  1. Thx, I'm gonna go by reef escape today. Even Chaeto would do, just something besides caluerpa lol
  2. Can't find one that has anything other than some species of caluerpa. Anyone know of one in Va?
  3. Man, this is an awesome build. Great work
  4. Thanks for the responses everyone. I'm gonna look into getting one fabbed
  5. nah, water flow is fine..
  6. Got 10 gal or so under tank now, and things are really snug. And Ideas on bigger sump? Oh yea to make this interesting it's a 92 corner :-(.. Any previous threads, links etc would be helpful. We've even been playing with the idea of having an "L" shaped sump fabbed. however we know this would be the most pricey option.
  7. So it's been 2 weeks since we revamped the tank. Here's what we did: -Removed all livestock -Scrubbed all rock and tank free of algae -Removed 1/2 of the sand -100% water change -Changed filters in RO/DI unit Today, the nitrates are still off the charts. We're doing a 20% water change, but we're not too confident that's going to put a dent in the nitrates. With no livestock and clean water being used to top off - what could be causing the nitrates to stay so high? We checked for ammonia and nitrites a week after the revamp and neither was present, so if it did go through the 1st 2 stages of a cycle after the 100% water change, it happened very quickly. Could the nitrates possibly be leaching out of the rock? If that's the case, I wonder how long it will take for things to go back to normal...
  8. Very nice!! It looks really good now, gonna be awesome once complete.
  9. Yea, inline meter is on the way for standard testing tho. My other one took a shat, And we never replaced it
  10. Yea, we tested everything after the new filters and resin.. and now we are at 0. This mistake will not be made again :-)
  11. Also forgot to mention:the water coming from our RO/DI unit had small amounts of ammonia. We believe this was the culprit. We've replaced the filters and so far so good...
  12. And we are back to square one.. Tank going through small cycle after a complete breakdown/cleaning.. I think we are gonna leave the other livestock in the downstairs tank and get some new residents for this one.. Everybody loves new fish!!!
  13. Update: Livestock Transferred to this tank now.
  14. Thinking about trying to relocate skimmer to sump?
  15. 10 gal sump, has aqua C skimmer on side of tank.. Gonna put some rubble in the fuge area underneath.
  16. Got this for free here in Warrenton. This is where we will be relocating or live stock while we battle the algae monster! Sent from my XT1058 using Tapatalk
  17. Here's a pic link to photobucket, I hope this works!! http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae296/rebekwl/tank.jpg
  18. Thanks all! We're going to go ahead and take some of the above measures to get the nitrates in check, and then move on to pulling as much out as possible and scrubbing everything clean. I'm having trouble uploading a pic to help ID the algae, any suggestions? Has anyone used to peroxide method of removal? Thoughts on that? Thanks!
  19. Thanks guys, We are going to remove rock and begin the scrubbing down process.. Not sure what type it is, Fluffy but confident it's not byprosis. Thinks it's some type of hair algae
