  1. That’s so awesome! What a great hobby, right!
  2. Wow, 520 Ca is a lot higher than advertised. Anybody have any residue issues?
  3. I picked up 2. Arrived today also. Now I have to spend $50 in the next month! I like the fact that they say there’s no residue. I might switch over from Instant Ocean.
  4. Because it's living animals in a specific container. They applied the fish rule. They were handing out the TSA rule that applied. Maybe on Building an Obsession's website. Volume of water is over the limit and negated by the fish rule.
  5. Took the live corals on the plane with me. They were in a special container built by Building an Obsession for airplane travel. TSA allowed it.
  6. MACNA was great fun! Got back Tuesday night with the wife. We won $250 in corals from WWC that went into QT Wednesday. Looks like the 2 acros didn't make it, but the other 3 frags did. I'm keeping the 2 acros in the QT tank for 30-60 days in case they decide to come back. New Orleans was a lot of fun! Planning on skipping next years show. We've been to Vegas before.
  7. My wife won't let me wash them at home; so, I rinse them outside and take them to the laundromat.
  8. Very similar with slight differences. See the pictures above.
  9. I love the ocean, and sand is a huge part of that. Just can't do a tank without sand. I know that's not the popular choice these days, but just seems so unnatural. Plus, I like sand burrowing wrasses. And I just like seeing the sand in and a part of the tank.
  10. Are you guys planning on adding the Topic/Subject to the schedule of speakers? If a speaker is scheduled to repeat is it the same presentation?
  11. Yep! Just got a doser for Christmas, so I'll probably try dosing Vodka again straight into the sump before the skimmer. Last time I dosed manually, I got globs of bacteria in the sump and inside my skimmer. Just thought a reactor might contain some of that.
  12. Hi DCReefer! Is that a gift or are you looking to sell? Thank you sir, Gary
  13. Good point, but I don't own a calcium reactor. Now I'm thinking the Deltec vodka reactor or a biopellet reactor?
  14. I am considering getting a nitrate reactor and was looking at Deltec's vodka reactor NFP 616. Any reason I should go with a traditional sulphur nitrate reactor instead?
  15. Alita are not a high pressure rated air pumps. When I contacted them about using their air pumps to power my Avast ozone reactor set up, they advised against it. They suggested the diaphragms would wear out too quickly. They have a low operating pressure. The Danner AP air pumps have replaceable diaphragms too. I'd like to know if the AL15 pushes air through an air dryer, ozone generator, ozone reactor, and post carbon effluent reactor because Alita makes quality stuff, but I was advised against it by the manufacturer. I think the AL6 is too small.
  16. I use a Danner Pond Air Pump AP40 with a 6 way manifold to run my ozone. It runs a lot better than the brown Coraluft air pump that only lasted 2 months for me. I run the manifold with all the outlets closed except 2. One to adjust, and one fully open to feed the air dryer and ozone reactor. It's been working 24/7 since January. Whatever you source, the air flow and air pressure can't be too high or it damages the ozone reactor, and too low it doesn't push any air. I used a Dwyer Air Meter to measure. I have a Sanders ozonizer and the manufacturer told me the specs for the unit as far as flow LPM and pressure. Your problem is going to be most pumps on the market are too low pressure. Operating pressure not highest listed possible.
  17. I have since figured out that my power supply isn't bad. It was the RW15 itself. Not sure what could go bad, maybe the internal chip.
  18. You may want to check out Piedmont Plastics first before ordering over the internet or from someone else. They're local. Starboard is a brand name like Xerox. It's HDPE board and there are different specific gravities for different HDPE boards. Mines pretty close to 1.026 and doesn't float. It was pretty heavy. I knocked about an inch off all around and slid it in diagonally underneath the centerbrace of my 120g. Didn't glue it down. If you don't have to it's better for when you may have to remove it. I used it to hold fiberglass rodding which supports my rockwork four - six inches higher, and I have a deep sand bed in between.
  19. No problem! The Coral Box QPs won't work with the $30 Jebao to Apex adapter. They sell another adapter that runs around $100 for it. Apparently the Jebao RWPPSW have a chip in the powerhead and the Coral Box QPs do not.
  20. <embed width="600" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullscreen="true" allowNetworking="all" wmode="transparent" src="http://static.photobucket.com/player.swf"flashvars="file=http%3A%2F%2Fvid816.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fzz83%2FFirstContact2%2FIMG_1092_zpsrofpithl.mp4&title=">
  21. Okay, finally in the tank doing what it's supposed to do:
  22. Here's the anticipated picture of the control box with LED read out screen. Functions are as follows: M:1 - 6, modes; Fre:1-99, frequency of wave; Flow: 1 - 9 power of flow; L: On - Off, night sensor; Fe: 10 (minutes, suppose this counts down), Feed Mode; Wi: M - F - N, Master, Follow, None? The control box is definitely an upgrade and the LED screen is pretty neat!
  23. Hey, that's great info khh27! Now I know to look for 5.5mm x 2.1 mm for the jack. I'll look around for a month or so and see what turns up on Amazon and other places. Thanks, Gary
