  1. Ben, we have a few What kind of skimmer are you looking for? Hang on the back or in sump? I'm sure we have a used Tsunami ATO.
  2. John, you are kind, but I gotta laugh. I'd need to rent a tractor trailer. MaxiJet pumps from $5 External pumos from $20 MH ballasts $40 MH pendants $40 Sumps $40 T-5 Retro kits 6 ft fixtures Skimmers Lots lots more... must make room. Sam is finding more stuff all the time. Come in Saturday!
  3. There is a lot to tell about Jelly tanks and caring for the Jellyfish, come in this weekend and spend some time with one of our aquarists. With the right design and a little help in the beginning, an experienced reef keeper should be successful. The Cubic 60 we have on display retails for $1299 but we are now taking pre-orders for the Orbit 20 which will be under $400.
  4. Sam is back. Brittany has been back for a while. I guess we would have had to take both answers.
  5. Seriously, Guess who is back. Post here on the forum and then show up tomorrow. If your guess is right, win $5 off any purchase of $5 or more. Multiple guesses allowed. Only good tomorrow. Phil
  6. I'm not sure who Mitch is, or anything about a puppy... I'm not sure we are on the same page, but we do have a big beautiful used aquarium for sale! We are at 11141 Lee Highway Fairfax VA 22030 Look for the blue awning building and we are around back. Walk in hours are Friday 2:00-6:00 and Saturday 10:00-4:00. Someone may be in tomorrow if you want to make an appointment there may be someone there, but maybe not someone that can answer questions, just let you in to look. About what time are you thinking?
  7. This tank and stand have got to go to make room for a custom display. Willing to toss in a few extras like used T-5 Lights, pumps, skimmers, sump.
  8. I take stuff to my brother in CT all the time. It is an 8 hour drive, plus time to pack up the kids and time when we get there to say hello to the family and stuff. Bags, rubber bands and a styro cooler are all you need for 5-8 XL, 20 Medium, or 40 frags. Assuming you can keep them at near room temp (72-78 degrees) during the trip you will be fine for 12-24 hours. 24-48 and you should use oxygen or an air pump. There are great ones that run on D batteries and serve as an auto-on air supply if your power goes out later... can save your whole tank. 2 full days is rough. If we have a livestock shipment and it misses a flight connection causing it to take 48 hours or more, we usually have losses.... but packed in O2, most of the coral live. 3 days and I would expect everything to be dead. We have bags, rubber bands and styros I'd be happy to give you. battery air pumps are under $20. shoot me an email. Phil@reefescape.net
  9. Any LFS can order something for you. Few will have very many options in stock and ready to go out the door. We are in Fairfax, stop by Friday afternoons or Saturday, you could have it delivered (or pick up) by Tuesday. What size tank do you have?
  10. At the pet show this weekend we will be displaying: Radion Gen 3 Pro lights DC pumps Baby Seahorses Jellyfish Reef tanks, freshwater tanks and much more There will also be show-only discounts and specials. Hope to see you there.
  11. It is fine for the water, but if that line is going to be under pressure, I would expect it to burst. Home depot sell 1/4 poly in 10 ft lengths. Many good aquarium shops :o) sell it in lengths cut to order.... including Reef eScape,
  12. If you can do what you want without moving the tank... that is the way to go. I would not recommend an aquarium that size even a foot without taking everything out of it. Just too much risk in popping one of the seams. Okay, maybe the sand bed can stay if it isn't too deep. It would be a lot of work. Say 2 guys most of the day to empty and fill the tank and an additional 4 big strong guys for the actual move. You are on the right track of draining / pumping all the water out, moving it and then pumping it back in. Fill "clean water" tubs for the fish and coral before you start moving rocks. Have lots of new water ready to go and dispose of a bunch of water (the last of what you drain after you start stirring up the sand by taking out rocks) Have air pumps for the fish, a few tubs for live rock and a tank with circulation pumps for the coral. Good luck

  15. Last call. Actually up to 5 buckets. Goes in the dumpster unless someone wants it.
  16. Thanks Rob, Can you get in touch and let him know I'm looking for him? I've tried email, facebook and WAMAS PM... none have gotten a response yet. Phil
  17. I beleive that only Matt W & ORA have been successful... very difficult.
  18. Includes bucket and Lid! *** 1 bucket each please, unless others go unclaimed. *** Maybe more like 4 or 5 years, but yea, a rinse would be a good idea. Use water from a water change (not tap water) if you want to keep the sand "live." Let us know if these times do not work, we may be able to accomodate.
  19. Walter, (or anyone that knows him) We met at the Reef eScape / Dr. Mac social and we took 6 of the horses you have been breeding. All 6 are doing grea, and we even had a small batch of our own babies (only one lived, but we were happy to have some success on our 1st attempt.) We have 2 customers that want seahorse tanks and we need more adults. Do you have more available? I tried sending you an email but never hear back. Please call or write Phil@reefescape.net (703) 943-6631 Thanks Phil
  20. Thanks for the responses. The cysts we had in the fridge (for years) hatched better than expected and the baby ponies are eating them and seem to be doing okay.
  21. Matt, Great question, thanks for asking! In a word, YES. In 7 words: We will not sell a sick fish. Here is the long answer... Reef eScape is the QT facility for the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History Aquarium (an aquarium we also maintain.) As a function of working with the Vet that oversees our work with the Smithsonian (he is also the Vet that oversees the entire Baltimore Aquarium) we have been exposed to tools and techniques that are above and beyond the standard for the aquarium industry. We are also fortunate enough to have on speed dial one of the foremost experts in marine fish health. He also visits our location and has had input on the design of our QT equipment. I have a working knowledge of the QT process of most of the saltwater aquarium stores in the area. Some are pretty good, some are terrible. I feel strongly that our process produces fish that are among the healthiest and "cleanest" you can buy anywhere at any price. It is for this reason that we are able to offer a 30 day stay alive guarantee on fish to our service customers. We can't offer that 30 day to retail customers because we don't control the environment the fish is going into, but you are getting the same QT process. Brittany (Reef eScape's livestock manager) has worked both with the National Aquarium Animal Care Facility and the Smithsonian National Zoo Invert house. She also spoke at the last WAMAS meeting about her field research in Hawaii on coral reproduction. We can't go into every detail about what we do and do not do for QT, nor can we give every Blue-Green Chromis a 90 day QT protocol and still sell it at a price you would find appealing. It is also worth pointing out that no QT protocol is able to provide 100% elimination of every disease or parasite. However, in 6+ years of maintaining (and providing livestock for) 100s of service and installation customers in the DC area... thousands of animals have passed through our doors and in that time we have had exactly 2 cases of disease break out in our customer tanks. In both cases, errors were made, the cause was identified and steps taken to prevent those errors from happening again. All fish are treated for a minimum of 10 days. All are observed to take normal aquarium trade foods before being made available for sale. For all of our fish, we suggest a slow acclimation (one hour or more) and discarding of 100% of the transport water.
  22. Sorry, the 3-section acrylic tank is not for sale. The 26gallon bow front is spoken for, but if you are interested let us know... we may have others available. Phil
  23. We feed our 20" Zebra Moray: Scallops, Shrimp, Squid and more. I find that the greatest issue is getting the nearly blind animal comfortable with the surroundings, and surprisingly.... more tank mates seems to help a lot. We feed the Eel Saturdays at 4:00... it's a free show! Phil
  24. For the record, it wasn't one freebie... we gave away 15 or 20 2-3 head Frogspawn frags. Should we do it again? When?
