  1. Wow. Nobody needs a dosing pump nearly 50% off?
  2. Yeah, raw oysters are good. As much as I try, I just can't get by without food right? Maybe we should protest the savage unearthing of carrots.
  3. Hi Origami, Sorry to read about your required surgery. We wish you well and a speedy recovery. We will all be here waiting for you when you get back.
  4. Thought I would put this out there. Amazon has the Kamoer 3 Head Dosing pump for $160 through Champion Lighting Supply. It normally runs $300 at Marine Depot.
  5. This is horrible news! So many fish meeting improper fates that I've decided to stick with dead cow!
  6. With DC pumps why don't they make a 4' tall needle wheel skimmer?
  7. I've seen the Gyres in person at my LFS. Gyres hands down. But I'd go with 2 250s.
  8. I'm near Bowie in PG county. I look at the water reports about every other year. I called the county and they do not use chloramines.
  9. Also, it could be underwater and like a ruin/archaeological site.
  10. Very funny, edgy, and adult oriented! MD has had a cool clean up crew at work shirt. I also have a shirt from Incredible Corals that I like. It's a circle logo with their name and a coral in the center. And I have about ten or twelve shirts from our MACNA in DC last year. For me, it's really in the graphic design that it looks good and is fun to wear. I think all the shirts out there convey the reefing message. Considering Origami's posts above, I think a great place for a rough draft would the Capital building with both wings. You could do a lot with the pillars and ornate structure being rockwork with fish hiding in and around pillars and such. Add a starfish. Maybe some political humor around what the aquarium inhabitants are doing since it's a Presidential election year. Just random thoughts off the top of my head.
  11. T shirts would be awesome. Maybe we could have more than one design available. But the designs have to be good. Too many reef shirts have poor designs that you wouldn't want to wear. Price point isn't important to me for a club shirt if it's actually a quality shirt and the design is appealing. We could also wear them to MACNA next year.
  12. Too much work. After fragging what you can to give away or whatever, throw the rock out and get a new one. GSP is highly resistant.
  13. Just picked up a pair of full conference passes last week. Going to show up early and tour the city.
  14. My son had a Cobalt heater on his freshwater tank and it exploded too. I think it's something related to their model of heater that they have these exploding issues from time to time. I have been running multiple Eheim Jagers for 8 years with no issues.
  15. I read that they improved the cords and the rotors, but not sure what else. Looking forward to getting a pair. The controller looks fantastic.
  16. Hey Everyone, I am really excited about the release of the 200 series Gyres with new controllers. Can't wait for Black Friday to see if there are any specials on these! It's either that or next spring with tax refund time! Anyone catch these at MACNA or already purchased one or two? Thanks, Gary
  17. Check the stamps on the cord coming out of the multibar. If it's stamped 18 awg it's good for 10 amps. If it's stamped 14 awg it's good for 15 amps. If you have the 10 amp version you can send it to Vertex Technologies in California and they will rewire it.
  18. How long and how many times in a 24 hour period do you cycle the saltwater? What size HDPE containers?
  19. Not sure if anyone else finds this true, but I seem to get a lot less precipitate by not using a heater. I also found that switching from Reef Crystals to Instant Ocean helped too.
  20. What an adventure and sense of accomplishment! Plus a few beers. ;-)
  21. Was thinking of using 5g buckets like BRS suggests.
