  1. No. I decided size and where I wanted everything placed then got to building.
  2. My problem is time. I'd like to raise more but the time investment prevents me from putting any effort into it.
  3. No. Still have the survivor. The pair have spawned a few times but the male is either eating the eggs or spitting them out.
  4. I picked up a couple of more pieces for the setup. Working lots of hours so I haven't had much time to set anything up. Icecap 48XL Sump/Refugium from a member here. 48" ATI 8x54 watt T5 Dimmable SunPower fixture
  5. I purchased a 30 gallon rimless reef ready frag tank and had to return it due to one corner being aligned horribly. Pretty shocked the tank made it through their QA department. The replacement came and it looks nice. However... It was missing the stainer in the overflow kit for the drain. Haven't filled it with water yet but hope it lives up to my expectations. Still a hardcore Perfecto/marineland fan. If they made a tank in the 24x24x12 range I'd have ordered their brand instead.
  6. If you feel up for a drive I got a very very good deal from Joe at Fish World in Richmond on a new 120 gallon reef ready Marineland tank.
  7. Have the stand all framed up. Next step is to get the ply wood cut and shelf built. After that it's getting moved inside to finish the top where tanks will sit. Stand is 96"Lx42"Hx32"W.
  8. I got started on the stand today after work. Only had a couple of hours until I ran out of 2x6's and screws but I got the top half way done. I probably had enough until I decided to overbuild things. Back to the lumber store bright and early before work for a few more 2x6's and more screws.
  9. Upgrading the 65 gallon tank I set up late last summer with a brand new Marineland 120 gallon reef ready display as well as a new Deep Blue Pro 30 gallon rimless frag tank. Plan to use the same equipment on the 120 and 30 that I can but I'll have to upgrade the lighting for the display as well as the skimmer. Here's everything sitting in the room that's being remodeled that it will go in. It'll take a few weeks at least before I can get started on it but hope to start the stand over the holiday.
  10. I've been a long time fan of Perfecto/Marineland tanks.
  11. No change with mine. It's been closed up for a little bit over a week. Still just one polyp but there looks to be a baby emerging.
  12. Day 7 - 22: Slowly lost a fry every few days. Down to 6. Day 23: Lost all of the fry except 1 due to my error when cleaning the isolation tank. Netted them and set the net on rim of tank. Net ended up letting all but one of them go and the clowns quickly devoured them. Day 24-26: Single fry still doing well and growing quickly. A few lessons I've learned in all this is next time I'll have a 10 gallon tank set up and ready to go when I get the next batch. I'll also make sure to have some live food on hand for them. Although the remaining fry seems to be growing on the frozen BBS I'd like to have something more nutritious. Also next time I'll use less selcon when feeding frozen. Instead of every other feeding I'll cut it down to twice per week. The fish are very fragile also. It seemed like every time I took them from their container to clean it and then placed them back I'd always lose 1 or 2 the next day. The 10 gallon tank will help eliminate having to move them.
  13. No doubt! I still have just a single polyp. You have to share your secret!
  14. Day 4: 18 fry still. All seem ok except one seems to stay in the bottom corner of box. Day 5: Lost 1 fry. Found one in corner dead. Day 6: Cleaned isolation box they were in as you could see food building up on mesh. Lost 2 fry later in the day. Not sure if it was from stress of other. Day 7: 15 fry remain but 2 still hanging in what we've started calling the death corner. Added a little bit of mesh to help slow the flow through the box. I'm still feeding frozen BBS but going to try some calanus in the morning to see if they are big enough to take it for a little variety. I've read they need to be fed at least 5 times per day. Unfortunately I'm only managing 3-4. Today I'll feed the 5 times but it's a bit difficult during the week.
