did you try to manually remove the crud? I did that plus the Furan and that worked like a charm.

To your original question..... cyano isnt hard to get off of the sand or corals, you should be able to just pull it off pretty easily... How do you have your power heads setup? I was having a cyano problem and it ended up being a flow issue... moved my PHs around and it was gone (after I manually removed as much as I could)

What are you using to check your salinity?

55 would be best, but a 20 long would be ok (that's what I used - mimic tang, two clowns, 2 chromis, firefish)... the more water changes the better. a little hang on the back filter/skimmer will help....
