I got a zoa and 2 SPS tonight. The owner told me that the zoa might have zoa spider. I went home dipped them in Revive and a "spider" fell off. This is the first time I have seen one and it really looks like a spider. I did a search in the forum and nothing helpful came up. Is this safe to put it in the tank now or do I need to worry about the eggs?

It was blue/green in color. Definitively not emerald green color.

I have had my LR for many years. I did get few rocks from other people about 2 years ago but they were in a tub with no heater or circulate for a month or two. I don't expect any crab or mantis shrimp can survive in that environment.

I bought a feather duster cluster side of a golf ball. Today I moved the cluster to a new spots. Few minutes later I noticed the ball moved towards the inside of a rock. I thought it was because the water current. I used a tool to grab the ball trying to take it out of the cave. While taking the ball out, I saw a blue/green claw right behind the cluster. I was sure it is a mantis shrimp or crab. Questions: 1. Do mantis shrimps really make snapping sounds? I hear the sound often but I don't know where it comes from. 2. How often do mantis shrimps eat small fish or hermit crabs? My fish and hermit crabs seems fine. 3. How often do mantis go out in day light? I have never seen it in my tank.

I have a 150G Oceanic Starphire glass tank, 60x24x24. Bought it 2-3 years ago for $1200.

I got one from them few weeks ago. It does not hold the calibration well. The ph value is very different from Neptune probe.

Can I use PINPOINT PH probe with the Neptune AC3? If Yes, would you recommend using it with the AC3? They seem to have better review than Neptune PH probe.

Lost power from 3 am to 1 pm. Then lost power again from 5:30 to now. Need to get some gas out of the car to keep the genrator running.

I tried to breed the skunk cleaner few years ago. The longest time I could keep them is 20 days. I should try to feed them cyclopeezes the next time.

8x54 T5 is much brighter than 2x250W MH and 2x54W T5. I did not acclimate when I change my setup.

I replaced the ORP probe with a second Ph probe in my AC III. I plan to use one to measure the calcium reactor ph and the other one to measure the tank water ph. After the calibrations of the first probe I put it into the sump, it shows ph 8.1. After the calibration of the second probe I put it into the sump also (about 2 ft apart between the probes), the reading of the first probe drops from 8.1 to 7.8 right away. It went back to 8.1 once I took the second probe out. Each probes seems to read correctly individually in the calibration solutions but not in the same water. Does it mean I can't use two probes in the same system at the same time? Bob

Is this possible to add the kalk. using the tank water instead of fresh make up water? This way I can add more kalk to raise the Ph.

I think mesh itself may not be as durable and not everyone is as handy as others.

Sedra 5000 is the original pump. I am thinking may be other pumps have more kick.

I have an Euro-Reef CS8-3 skimmer body. It is 8" ID and 30" tall. I would like to try a pin-wheel skimmer pump to replace the original one. It should be very easy to direct the water from the pump into the skimmer body. Can anyone think any reason why it wouldn't work? There are so many selections now, Eheim, Sicce, OPT 2000 etc. Can someone suggest a pin-wheel pump that has good performance, reasonable priced, good impeller replacement availability etc.. BTW, I can't believe the impeller for Eheim 1262 costs $100.

I tried to do the same thing when I was breeding clownfish. The adults stay alive in a bucket but I did not see enough babies.

I don't think they can reproduced well enough to feed the main tank.

I changed to an internal water pump for now while looking for an external one. How do you rebuild the pump? I thought it can't be opened.

I took the pump apart. Nothing blocks the impeller. I definitively need a new pump. Wonder who carry the pump locally.

It never needs to and the water is still in the hose so I assume it is primed.

My little giant pump (4MDQX-SC) wouldn't start after I shut it off to do a water change. Maybe it is because it is getting weak. I can hear the motor making sound when plugged in but wouldn't turn over. Is there a way to get it starts? Does anyone can loan me one for the time been? Thanks Bob
