  1. The only luck I've had with getting rid of them is steaming (or you could boil) the rock for about 15-30 minutes. I agree with the epoxy and kalk method. It just doesn't stop these things IME.
  2. I'm in Orange. I know of a few in the Fredericksburg area as well as a few near Culpeper.
  3. Maybe... Eventually they'll end up in other tanks and I'll keeps my favorites in this tank. That's my plan... But I like the bigger tank idea.

  5. Just wanted to add an update to my order and experience with them. I placed an order last week (Thursday morning) for a Reef Octopus DNW-150 skimmer, 1/2" ball valve, and Koralia 1 pump. Received the skimmer and ball valve today and pump is on back order. Everything was packed nice and arrived in perfect condition. I'll be ordering more from the in the future I'm sure.
  6. I'll add another... A couple of weeks ago I had a problem with an in-line DI filter. Gave them a call and had one 2 days later free of charge. Great service.
  7. Placed an order with them this morning and noticed a discrepancy in the charge on my banking account versus my order. Called them just now to find out the pump I ordered was on back order till Monday. He explained it will be shipped then and the rest of my order was shipped today. Pretty pleased. If I wasn't so impatient and had waited for the shipping email I'd have seen the problem. I'll update how the rest of the process goes. The RC5 coupon works btw.
  8. Wow. Those photos are incredible.
  9. If you want something that will work your sand over and your heart isn't set on a goby... Try a pistol shrimp. I have 2 pistol shrimp and goby pairs in 2 tanks and I swear the shrimp have CAT stamped on their sides.
  10. Congrats and good luck. The few times I've had baby clowns I've used cyclopeeze along with baby brine shrimp.
  11. My t-5 are on the following schedule. 10 am actinics on (2x39 watts) 11 am actinics and daylight bulbs on (1 39 watt actinic & 3 10,000k daylight) 9 pm actinics and daylight off 10 pm actinics off
  12. Any pics of the "Bellina Acro "?
  13. Let it grow. That will be the coolest frag rack EVER! lol
  14. Add the water first. It's kinda the same principle as mixing salt. The water then whatever you're adding to it.
  15. 30 gallon with 20 gallon sump 75 gallon with 30 gallon sump 90 gallon with 55 gallon sump
  16. The pic I found of a fireworm wasn't very close to those things. It was the closest unfortunately. LeslieH posted the following reply on RC. "Those are polychaetes most likely in the family Syllidae. They're epitokes - a special modified form that occurs when the worms become sexually mature. In this case the posterior portion of the worm has transformed into a delivery system complete with big eyes, packed full of eggs or sperm, and special setae (= bristles) for swimming. Males & females swim up into the water to spawn. Once the gametes are ejected the individual dies." I asked if they were harmful and her reply was "Not in the least.". So I guess they get to stay. I'll pull a few out if you want them. I'm a long drive for some little pink, blue, and red maggot looking things though. lol. Can drop them off at the next wamas function I make it to.
  17. I turned my 30 gallons light back on a few minutes after the actinics went out to show a friend the tank really quick and found these things out and about. Haven't seen them before and was wondering if anyone could help with an ID. Checked my 75 gallon and 90 gallon tank and the 75 has them also. Didn't see any in the 90. They look like little maggots. I searched a bit for an ID and the only thing I could find similar was a pic of a fire worm. Not a 100% match though.
  18. That's pretty cool.
  19. 90 - Cheato 75 - Cheato 30 - Cheato , a snail I can't find any pics or info concerning, and a small serpent star that has a taste for hermits.
  20. Argh why do these sales have to be so tempting! I told Ozzy I won't be back for a month. Can you arrange for him to be off this weekend and ignore I was there if I make it? I'll even buy a "frag mag" without his persistence.
  21. Doug (dbartco) has adopted him. Thanks Doug and to everyone that responded here or in pm's offering him a home.
  22. Yes. It was caught at the seagull pier on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.
  23. I went saltwater fishing today and ended up bringing home a seahorse that wouldn't leave the crab trap we had out all day. Literally. He was the first thing in the trap (twine trap) and after repeated attempts to lower him into the water and wait it was always pulled back up with him in it. Even after removing the bait and leaving the trap on the bottom all day I pulled it up this evening and there he was. So... Bad I know. But after getting him to let go of the trap I felt the 50 foot fall to the water would be much worse. So now I have a seahorse and no place to put him but a 30 gallon with 20 sump. Or a large in tank refuge. I've kept them a few times before and have had good success but I was wondering however if anyone had a dedicated seahorse tank that he could find a new home in? There's plenty of places for him to attach in my 30 but I've got a water turnover in the tank of about 40 times per hour and I believe this will be a little much for him to handle. Along with the clowns and the corals which I'm sure wouldn't end up in a good way for the horsie. So anyone? And did I mention he's pregnant...
  24. I have the Extreme Pro over my 30 and I love the light.
  25. That's organics and proteins built up that form the skim on the top of the water if I'm not mistaken. My over flows take care of it for me. In the sump it's my skimmers surface skimmer that gets it.
