    Fish Room

Step 1: OMG REPAINT THAT ROOM!
  2. I switched from GFO to SeaChem SeaGel and it really helped me real in phosphate levels. What kind of rock do you have in the tank? was it live? cured?
  3. One of the most impressive FOWLR tanks in the DC area. Great job!
  4. Got it, what should I do for a new tank? Carbon + Skimmer only?
  5. No diatome bloom. Actually NO algae growth at all. The SeaChem SeaGel + BIO Pellets and the Skimmer seem to be doing their job.
  6. Lessons learned. I've added more live rock into my sump. Dosed bio-activ and I'm monitoring the PH/Phosphates/Ammonia and Nitrates. So far all clear. I've also seeded my sand with live sand from an established tank.
  7. After awhile, the shear ease of use of a gooseneck clamp to sit your darn light on is priceless.
  8. He did seemed to be a bit swollen, like he was going to attempt a molt but it failed. :( Stress related? New aquarium? Too young?
  9. The new rock was all Live Rock from Marine Scene - Real Reef Rock. Not sure about the rubble rock. I'll have to check. Could it have been the sand bed? It was Carib Sea Aragonite dry sand. I made sure to rinse it thoroughly beforehand.
  10. Your builds are always impressive in how clean and neat they come out. Really impressive! Looking forward to see how your corals grow out in this tank.
  11. Came home to this. So ******* depressed. Not sure what to do after a loss like this. Can't even tell what happened either. Nitrates and Phosphates 0, Salinity .025 on my Refractometer, Temp at a steady 77. Did a water change last night - 5 gallons of saltwater from Marine Scene. He ate a whole baby scallop two days ago. GODdarn. Beyond pissed.
  12. Gorgeous! Where did you get him?
  13. Where do you get live black worms?
  14. How much SW do you need to top off your sump?
  15. Can you show us a picture of how you have it setup in the sump?
  16. I'm pretty excited about this build So happy how its turning out. The little guy is awesome, bit shy; but when he doesn't notice I'm there I can see him roaming around checking out his digs. He's already digging a little cave. I'm pretty happy with the Real Reef rock that I was able to get; pretty nice coloring and I know I don't have to deal with any leeching phosphates or die off.
  17. Got it! Thanks so much for taking the time to do this!
  18. Thanks buddy! I'm pretty excited about this small little 20 gallon. It doesn't compare to your mammoth build but I'm trying
  19. http://kessil.com/aquarium/A350.php The A360W is coming out soon (if not already). It's basically the A350W with the ability to control light intensity and blue/white.
  20. You can look into Kessil A350W Tuna Blue LED Pendants. Their optics have a 70 degree range, which could give you more coverage. The expected optic radius is about 24" with a 3' depth. You could get away with two of these, there should be enough light spillage between the two pendants to grow some LPS/Softies. Where as you can probably grow SPS right in the optimal light range.
  21. Can you post a picture? 60 long usually needs three LED fixtures. Depending on the spread of the optics. What are you planning to grow? SPS?
  22. Do you think I can plant some mangroves along the back of the tank? Would that be possible? Or would they die due to lack of direct lighting?
  23. His first feeding. I purchased some frozen scallops at a local grocery store. He grabbed it and has been hugging it fo the past hour. Hope he likes it. Just noticed that he has some amazing harlequin coloring. After he molts and grows bigger he's going to be an amazing! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyVL386XIY0
  24. Jenn - I'm in Reston, just up the road from Rt 7! I can head down and pick it up whenever. Sending PM.
