  1. Water General RD102 complete with pressure gauge, auto-shutoff, free shipping, everything: $140 http://filterdirect.com/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=29 Had mine three years, loved it
  2. I bought a rd102 water general from filterdirect.com and have been very pleased. Very economically priced, free shipping, etc.
  3. I do this all the time, recycling water to start new tanks. Treesprite is right about true dry rock buy the cycle should be less. Do you have a small piece of rock available or perhaps some rubble from your refugium you can use?
  4. I used Banner glass in Rockville for mine, very decently priced. Across from Ranger Supply
  5. actually I was wondering the same. Monkiboy just got here before i did. Thx
  6. I have a 2 bulb 48 inch t5 fixture w 18 mon old bulbs that I am giving away. Works but I'm done with it. 20 L that I incorrectly installed glass baffles in for my first sump. Like to get a tiny little something for it. I need a glass top for another 20 long that I have. I need some (a) shell for my getting humongous crab
  7. last question, and thank you, BTW. What readings WOULD I SEE if there was a stray voltage problem in these tanks? Again, thx!
  8. thanks Tom. I will do all this to make sure I am doing it right. Now, what does it mean? I get the 1.0 to 2.0 without a grounding probe, 0.00 with the grounding probe, and 0.00 if the pump is turned off. Do I have a stray voltage problem? Here is the meter: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Commercial-Electric-Digital-Multimeter-MAS830B/202353293#.UdhJdvnbOSo
  9. This happens to me regularly, (not because of Avast, but because I'm stupid), and I just let it evaporate down to get back to normal. Once I let it get too low and as it evaporated I topped-off with fresh, stronger, salt-water. Everyone in the tank forgave me.
  10. I have been battling what many think is a stray voltage problem in my tanks. Weird pH probe readings, salinity probe being off etc. I purchased a digital multimeter from Home Depot and am trying to figure out what it means when I use it. Using it for testing AC it has two settings, 200V and 600V. I have two tanks, nothing hooked up to them right now but main pumps (eheim 1262's). When I test one tank I get a reading between 1.0 and 2.0. Testing the other tank returns the same value. One of the tanks has a grounding probe on it, and if plugged in, it comes out as 0.00. The only real difference between the two settings is decimal point accuracy What readings should I see? Can anyone help me understand all of this? Thanks in advance.
  11. I recently book-marked a really cool article doing this with weather stripping and plexiglass. Never did it, so DIY'er beware: http://www.wetwebmedia.com/ca/volume_3/cav3i1/Baffles/bafflesart.htm I did this one time, paid too much for the glass, mis-measured the height of the baffles, struggled to get it siliconed in, and then it wouldn't work. Never went back. Still have that 20 L with the baffles if anyone wants to donate a Zoa frag or two for it. Ross
  12. That is my thought as well. I signed up for the BRS group buy in a few days. I'll buy a new one. Thx
  13. Haven't used it in a while, pulled it out, place a water sample on it, looked thru...nothing. Looked like brown sludge or something.. I said, "My water's not that dirty!" As I looked at it I could see the brown on the inside of the glass, on the prism? Can't see how to get in there and clean it.. Is it dead? Thx in advance WAMAS
  14. Because we can (or want to!) Why else do we own and play with aquarium controllers?
  15. I'd be interested in working with you to make it work on the Reef Angel. Happy to loan you equipment, assist, collaborate, etc. to make it successful. LMK Thx Ross
  16. a small miter cutting board sells at Home Depot for about $8. Gas to most any of us will cost you that much. Just a thought,
  17. You posted that you know what kind of light you want to upgrade to...what is it? Maybe someone has experience with it?
  18. I was going to post this had the previous writer not...thx Lots of discussion on the forum on how to program the RA to take advantage of the features of this technology.
  19. I have some purple primer and regular glue if you want to try one before committing to redo them all. LMK
  20. I used Aiptasia, worked like a charm.
  21. there are many discussions on this board about this topic and you DO NOT have to pay these prices to get these results. These barrels turn up on Craigs list all the time for between $10-20. They are usually from a food-grade manufacturer like Pepsi or some such. I bought one for $12, had strawberry flavoring in it, took it to the car wash with two gallons of vinegar and have been using it since. I do like the concept of the little dolly, somethign I never had thought of before. I added some pumps, some uni-seals, some PVC and made a free-standing unit, pictures of which were included in the previous posts. Let us know if you have further questions
  22. Paul, I appreciate your comments. I frequently find myself enjoying the design and build aspects of my tanks more than the tanks themselves. Almost seems like therapy. Thx
  23. those small tubes are siphon breaks. All the glass-holes devices use them. They are generally pointed above the water line and leakage is rare but can happen (just a little)
