  1. I've heard twice now that they have lost their lease and are closeing up shop. Can anyone verify?
  2. Good point. I put in boiling water to disinfect then let dry out.
  3. Well the GF has been bugging me about going down there for a weekend soon. The sacrifices I make.
  4. This is a relaxed store. If you ask, Vince and Steve will talk to you for hours about your set up. If you say your just looking they will let you until you ask. This is a place where you can just come in and look and hang and learn if you want. Go back and talk to them. Sometimes no fish will die after acclimation, but sometimes any LFS is unlucky.
  5. What kind of light cycle are you running?(24/7, reverse, same) What lights are you using on the fuge? What brand test kit are you using? What is your Phosphate at? Have you ever harvested the cheato?
  6. I'm running a DC6000 to the 80g frag tank. The 6000 would be good with 2 outlets. But if your gonna put anymore to it that's iffy. Smallreef. I'd get the 12000.
  7. My parents and daughter live about 20 minutes away in Shallotte, NC. Spend a lot of time in the area. There is only one shop anywhere close. And I think they are only open like 2 or 3 days a week in the evening. They are the ones that do maintenance on a lot of hotel/restaurant tanks in the area. Think Wilmington, NC has one but that's 60+ miles up 17. I'll let you know next time I go down. Usually every 3rd weekend. As far as the 9011 goes. I had one on a heavily stocked 120 with 40g sump and it worked very well. I would manually dose Kalk as needed. No stirrer. Seems like a waste of $$$ for a stirrer or dosing system for that little use.
  8. 1 splitter for the heaters. I have my stand light and longest running display light split together. That frees up a port. What kind of ATO set up are you using? And unless you have a water on the floor sensor I see no point in a main return pump plugged into the controller.
  9. 2 were old to include the LFS. It had been in that one spot for 38 years. Other house was about 10 yr. old
  10. Misspelling cannot edit for some reason off my phone. Tappahannock, VA. on 17
  11. Hey all. Driftwood Aquatics and Pets in Tappahanock burnt down early Tuesday morning. The store is a total loss and all animals except Gordon the Tortoise perished. I visited with Gavin the owner for a bit today. He is very hopeful that they will reopen in the near future. Fire started with some old wiring up in the attic and had nothing to do with the tanks or reptile set ups. However, this is the 3rd fire involving someone I know in the last couple months and all have been do to wiring. And all have lost pets. And all have been total losses of the structure. Please spend some time this weekend and go over all your gear and check those wires and connections.
  12. I think all of us cannot leave a new tank alone for more than 5 minutes. I just buy the cheap 5in1 test strips to get a daily or so idea what is going on. Not perfect but works for me.
  13. Exactly. If cycling LR some people need to do near daily water changes and run a good skimmer. The critters in the LR cannot handle the high ammonia and nitrite just like any other. If you do not do water changes you will kill nearly every organism and with that you might as well just start with all dry rock.
  14. The size hole that you drill is going to be bigger than the actual bulk head size by I believe 1/2". ie you want a 1" pipe you have to drill a 1.5" hole. Bulk head supplier should have something out there to help you out also.
  15. I went in there for the second time on Monday. BS'd for probably an hour and half with these two. Went to get food and left with three new corals. Frag off of the HUGE m.confusa, 4 headed neon green Trumpet, and a awesome SPS frag that I will have to get the name of again. You guys rock.
  16. I like the rock work also. Like how most of it only goes about half way up for some good swimming room. Roughly, how many pounds is in there?
