  1. Hey Johnny, soon you'll be able to deliver packages for Amazon with that thing. Nice work.
  2. Is the group buy only if we reach 10 or more? If not, how much would they be if less than 10?
  3. Hi Thai, What kind of FW tank are you setting up? I started in FW 25 years ago and recently went back to it. I now have a 180 reef and a 120 with Discus. I'm happy to help in any way. Eddi
  4. I am going to tag along and add my approval. I had to pack a lunch and stop for gas on my way to his house, but it was worth the effort. Richard has good stuff, great prices, good customer service and is a nice guy to boot! What else could you want?
  5. I will give it a shot; thank you for the good wishes, I will need them.
  6. No, I have never tried Chemiclean; at this point I am ready to put on fins and a mask and jump in to remove it by hand, so I am willing to try anything. Does it work on all kinds of red algae?
  7. I have one in my 125; he has quickly taken care of about a dozen majanos. Between him and my Copperband (aptaisia), I don't have any 'flowery' pests left. Now, if only I could getrife off my $&!@? red algae!!! By the way, I have several LPS in my tank; I have never seem him nip at them. Interesting how individual fish of the same specie can be so different!
  8. I have had a Copperband for years now, and have never had a problem with clams; however, Jan is right, they may pick al LPS, especially fleshy ones like scolymias, lobophylia and wells. Usually, if you add the fish last it will not pick at existing corals, but that is certainly not a guarantee. They can be a bit tough to get to start eating, but they do an amazing job on aptaisia.
  9. I have opened the regulator all the way and I was trying to avoid buying yet another pump. What do you mean by back pressure? Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
  10. My water pressure is not very strong, so my good/discard ratio is probably 6 or 7 to 1, so I am always trying to come up with ways to improve. I save about 15 gallons in a sink that I use for my fresh water tank, but the rest of the water is wasted. I tapped into my main water line; I have a 1" pipe that then I reduce into my RO/DI; what if I plumb the discard line back into my input pipe? Any chance that would work, or would the pressure cause a problem? Administrator - I posted this in the wrong forum. Please move, thanks.
  11. Do these "a day or two of intense cephalopod discussion and socializing" go together? I can just imagine the conversations...
  12. Hey Craig, I actually found that site as I was searching the web; the have a multi week class at the Ananndale NOVA campus starting this Thursday that I will probably take. I also saw they have a one day session on macro in March (I think), and a more detailed one later in the year. Thanks for the heads up.
  13. Thank you, Steve. I will take a look at the site.
  14. Photography really interests me; unfortunately, I am not real good at it. I know the basics, but not much more. Does anyone know a photography class that is more than simply how to point and shoot? I am interested in learning the features of cameras, lighting and macro shots (just to name a few). Thanks.
  15. That is a very cool specimen, Kevin. I am also an eel fan. I have had a couple myself over the years in my fuge and have hand fed all of them. I am often tempted to get another, or two or three (I have a large fuge); we'll see.
  16. Copperbands are known to eat feather dusters; they are also rumored to pick at a clam's mantle, but I have had CBs and clams in every single one of my tanks, andI have never had a problem. I don't think they are prone to bother anything else.
  17. Bob, I had a similar issue a couple of years ago; my tank was infested with Aptaisia. I tried injections, I tried scrubbing, I tried peppermints, I tfried nudibranchs, I tried removing rocks and cleaning them; nothing worked. Until I got a Copperband. Within a month, every single piece of aptaisia was gone; I could not recommned it more. The fact that it's one of my favorite fish is just gravy.
  18. I had an octopus years ago, when I did not know any better. I kept it for about 6-7 months and had it eating pieces of shrimp and squid. Despite their notorious ability to escape even the slightest opening, mine never crawled out. It eventually died, I am sure due to poor water quality or parameter imbalance; I knew very little back then. Octopi are fascinating and very intelligent creatures. I would love to set up a spieces tank and try again, but probably never will.
  19. Thank you all for your comments. Scott, I have not been around for quite a while. Work is crazy, and, frankly, I sort of lost interest in the hobby for a while. I actually thought of giving it up. Bob, I actually don't do anything to the blastos; I have not target fed them but I will start. If you look at the ones at the top, with the green center, you can see they are starting to go downhill. Phil, I would love to help out in any way I can with your shark project. I have often thought about replacing the refugium downstairs with large tank so I could have my Epaulettes again, but I have a hunch Karen would throw me out of the house. PM or call me anytime. Garrett, I still have the 360. It is mainly a fish only tank, but I do have the biggest rose anenome I have ever seen. Khanh, thank you. Do you stil have all your LPS? Did you see the watermelon chalice I got from you? It has grown quite a bit; the picture does not do it justice, the color really pops.
  20. Hi Jason, and thank you. I do love my angels; the multi colored and the golden are simply beautiful. I did not inclue the pics because I did not want the take the room on here.
  21. Hi all, just wanted to share some pictires of my 125 reef. As you can see, I am big into LPS (especially brains), while have some issues keeping SPS. Comments are welcome, just remember I am not a photographer. Oh, yeah; please ignore the bubble algae. If I could sell it, I would be a millionaire. 22. I too, started with FW about 25 years ago. I just recently returned to my roots and set up a 29 G Discus tank in my office.
  23. I had heard Leopard Wrasses were difficult eaters as well, but I have a pair and I, fortunately, did not have any trouble getting either to eat. I have had them for about 18 months now and both seem to be doing quite well.
