  1. The PH value shown on the ACIII is consistent with the reading from a test kit so I think the reading is correct. My refugium has never doing well. I do have good surface water movement. I have 2 4" icecap fan in the hood. That Eight.Four looks interesting. Anyone used it with good result?
  2. My tank PH is pretty low, between 7.8 - 7.6. I have a calcium reactor and I drip Kalk. There was a thread few days ago regarding low PH. Many people suggested to use the outside air for the skimmer. Does not seem to work for me. Is there any other way I can do to increase the PH?
  3. That has never crossed my mind since other corals are growing well. I saw this today in RC. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1730357 Amazing red planet growth. The base is so green, mine is no near than that. I also saw one last week at the Marine Scene in their display tank. The base is a dark green. I think it is because their Radium bulb.
  4. I got 8 T5s. The color of the recommended combo selection from reefgeek is terrible.
  5. What kind of light do you have? I think it is the T5 they don't like. I am thinking changing mine.
  6. I have moderate flow in my entire tank. 150G with two Koralia 4 and an external Little Giant return pump.
  7. I have couple of ORA frags I bought maybe 6 months ago. Some grow well (Bird of Paradise, Hawkins, Rosco) some don't. Maybe someone who knows SPS well can provide some helpful tips. The Red Planet has not gain any new branch. In fact, the existing branches might have shrunk little bit. The base is encrusted to the surrounding rock in good 1-2 inches. Should I just wait and see don't make any change? The Pearlberry does gain many branches but no polyps, at least too small to see them. Too much light? They both are sit high in the tank under T5.
  8. Ooops. I mean how important is the value.
  9. I never pay any attention to the ORP value displayed on my ACIII. How import is it?
  10. I was stunned and speechless for a about half a minutes before I realized what had done.
  11. It is a MRC. The plastic screws are still good. It is the flange on top of the cylinder body that the lid connects to.
  12. now I am looking for a calcium reactor. can someone recommend one?
  13. My calcium reactor was not working properly for a few days. There was no water coming out of the outlet tube even I open the water valve all the way up. I decided to find out what was going on this past weekend. I think the outlet tube was clogged. I ran the air hose from the air compress in the garage all the way to the reactor. I forced the air in use a blow gun thinking it is going to clear the clog. The air pressure blew the lid complete off. The calcium media scattered everywhere. Try not to do what I did.
  14. It is sealed by 8 plastic thumb screws right now but the water keep seeping through. It is hard to find a new O-ring. Don't even know the size. Does anyone here use other kind of gasket to seal the cover?
  15. I bought a small fish trap if you want to try. If you have a big tang it may not work.
  16. The package costs only $1. Hope BRK has them in stock.
  17. Does anyone know where I can get a Ph 10 calibration fluid in N. Va? Can I use Ph7 and Ph 4 to calibration ACIII my tank water? The manual calls for Ph 10 by I don't have it.
  18. Got a pair gold head sleepers two days ago. They are very cute but they make the tank cloudy and carry the sand all over my corals. I guess there is nothing perfect in this world.
  19. can you avoid the chiller when setting it up that way with MH?
  20. Well, I am still not on a CGFI. That thing trip periodically without anything happens. Is there one brand better than the other? Is there a way to install the CGFI on the fuse panel instead of the wall socket?
  21. I am looking for a pair of sand sifter goby, Two Spot and Rainford are my choice but I head they are hard to keep. Does anyone here keep them successfully? I have a 150G tank with a 2-3" sand bed.
  22. What are cup and lid? Don't you use them from the old skimmer? I have a CS8-3. I might consider doing this if no one wants to buy it.
  23. Bob built my stand and hood too. Very well made. Much better than you buy from the factory.
  24. I made one from a 100 ft 1/8" black tubing. It did not work well since the tube keep getting clogged. I think this has potential if it works. Cheap to make and useful for a large fish only system since water change just cost too much.
  25. I passed by Richmond and decided to stop by the store yesterday. I was impressed. It is THE best around VA and MD area. Seeing their display tank is worth he trip. Price is on the high side but has many selections. My schedule was tight. Only spend less than 30 minutes there.