  15. I got dino's pretty badly last year after my tank cycled. Lights out for 72 hours and dosing of peroxide for 13 days got rid of it for me. Can't say which did it but it's gone. Days 1-3 Lights out and tank covered with thick heavy blankets. Dosed 0.5ml of peroxide per 10 gallons of water volume. It's important to know your total water volume vs how much your tank/sump can hold. You don't want to overdose. Days 4-6 Just actinics on normal cycle. Dosed tank with 1ml of peroxide per 10 gallons of water volume. Days 7-9 Lights back to normal schedule. Dosed tank with 1ml of peroxide per 10 gallons of water volume. Days 10 Lights on normal schedule. Dosed tank with 1ml of peroxide per 10 gallons of water volume. Days 11-13 Lights normal. Dosed 0.5ml of peroxide per 10 gallons of water volume. I noticed on the 5th and 6th days there was some dino trying to come back. On day 7 it was gone though and I haven't seen it since. No ill effects to anything else in the tank except maybe some red macroalgae. I've come to believe that is because I don't have sufficient lighting over my refugium though.
  16. Not yet. Hope to stick with the frozen BBS unless I have to switch. I plan to do a little experimenting also with them concerning food. Figured documenting it would help me as well as other in the future. I got the nano pack of BBS. The others I'll cut in half or something. What I'm doing now is putting them in a little water and Selcon in the morning inside a glass jar then feeding and storing the rest in the jar in the mini fridge in the fish room. It's kept at 34 degrees. I plan to use that over the day to feed. The coral, pods, and clowns are enjoying the food that makes it out of the isolation box. They will be available for sure.
  17. Figured I'd start a log/journal on this here to document things. There's a lot on the internet about it but I didn't see any log/journal style posts. Not sure I'll be successful but either way any information could be useful. Day 1: Fished out all of the babies as they came out of the rocks. 18 total in all including 1 that made it from the display down into the sump them through a pump and into the refugium. Plaend them into isolation box that's in frag tank with a fake urchin-ish thing I made. Day 2: Frantically tried to find something they would eat with no luck. I'd read that live food was all they would take but found a guy on a message forum swearing by frozen. His thoughts were that baby cardinals when hungry would try anything. He was right. Sort of... After trying frozen plankton and frozen cyclops (both seemed too big for them) and them not even looking at it I started to worry. While in Richmond I picked up some brine shrimp eggs, frozen baby brine shrimp, and some expensive frozen calanus. I hoped they'd eat one of the 2 until I could get some shrimp hatched. I tried the calanus first and like before it was just too big for them (my other fish loved it btw). Next up was the frozen baby brine shrimp. They were all over it. Score 1 for the internet guy I guess. I didn't set up anything to hatch the brine shrimp eggs as the frozen is much easier. I'm adding one of the mini cubes to a little water and soaking it in 2 drops of Selecon. I've fed them 4 times today. Day 3 morning: Still have 18 this morning and they were all hungry. Fed more frozen baby brine shrimp soaked in Selcon.
  18. My girlfriend and I were up the last couple of hours catching tiny banggai fry when they made it into the open tank and now I'm tasked with trying to raise the little things. I understand most if not all may not make it but in an effort to keep from sleeping on the couch because I didn't at least try I need some advice. We've read a lot on the internet the last few hours and it all seems like pretty much recycled info. Found one decent site that helped a bunch but looking for anyone with some first hand info as to what I should feed or is there anything special I should do to take care of them. At the moment there's about 18 in a isolation box hanging on the side of the frag tank. If I can keep them alive and growing I was thinking about putting them in the refugium where there's tons of pods and bugs for them to eat. I have some reef plankton and cyclops I'm going to try and feed tomorrow as well as I hope to pick up some lobster or prawn roe. One of the forums I was reading had a thread by a guy that's raised them and he says feed frozen and if they take it stay away from live since it's hard to switch them. Hopefully the little things are hungry enough to try it at least. Not really interested in locating or trying to hatch baby brine shrimp.
  19. I've always just rinsed everything I clean in vinegar and then put it right back in use. Even after a soak.
  20. Great guy. He as well as Roozens will be missed.

  22. Pick up at your home would be best for me.
  23. The Pro looks incredibly similar to the Lifeguard Quiet One Pro Series pumps. Incredibly. I use the Syncra Silent pumps and I'm very happy with them.
