  1. Honestly can not wait for this build to come to fruition. It looks absolutely gorgeous and its a testament to Adam's skill to build something like this with such precision. Let's get some saltwater into this!
  2. They usually stock ORA, which is nice. Corals are always colorful. Their display is amazing! One of the reasons I'm trying my hand at SPS is because of marine scene's display, karina big barebottom and yauger's cube.
  3. Impressive, can't wait to see what you do with this build!
  4. Good people, very considerate and usually very knowledgable. Clean store, healthy livestock. Haven't had any issues with pests. They are pricey though, but you pay for the service and friendly staff.
  5. Anyone willing to share their graphs? I'm curious to see how others have been programming their xr30w radions and what you found to be most effective. I'm trying to figure out a proper photo cycle for SPS growth.
  6. Gnome Glass Skimmer Update! I have to say that I am VERY IMPRESSED with the build quality on this little skimmer! The glass is thick and seems very solid. The work is intricate. I couldn't be more happy with the build quality - and how clean it looks in my ADA tank! Now lets see how this baby performs! I have it hooked up to a Tetra Whisper 40 with T and bleed off valve to regulate the air flow.
  7. Actually I'm not too sure about that. I don't think it is and I probably need another Radion to get proper coverage. I'll end up finding another to purchase in a week or two.
  8. Thanks bud! I'm REALLY impressed with the build quality of the ADA, highly recommend it. Very pricey though in comparison to their competitors - Mr. Aqua, but the high clarity glass and silicone work is superb. http://www.adgshop.com/ None of the glass panels are tempered, they can all be drilled. Is that good or bad? If you ever plan to sell the 120-P let me know!
  9. Since I do not have a sump, I need something that is very low profile and easy to manage. I might look into the Avast ATO and see what the footprint is. I've heard a lot of good feedback on the Tunze, I'll definitely look into that.
  10. Thank you! It is, I topped off a bit higher then I should have. It should recede from evaporation. I'm working on an ATO, perhaps an Elos Osmocontroller?
  11. ADA 90-P Barebottom Reef Tank Dimensions: 36"x18"x18" Fill Date: 01/22/2013 Aquascape: 65 +/- lbs of BRS Tonga Dry Rock Filteration: EHEIM 7122 /w Cal Aqua Labs Glass Lily Pipes (Mechanical/Bio Filteration + Carbon) Lighting: (1) ECOTECH Radion XR30w Circulation: (2) ECOTECH MP10W Heating: Hydor 300W In Line Heater Skimmer: Gnome Glass 52mm Airstone Skimmer (Tetra Whisper 40 Air Pump) Maintenance: Algae Free Hammerhead Hello folks, I wanted to start a journal of the progress of my current build, an ADA 90-P barebottom reef tank. Let's hope this one lasts longer then all of my other "build" attempts. This setup is sitting on a 72"x24"x24" Steel Frame that I had powder coated. I plan to have an ADA 55-C (22"x22"x22") cube right next to this tank in the future. The 55-C will be a Clown/Anemone/Softy tank. My goal for this build is a very clean, streamlined setup. Minimal maintenance if possible. This build does not have a sump, but I might upgrade to a sump in the future with the 55-C. It all depends on if the EHEIM 7122 and the Gnome Glass Airstone skimmer are up to snuff in maintaining a heavy bio-load in this tank. I'm not too happy with the aquascape, so I might end up moving it around somewhat for a cleaner look. Any suggestions would be welcome. I've dosed BIO SPIRA in order to kick start the cycle. I will be monitoring the chemistry over the next few weeks to see how it handles. The skimmer will be here this Friday, and I look forward to sharing the setup of the new glass skimmer with everyone. Gnome usually only makes skimmers up to 44mm, but the 52mm is a newer model that he is working on releasing. I hope this larger skimmer design, in conjunction with the EHEIM 7122 Filter, will help keep my water quality high for superb SPS growth. Thank you, Omair

    ADA 60p

That's a gorgeous tank. Great work! Very clean. How did you get the hanging arm for the Radion? I'm doing a very similar build with an ADA 90-P and a Radion and would like to avoid hanging it from the ceiling.
  13. This tank is an inspiration - please keep the pics coming! absolute eye candy.
  14. Recommendations? Hermit Crabs or Snails? If so which would you recommend?
  15. Any drill will do as long as it has low level torque. Ryobi should be fine. Plenty of reefers in our area have experience drilling tanks and should be available to help if needed. Personally I would look up a few How To videos on YouTube. It's surprisingly easy to do - just be gentle, let the weight of the drill pressure through. Use plumbers putty to create a recessive moat around the hole and fill it with water to disperse the eat of the drill bit. Glass Holes is a great resource, they sell the overflow kit with diamon tip drill bits. BRS also sells drill bits with drill guides.
  16. Instead of glass wouldn't it be better to use a 1" acrylic piece to bond the seam together? I'm sure Adam could get something together for you if that's needed.
  17. It doesn't look too bad. The seal on the silicone looks like it's holding. I would definitely order some black aquarium silicone and seal it up though.
  18. Wish you luck bro. Almost home! Hope everything goes well with the tank. Would it be possible to silicone the affected area before doing a water test? Let it cure for 48 hours and then give the water test a shot. Added insurance no?
  19. Any local dealers have this in stock? Please PM me
  20. While trolling Reefbuilder during work I keep reading articles about these DC Pumps that will be new technology/design for protein skimmers. I understand that you can control the skimmer speed, but I don't understand what makes it so much better then regular AC pumps that we use these days. What's so amazing about this things? More torque vs wattage?
  21. Since I'm breaking down my 80 gallon rimless, I'm working on putting together a new tank for the main level of my living room. It needs to take up as minimal space as possible. My ideal tank size is 24x24x24, and I have been really impressed by the ADA 22x22x22 or Mr Aqua 24x24x24 aquariums. Originally I wanted to see if I could get a tank built by Adam from Artfully Acrylic, but the limitations acrylic thickness for a rimless build of this size has put me off somewhat. I have been searching for a Mr Aqua 24x24x24 tank but it seems to be discontinued? Is this true? Does anyone know where I can purchase this tank if possible? Also, I'm also searching for a MAME Overflow. The clean glass look of this overflow (teamschreiba) looks amazing and from the reviews, is very silent. Does MAME or any other manufacturer make a glass return by any chance? As far as skimmers are concerned, I would need something very silent. Any suggestions? Bubble King Mini 160? How quiet is it? I've had an Avast skimmer in the past, super efficient, but it can be a little noisy. Any suggestions?
  22. Ouch! I'm so sorry to hear that. That looks awful! It looks like it get into a fight. Do you have a QT? Anti Bacterial Treatments to help stop infection would be key. Iodine treatment? Melafix? (http://www.apifishcare.com/Products/Product.aspx?ProductID=56)
