  1. Haha really? I didn't realize. I thought rimless tanks used thicker reinforced glass along with different silicone bonding material? Interesting.
  2. I found a local selling a rimless 100g glass cages cube aquarium. Anyone have experience with them?
  3. DeepBlue might be a viable option then. Let me see what I can find.
  4. So from what I understand ADA tanks are the top of line as far as build quality is concerned? How do they compare to deep blue?
  5. I would be curious to see how your ADA has come along. Can you post pics?
  6. How big is your ADA? Where did you purchase it from?
  7. I'm looking forward to building a rimless system, I like how clean it looks with the hanging lights. I'll look into the 75g deepblue, but I was hoping for something similar to: http://www.greenleafaquariums.com/glass-rimless-aquariums/rimless-aquarium-91-l.html Does anyone have any experience with these?
  8. Hello WAMAS! As some of you can probably see from the WTB/Sell/Trade forum I have to sell my 180 Gallon tank. This is due to family moving into my home and needing the room to accommodate my new guests *grumble*. I do not want to leave the hobby though, I love aquariums and everything involved. As such, I want to start fresh and build a smaller, rimless tank that can house two clowns and some corals. Space is limited, so I will have approximately 4' available to me. I want to post here and ask the community to help me put together plans on building a system on a budget. I hope to use the proceeds from the sale of my larger system for this setup. I will document my build process and plans here as things progress.
  9. I have such a long way to go, making many mistakes as I move towards the dream aquarium I have pictured in my head. I just finished the Aquascape, and I'm a little worried about it. I tried creating many escape tunnels, calm areas and caves when putting this together. I also tried to make sure I have ample area to place coral when the time comes. Any feedback is appreciated. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=4UXdGBnPILQ
  10. Looks like he's fairly popular, PM inbox is full! But was able to shoot him an email.
  11. I know there are folks local to DMV Area who can build custom Acrylic tanks, and I was wondering who I could speak to about a custom Acrylic Sump.
  12. Is this thing dangerous? Is my fledgling tank infected already?!
  13. I'm a new aquarist, and I am a month into my first tank - a 180 gallon with 40 gallon sump. Pretty big for a first tank, but my buddy always wished he had started big and so I did. Regardless, I was able to score some really premium fiji rock with coraline algae from him. The rock is great, happy to have them in my tank, but what I'm concerned about is this starfish that came along for the ride. I'm not sure what it is. Is it safe for my tank? Does anyone know what kind of starfish it is? What does it eat? Hopefully not my watchman Goby!
  14. I'll have some pictures up tonight. I'm fairly worried about the return pump as you mentioned. I'd need a lot more flow to keep a health reef and avoid dead spots. :(
  15. T5 perhaps? I'm really not sure. I'll take a picture of it tonight and post. I have 4 long bulbs and a strip of blue LED's in my Corallife lighting unit.
  16. Hello folks, I'm new to WAMAS and I'm starting my first Aquarium. I have always loved and admired saltwater wildlife and reefs in general, the Discovery Channel has always been a go to staple in my house. I'm starting my Aquarist hobby with a 180 gallon reef ready tank. The sump/fuge is a custom acrylic job that I'm a little iffy about. I have a 950 gph return pump which I have read is a little weak for my setup. I imagine I'll need atleast 1800 gph? I have 1 working Koralia pump for my tank, and my lighting seems to be ok (corallife 60" all inclusive unit). My Skimmer is by Red Sea and I'm not sure about out's effectiveness just yet. I'm very new to this, and so far the highlight of my day is coming home to see how much water my RODI unit has made so far. I look forward to sharing the rest of my successes and failures with the WAMAS community.
