  1. Clip on fans at Walmart. ~$10 each
  2. Has anyone been able to hatch eggs if the male spits them out?
  3. Garlic and melted butter pan seared snow peas, baby carrots and thin strips of various squash with a little bit of sea salt. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmm good. We make it at the girl friends restaurant.
  4. Peas are very high on the nutritional scale. Lots of vitamins and minerals. Found that thawed out is less wasted and mash some up in your hands or use some kitchen item for the smaller fish.
  5. Nice light bracket. Did you build it yourself?
  6. They never advertise this. I only know because I have a couple relatives that are managers at various stores. Sale usually lasts a month. But sometimes shorter.
  7. Petco starts their sale again Easter Sunday. Shrimp are suppose to be on sale also.
  8. If you have two equal pumps usually you would get roughly half the value of a second pump and quarter of a third and so on. Say 10 foot head each. 2 Pumps at the same elevation would get you 15ft and 3 would get you 17.5... Magnetic drive pumps don't have enough suction power (sucking from a lower pump) to make a difference. They are designed mainly to push fluids.
  9. Us darn inspectors are always in a good mood. (grumble grumble).
  10. Thanks for the Purple Tilefish and Aussie Hammer. The GF loves her new fish and the Hammer is swaying in the current. It was deffenently worth the drive for our first visit from SoMD.
  11. +1. I run dual 1" durso's on my AGA on each end and tank is feed with a Mag 9. The tank is pretty quite. Loudest thing is my light fans and MP40. Or the splashing when the filter socks need to be changed. (Hint to me as Im sitting in front of the tank now)
  12. That seems like a pretty good rate. Excess tubing is not going to cause a lack of flow if it is at the same head and going down in elevation. Only problem is a risk of kinking. Tom lifters are rated a 3gph max at zero head pressure so you could use a measured container to see the rate. ie One gallon in 20 minutes. Just lifting out of a bucket, say 10", you might be down to 1.5-2 gph though.
  13. Welcome to the club. Spend the $20 it pays for itself multiple times over. I'm in SoMD also. Cobb Island. Where are you?
  14. How high can the sensor be mounted with the magnetic mount included? Will the lip of my sump/40breeder be in the way if I wanted my water to be about 4-5" below the top?
  15. Thanks. That's right across the road from my office. Didn't even know after 2 1/2 years of driving right by.
  16. Nice. Frag racks to the side though.
  17. Barnacles are easy to get off. You need a small metal scraper or screw driver. Hold the clam and with a little force pop the barnacle off at the base. If one is perticularly hard, split it in half with the scrapper. I do this all the time on the boats and have seen a few in tanks. Clam will be fine.
  18. +1 they are not predators. I think it could look like it thought sometimes if you had a fish or something die recently they will swarm it pretty fast. Then people get it in their head that the snails killed my fish.
  19. They are very shy and will rarely swim or hover around without a buddy or 2. My Bar Gobies and Scissor Tails sometimes pair up but usually it takes 2 of the same.
  20. Back on after 3 hours. Heat dropped 1.5 degrees. Battery back up worked well. Everything came back on with no issues except 1 Korilla 1400. That took a sec to get spinning again.
  21. Just lost power 10 minutes ago. Vortech MP40 on battery. Battery powered air on hand.
