Welcome to the club! Just one thing, is it just me or is the tank and stand not level?
  9. You need a smaller pump. Your drain can't handle the amount of water that your return pump is pumping into the display (even at the lowest setting).
  10. I am NOT a fan of any of the ornamental clownfish and think they are just plain ugly, but these I actually think look pretty cool.
  11. Welcome to the club! I've never heard of Gonzo's Coral Frags. I just perused their website briefly but couldn't find their location. Are they local to Colorado or DC?
  12. For me, I'd go Tunze Osmolator 3155 every day of the week. Using that on my 45g cube with 10g sump and it works like a charm.
  13. Awesome. It's amazing how quickly they grow and how fast they dart around.
  14. The tubing on the open channel pipe is to reduce noise as the tubing allows air to escape the pipe. Although, if you have it set the siphon just right, there should only be a slight trickle down the open channel and noise should be at a minimum anyways. If I were setting up a bean animal on a 40 breeder, I would go 3/4" siphon drain, 1" open channel drain, 1" emergency drain, and 3/4" return (but 1" pvc on the return but reduced to 3/4" at the output). Having larger diameter piping on the return greatly reduces the amount of friction loss.
  15. My understanding is that the transition between T5 and MH (going to or from) is not as big a problem as going from one of those to LED. In general, if you plan on running MH on the DT and you plan on growing out many of these frags to eventually place in your DT, it might be best to just go with MH over the frag and grow out tanks to begin with. Plus, I've always had the absolute best growth under MH, which is what you want in the frag and grow out tanks anyways, right?
  16. Francis, this is awesome! Keep up the good work. The Rod's Onyx is my all time favorite clownfish.
  17. Considering she is definitely larger than he is, I would try changing up the rockwork just a little, leave her in there and put the male in another tank for about a week. Then introduce the male again and let them have at it. I would guess that the male would get a little butt kicking then submit.
  18. Taking out the male and keeping the female in the tank that you want them in might be a good idea. This way, the male won't feel as comfortable in his "domain" and be more willing to submit coming into her territory. Also, I know it might be tough to watch, but how long do you let them go at it? It seems like only a couple minutes. Unless they're really doing damage to each other (instead of just sparring in a sense), maybe you should let them face off for a little longer and let them figure it out? I know it's hard to watch, but I don't think a few bites will really injure them that much. Just a thought.
  19. Just did a quick search. It was dipg's tank. There are a bunch of close up pics so you can see what the grains look like. I'm just trying to figure out a way of how to swap my sand out. http://wamas.org/forums/topic/71024-the-peninsula-200g-mixed-reef/
  20. I was looking into the same sand issue a couple of weeks ago and came across Tropic Edens Reef Flakes or Mini Flakes. Those might be good options. I forgot whose tank it was on here that was using it but it looked pretty good.
  21. I've found that with my clownfish, actinic lighting and a little Marvin Gaye gets them in the mood. They are spawning every couple weeks.
  22. Dang, that picture now has me craving some spicy Thai food...
  23. I am no spraypainter, so maybe my skills are just lacking, but I've found spray painting is difficult to do without the paint running.
  24. Actually, I never saw this before until I just opened up that page, but they can bend the PVC! I didn't know that was even possible. Not sure what the cost is to do that (so might not be worth it) but it would eliminate connections/joints where leaks can occur and restrict flow.
