  1. Got the iPhone 10. Fooling around with it. Don’t tell anyone about the WD photo with whites on. Never seen a photo of it with whites on must be illegal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I have an oversized HOB skimmer rated for 100g. It is a 65g tank and pulls great skim. I have tried running a TON of GFO with no changes at all. The Vodka Carbon dosing along with macro suggestion really interests me though. That may be the ticket to throw off these favorable phyto conditions. I also have a large photosynthetic blue sponge I can throw in the mix to help uptake nutrients and filter feed. If nutrients get too low for it I can just put it back in my good tank. Ill also look for good media to put in my HOB suggestions welcome. My current filter media I put in there doesn't filter out any phyto at all.
  3. The light doesnt get good penetration because of the cloudy phyto algae im complaining about. Plus I have tried lights out and completely blue spectrum with low intensity. So thats why it may look like new rock. Some of the rock is pukani from the sump of my other tank.
  4. Compliant: green algae bloom History: 1year long. Goes away with a lot of water Changes or lights out but comes right back. I only keep one damsel and feed VERY lightly. The tank does not get direct sunlight but some will reflect off the flooring. Is a UV sterilizer the only way to fix this? They are expensive and that’s one extra ugly thing to dangle. Would feather dusters filter it out? Clam? Activated carbon? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Maybe to get it started but I feel it’s too expensive. just go to Lowe’s and buy a 6500ish light bulb
  6. Always a very nice feeling getting stuff out of your tank. Rather than taking from the ocean! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Wow! All on their own? They don’t take special care like clownfish babies?
  8. I noticed LA salinity to be 1.017 so a good drip acclimation is in order and can take some patients if you order a lot of fish. Diver den was 1.025. I'll pay for convienence and just have ERC QT if I ever need fish again
  9. A couple years ago I saw a thread on here where someone was culture white worms I couldn't find it. Here is my blackworm thread. http://wamas.org/forums/topic/64196-how-to-raisekeep-blackworms-the-cheap-easy-way/page-2
  10. I have a free top brace for you if it's a 72x18" it's probabaly not worth driving up here for it though
  11. The only thing I have ever scratched my tank with is sand so avoid the heck out of it. I use the magfloat scrape only when removing corraline. It does wear out and I have to replace the blade but I have never seen a blade scratch the glass I am guessing the metal used is softer than glass? Bought mine from our sponsor premium aquatics. I always rinse after use. When moving frag racks I have to be extra careful because the wrasse flings sand on them and all over the place.

  13. Any time man! Check out this damsel in distress. Just before I fragged it up
  14. Get it on a drip doser for alk use regular arm and hammer baking soda it's cheaper. Slap it on an old fashion timer and you will see some extra growth when you stabilize the alk number you pick. Calcium and mag I do in the ATO but that takes a decent amount of testing and manual dosing to keep it up since ATO rates can differ with evapotation rates

  16. If you are near Frederick MD I have some but they aren't as nice as the club ones
  17. Close lol SC orange passion Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I just feel the need to say this crap happens to the best of us. Just buy more corals than you need. In a year you will figure out which ones survive your tank and style. Biodiversity Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I don't test either one. They are un detectable on my API kits. But those kits are known to be in accurate for nitrate and phosphate and they aren't very sensitive. I just watch my coral colors to see where nutrients are at. Especially the cali tort since it's a chameleon. Tends to keep dark colors when higher nutrients and pale when it's too clean. I discovered that my tank was too clean when An auto feeder got stuck full open. Everything almost instantly colored up while I was on vacation. When large tanks are new they have nutrient overload. But then eventually when corals grow out there is a ton of nutrient uptake. It's hard to go from nutrient overload mode to i need to dump in tons of food mode. Or at least hard to recognize for me. 20. Dang. Wow. Should have played the raffle :(
  21. Just make sure you dry the leftover drops of water in the bottom. I have found that they dilute the test sample and throw it off
  22. The corals don't get to eat anything but fish poop. Lucky for the fish the tank runs clean so I have to feed a lot to keep the colors. Other than that I don't dose anything but splash in acro power a few times a month. I'm not sure that even does anything but increase PE. The fish eat a variety of frozen since I have a CBB but they do get some flake once a day. I broke off a huge pice of my rainbow granny today Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I soak it in food grade vinegar once every couple weeks. It removes the build up. Then rinse with a lot of RODI.
  24. Sometimes if the glue soaks up in the sponge it can irritate it a little. So I would go with either a large piece, or I would go with a tiny amount of glue on just a corner of the sponge. On occasion they will come lose. But they do encrust on the plug within a couple weeks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Take my word for it. Take that sucker out into the open air and cut it up With scissors. Then glue it to a dry frag plug. Been doing it that way for 4 years now. I'll send a pic of ones I cut a week ago
