    take them out and soak them in a hydrogen peroxide solution. works wonders for me and my zoas. on a small scale usually I put 1 cup to 1 gallon in a container to soak for 15 - 20 minutes. this is for treatment, for maintenance after water changes I use 1ml per 10 gallons of system volume, this is done probably once a month.

    nah Haywood is like a cockroach, he'll be around gathering reefing equipment till the end of days! I bet he turned off the skimmer cleaned it out, added new carbon and let it run overnight.

    all the years in this hobby running UV I have never seen any real effect on skimmers ability of pulling waste out of the water. I know if you are going to keep a lot of expensive fish adding a UV would be a great choice.

    if you chose to do so I have a Aqua UV 40 watt with brand new bulb and quartz sleeve.I was going to use this on my big tank build that never came together (built 2 smaller reefs instead! haha)

    One solution that I found is that my controller was outdated with an update and once updated all problems were solved.
