  1. Okay, you can't see the member only section can you? 1. Join. :D You have a 75g tank, yer into it, might as well. Further, this is a great source of info, help and stuff (including frags) I havn't been a member long but it has been VERY helpfull!!! 2. I'll send the guy selling the stuff a PM if you can't. Here is the post. Boy, I hope I'm not breaking a rule posting a "members only" post to a non member section? Grav ------ Originally purchased from SNAPPER (eric) a couple months ago and has not been used since. I decided I did not want to hook the lights up, instead sold my tank. Specs: Hamilton DUAL 175w eballast. Black housing, sockets, power cords, no reflector 1 12k sunburst, w/ approx 6 months life left. Lights have possibly 6 months use? Maybe Eric can confirm this. I'll let it go for $120. ssaldana
  2. There is a dual 175 MH setup in the For Sale section.
  3. I just grabbed 5 bags at the HD at West Ox and Rt. 29. Lawn and garden section outside, NOT in the building section. The only product not on a rack, way in the back on the right. There is a whole skid. Still not sure about this SKU thing. Aquariua USA raised a question on 2 diffrent kinds that never got answered. It didn't say Southdown but some other Co. Name in PA. Clear plastic bag with blue ink backround, red& white letters "Soft texture - sterilized - silica-free - From the Caribbaean" as Zomby said. $4.95 / 50 lb. bag
  4. Live in Fairfax, work in Tysons... soon to have a tank in both places.

    The LFS

Beltway, Yep that was me. That is too funny!! He was the nice guy in the story. It may have been after you left, but he warmed up after a few min. That place was like heaven after the 1st store. They acted like I had a case of Ick.

    The LFS

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. It is good to know that I'm neither alone, nor crazy. Heck I'd rather trade it for anything, or give it to a newbie than flush or sell it for less than what I paid for the LR it is on. BTW, What is CMAS? Better yet, what is underwater rugby? www.cmas.org
  7. I don't want this to sound like I'm crying cuz I didn't get my way, just trying to understand. I also don't want to hurt anyones business so I'm leaving out names. Having gotten into this fraging thing, I've given it a few goes and I've had some success. Managed to frag a 3 or 4 inch Leather and some Xena pom poms. Anyway I walked in to the store feeling quite proud of myself. I had a pepermint and the Xena in tow and was planning to trade up to a skunk cleaner, get some LR and of course whatever else did it for me at the time. To my surprise, I ended up not being congradulated as a "wizzard of the reef" as I expected, rather I ended up feeling like a 4nd class passenger on the Titanic. "We don't do that today, I could take them from you but I can't give you credit." and "I don't think he will want the Pom Pom, we already have ONE." Was the answer. Now I was off to the next LFS, slightly diffrent story, simmilar result. Got the nice "atta boy!" I was looking for. "Xena are harder to frag than people think, you need good water quality to do it. HOWEVER, we are growing 8 diffrent breeds in the back..." Maybe he was blowing smoke up my but, but at least he was nice. I got $2 for the shrimp (okay) picked out some stuff and upon returning home, place the Xena right back where it came from. Is this normal? Granted it was a weekend, but the place was empty at the time. Really, all I wanted was a $10 or $15 credit, and I would have spent $50 like I do every time. Did I do something wrong? Was I off in my understanding of how the LFS views fragging?

    lone clown

If you get your hands on a small heater that would be a good thing when doing water changes, for such a small tank. HOWEVER, it isn't critical IMO. I run a 30g tank, I have several fish and Inverts including some of the more fragile. I never preheat water in changes, but I do let it sit over night to come up to room temp. Generally you change more than 25% at a time anyway, but it the temps are far off keep it to 10% at a time and you shouldn't have an issue.
  9. Okay, I couldn't seem to get it posted here, but I got it onto Reefs.org Thanks again for all the feedback http://reefs.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=292163#292163 posted a few pics at reefs.org
  10. Thanks for the feedback. I've got 2 pepermints in there now, and I've been planning to swap them for a cleaner. I can't imagine a Tank Raised fish going to a "cleaning station" but I'd love to see it. I've tried to take a Pic, but he is so quick! I really don't think it a color change but a wound of some kind... perhaps a crab gave him a nip or something.
  11. I've had this tank for over a year and this little Clown was my 1st marine fish. Until a few weeks ago, I had not lost a fish in about 6-8 months. Shortly after giving up on my 1st LTA (thanks to all for the attempt at helping), I THOUGHT my pygmy angle had Ick. I gave him a quick FW dip and moved him to a hospital tank, he looked fine, even ate in the new home, but he didn't make it through the night. Back to the Clown. He has on his belly a dark gray, almost black, patch. Other than that he seems great. Very active, eating well, no scratching normal resperation, clear eyes... all good. Infact, he is so active & moving so fast, I can't tell if this is a "fuzzy patch" on his skin or an indentation or neither. Water tests great. Other fish seem fine. Doesn't seem to be "Clown Desease" or Black Ick. Any feedback would be great!
  12. Thanks again for the ideas, but sadly it is no longer an issue. Tried the cleaner, tried re-hydrated krill... nothing. Was looking very very bad. Today got home, tenticals were totally withdrawn and it looked like the guts were about to spill, base looked like it was falling apart. Not taking any chances I removed him.
  13. Okay, I have a dead cleaner shrimp in the Freezer (yes raw ??? ) Died on the way home. How bout that
  14. Okay "place" it on there?
  15. Thanks for the feedback. I don't think it has a chance of taking in one of these shrimp, just not big' nuff. I have some pre-cooked table shrimp in the house, how is that? Just shove it in there?
  16. This is my 1st one and it is small, about 2 inches across. It was sold to me as an LTA, yet Tentacles don't seem as long as pics I see. I've had it for 2 weeks. Some times it looks great, other times it seems to swallow itself, right now the mouth is HUGE and the tentacls are tiny! It's in a 33gal tank (same foot print as a 55, but shorter) and has 130 watts of PC. I don't think that light is the problem. Everything I test: PH, ALk, Calcium, temp, iodine, Amonium, Nitrate, Nitrite... all are right on. However, I did learn to add PH up VERY slowly. I have 2 pepermint shirmp (Lysmata wurdemanni) that have been picking at it... clearly not appreciated. I had assumed that they would get stung sooner or later and learn a lesson, but that seems not to be the case. Should I get them out? I've tried feeding it a little, brine and phytoplankton... can't tell if it is really eating anything. Should I give it something more significant? Gammarus, Krill, pellets? The pepermints? (kidding) To round out my frustration the TR A. Ocellaris loved the thing on the 1st day and hasn't been back. Thanks VERY much for ANY help or suggestions.
  17. I was using R/O D/I water and water was good. A bulb went bad and next thing I know a I had a shair algae problem. 20 snails and 20 hermit crabs wouldn't take care of. I picked up one Sally Lightfoot and one Emerald crab and they cut through it like a weed wacker. Just one idea.
