How big are the Sundial snails? Are they easy to spot?

I got a response from AWT after complaining the low calcium reading. Is this a BS? We are not using a test kit to measure your water sample, rather a direct read probe. So yes, the Calcium results that you are going to get from us are going to be significantly different than what you were to read on a home test kit. Your water sample measured 306 ppm of Calicum on our probe. The discrepancy is an artifact of the testing methods. The titration based test kits that you are using cannot differentiate between the different forms that an element might take in your water. For example, calcium can be in the free/ionic form, but it can also be found in temporary associations with several other molecules such as carbonate, bicarbonate, fluoride, sulfate, phosphate, ect. Your test kit is essentially a calcium hardness test, telling you the total amount of calcium of all forms in the water. We use an Ion Specific Electrode for calcium. This electrode only “sees” calcium ions, or free calcium. The amount of free calcium will ALWAYS be lower than the total calcium. In natural seawater, where the ionic balances are constant and stable, the total calcium will be about 20% higher than the free calcium. In aquaria, where the water chemistry is much more variable and dynamic, that ratio is usually much wider. Since your concern about calcium levels pertains to coral growth, you should know that corals don’t really care what form the calcium is in. They prefer free calcium because it is the easiest form for them to use, but they will happily use whatever form is available, with only a tiny bit more metabolic energy expended to break the calcium ion away from whatever it is bound to. Very often, they will also find a use for the other molecule as well, for example, Phosphorus is the primary component of cellular membranes, carbonate can provide carbon for zooxanthallae, ect… In the end, what you really want to watch for is the stability of the ratio between the two measurements. This indicates a stable ionic balance and a more stable overall water chemistry. It is this kind of long-term water chemistry stability that corals really thrive in. I hope that this helps.

I am not trying to bad mouth about the store. I just described what happened when I was there 3 weeks ago. I did bought a pistol shrimp and goby there for a total of $50. F&F is selling the same thing for $30.
-
He wants $250 for a 10 polyps purple death in the back frag tank. Sigh..

I am talking about the one at the intersection of 355 and 28. This is their online store http://www.kingofcorals.com/index.html
-
Are we talking about the store off 355? Are you serious? Coral selections and price are so poor comparing to F&F and BRK. They want $25/polyp for purple death.

Check out the craiglist and the for sale as here if you are a member.

Does anyone know how to adjust these two elements? Potassium (K) ...............................Low............................................. 151 Boron (B) .....................................Low.....................................2.1

The PH is about 6.5. I just test the calcium level using Salifert test kit. It shows 400 PPM. My calcium has always around that range. It has never been below 380 not to mention 310.

I decide to order a water test. I sent the water out last Friday and I got the result from them today. I don't see how is it possible with a calcium reactor and Kalk. reactor my calcium is 306ppm. Based on Origami2547 estimation, I have about half of the PAR value as before. I am running 9-10 hours on MH right now. Not sure if it is enough.
-
The reason I switched is because a lot of my corals are turning white, especially the purple. My superman has NO purple. The Bonsai I got from Almon lost all the purple in 2 months. Oregon tort is all white on the body other than purple tips. There are other corals doing the same thing. I don't know what else to do other than changing the lights.
-
Great information there. Thanks. Let me know if you have any old 15K 250W bulbs.
-
My photo skill is not that good. Without proper white balancing the photo does not show the true color.
-
They are 4' bulbs I staggered together. So not all 5'x2' surface are covered. Still, the MH has much better ventilation than my old T5 setup.
-
So far my tank is running cooler with MH. Maybe it has something to do with my T5 was too close to the water surface and all 5'x2' surface with completed covered the the 8 reflectors.
-
I have finally switched my 8 T5 to 2 250W MH on a 5'x2' tank. I am using icecap ballasts and pendents with 20K radium bulbs. 1. 8 T5 seem more bright than MH. Not sure if it is because of the color of the bulbs. Do 8 T5 generate about the same intensity of 2 250W MH? 2. I was worry about the heat generated by MH. It is not a problem so far. I don't think it produce more heat than T5. 3. I am thinking to add 2 more bulbs for dawn and dusk. I have the option to go 2 T5 or 2 VHO with icecap 660. Which way would you recommend? 4. 20K bulb is really blue/actinic. Does anyone has some old different kind 15K bulbs I can borrow?

Was the husband or the wife who gave your the attitude? It was the wife who I had the problem with. The husband is reasonable.

I see. same procedure as the Wireless Extender mentioned previously.

How do you set it up to talk to the router?
-
So you plug ACIII to the adapter and the adapter talk to the router? Is it easy to set up? How does the adapter know which wireless router to use (I can see the neighbor's) ?
-
Powerline looks like a good option. I look at on embay. Netgear is like 3-4 times more than others. Does it matter which one I get?
-
My tank is too far from my internet wireless router. Is there a way to connect my ACIII to internet?
-
A wet tile saw is a much better choice.

Low PH - use outside air does not work, what else?
