The issue with Petco is not the product they are buying. It is their practices on acclimation and maintenance on their tanks. They don't treat if something is sick and they keep adding fish regardless. If you QT their fish and it looks healthy It's still a gamble but you could get a good fish.

So I have had these clowns for about 2 years and the female (much bigger) is getting beat on. They have always been together and have shown no sign's of agreesion towards each other but now this. Could the male be going female?
What I will tell you is I am controlling a 20, and a 4 both with my Apex and I use some home made cables. Works great so I am not sure about the actual controller but works great with the Apex
Had that issue with my old one but cleaned it good and would start it up dry a few times (not run for long) then submerge. Worked for me at least

I just wanted to say thank you for everything. Coral is always amazing! More important is that Richard stands behind his product and really does take great care of the customer.
Moral of the story is if you want a great product, and great service you can't go wrong. Thanks again
Had something similar happen as my temp outlet changed. No alarms went off because that outlet was no longer active. Did catch it in time.

Start with a little slow music, give them some sweet talk, then BAM! A hammer to the head. Works every time. Not sure why they always die after that but it's a work in progress.

Although I agree that would not negate the news or benefit to a QT. You are still lowering the risk but QT your fish.
