  1. I didn't get any on the live rock I picked up locally sadly. Just pests. Hoped to order live rock but couldn't get a ETA from anyone because of the storm that hit Florida. Stoma's broadcast eggs and sperm. Free coral and critter food when it happens along with more stoma's. Great little critters. Hope to find some sooner or later.
  2. Same for me. I noticed a pretty big mass of strings on the silicon tonight. Covering the whole bit of silicon in the corner for about 6 inches. Guess a bonus is if they continue to grow I'll never have to worry about the hermits having shells. Now if I could only find some stomatella's to add to the tank.
  3. Have been seeing a bunch of these baby snails over the last few weeks in my tank after noticing some egg strings on the glass. They look like ceriths but I'm not for certain. Finally they are big enough to get a photo of them. Ceriths or something else? In all the years I've had tanks I've never had snails successfully reproduce beside stoma's.
  4. Thanks. Yes, I kept most of the rock away from the glass in the back with hopes it will help with blowing things around and keeping stuff from getting trapped. I also created some tunnels with the rock from front to back to help with that. The tank has a lot of flow so things don't get much time to settle.

  8. Thanks. Spent a while there looking and came up short.
  9. I'd guess it's calciferous. No 3D characteristics. It does looks similar to lobophora but the bits I have are growing in a sheet. I found that piece encrusting a rock I have a frag mounted to. There's another spot that's encrusting on the egg crate. Noticed more as I looked further. Have a top down camera attachment coming this week so hope to get some better shots with my dslr when that arrives.
  10. It does, but definitely not a monti. It's pretty flexible and thin and easily removed.
  11. Found some sort of encrusting algae hanging out in my frag tank and can't find a ID. Not the greatest picture but any help?
  12. I get better growth with more flow. My refuge is about 9 gallons and I have a sicce syncra 1.5 running water through it. It's rated for 358 gph but I'm guessing with head loss I'm getting around 300-325 gph. I had a smaller pump before and was getting a 10x turn over rate. Nothing was growing well. When I replaced the pump and things started getting blown around and tumbled the gracilaria and caulerpa took off.
  13. I'd treat just to be safe. I recently got a couple of fish from the keys and had to treat 2 clowns for something they picked up from those fish. The neon goby pair I got looked fine during acclimation but when I saw them later it looked as if one had ich. In a few days it was all clear so I didn't think any more about it. I made the mistake of not quarantining them unfortunately and lost the larger clown. I was worried at first it was brooklynella but they never showed signs beyond rapid breathing, stringy white poop, and being reclusive. Both were in different tanks that share a sump but had the same behavior. Both went into the left front corner of their tanks and just kind of were listless and not at all interested in food. I set up a hospital tank and treated with Rid Ich Plus for a week then lost the larger clown on the 7th day. I then switched to Metroplex added to water and it's working great. Little clown is back to normal and eating great and I'm pretty sure will make a complete recovery. I'll probably treat with PraziPro before it's over just to cover all basis. Not sure what came into the system from those fish but it only affected my clowns which is the reason I assumed it was brook. Not sure what exactly it is though. None of the other fish in the tank including other clowns have shown any symptoms of anything so far. It's only been a couple of weeks so my fingers are crossed however. I've been keeping saltwater fish since I was 12 (I'm in my 40's now) and this is the first time I have had a hospital tank or "medicine cabinet" for the fish with more medicine on the way. I've been lucky I guess. Nothing goes in now without spending some time in the quarantine tank.
  14. Go for it. I've had them in 36" tanks before and as long as you take Cliff's advice and move it (perfect reason for bigger tank one day) once it gets bigger it'll be alright. Try to get the smallest one you can find. I have a little one now in my 65 gallon that my girlfriend insisted we get while in BRK a few weeks back. The thing is a spaz. It's in and out of the rock work constantly.
  15. I'm in for spot 13 if no one has claimed it.
  16. Mine's at 80.5. It's always seemed to be the sweet spot for me.
  17. After a far too long hiatus I've decided to jump back in with a new 65 gallon. Decided to go with almost everything new after much debating except for the frag tank and light and a old pump. It's up and running so I'm a little late to the game with the building but here's a couple of pics before water. It's been up and running a couple of weeks but I've just got around to getting some live rock in it the other day to get the cycle going and add some little clean up creatures. Still have lots of things to build, hook up, and run but I can't wait to start stocking it and get to collecting and trading frags again after everything is squared away. 18. It's a nice place for sure. I've been finding myself heading south instead of north lately when I need something or want to browse. I need to convince John and Marvin to both open up a store here so I wouldn't have to choose.
  19. This has been my favorite for a while. http://www.oceanswonders.com/catalog/item/5617791/5520832.htm
  20. I personally like the Marineland Stealth heaters. I've used them for years without a single problem. The new models I like a bunch.
