exchange. David
  23. For now I am staring at the tank whenever I get a chance. Hoping to see something. The are no clicking noises. But I'm not ruling out a mantis shrimp. David B.
