  1. Chromis? I have 2 percs, a YWG and a single BG Chromis in my 20L and they all go nuts when I go down to the tank. The chromis and the percs all swim together.
  2. what is a pill bug? Looks cool Jason - I would go with the eel here, you can train it to feed near the surface and it will be completely exposed because of how tall it is.
  3. lmao I just researched this fish - check this out from the description on marinedepotlive: "Best known for it's eventual belligerent attitude, this fish can be shy when introduced but will get over this behaviour quite quickly. Should be housed as the only trigger as it is likely to attack tankmates eventually. Will likely bite your hand, be sure you know where this pretty specimen is at all times when reaching into your tank. " Jason - you have to get this and impress mjf by feeding it from your hand.
  4. I'm not good enough with photoshop to put Doug's head on this - http://cgi.ebay.com/VIKING-HAT-Huge-Plush-...1QQcmdZViewItem Bob - is the tank staying there, or are you somehow going to haul both into some other room?
  5. You should see what she's writing on her myspace page . . .
  6. probably not - the downside of trying to use air vents is that the rushing water can actually suck more air back in and through your plumbing. I even had one setup where I used a '+' shaped connector for double air venting and my sump looked like a hottub.
  7. No glue man - the PVC all terminates to a hose barb that matches the hosebarb connection on your megaflow bulkhead fitting Then use stainless steel hose clamps to clamp down on a short piece of that braiding tubing you are using to connect them. I can take more pictures tonight - let me know. jp
  8. I love that video. I think that everybody has had to tackle this issue with their tanks, and you'll get a number of testimonials on how to fix it. Here's mine: No crazy plumbing t's and air ports and whatnot - and no bubbles with an eheim 1260 wide open, pictured below in a very old picture. I copied what Sean has behind the scenes at F&F.
  9. fish are opportunistic feeders - they really don't care about the time of day or lighting conditions and are probably amazed that food floats their way every day - it would never be like that in the wild.
  10. it looks like a single sliding glass door, but I can't tell if there is a deck or something outside. I'd be more worried about all the direct sunlight hitting the tank from those windows and adding to heat\algae issues.
  11. ooooooooohhh this is an oldie but a goodie . . http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/sept2004/feature.htm Sean #2 got me hooked on the Bio-Assay they sell at F&F. HTH jp
  12. I suppose you could plumb a snake up and along the tank side and then hide it with your rockwork. I've read plenty on the remote bucket DSB thing being a farce - you can't run the water over that small of surface area to denitrate it effectively, if at all - the same reason it does nothing in a tiny HOB fuge. you mean that plasma?
  13. I hope it works out buddy, I'm nervous for you regarding that intake but you are indeed boned if you want the 360 thing - although you could plumb through the wall at one of the sides too, and hide the pipe against the archway. I have no doubts you know what you are doing. With that much surface area, you could do a 4-5" sand bed and scrap the remote bucket thingy.
  14. gate valve is a must! I could never go back to that sliding standpipe and foam sponges.
  15. You are very lucky!! My percs will follow me around if I am in front of the tank so once when I was bored I sat in front of my RBTA for over a half hour, forcing them to swim very close to the RBTA. I thought I saw them thinking about jumping in but that could have just been the margaritas. They do not care at all, but I am going to try that target feeding trick.
  16. yes, the red is cyano and cutting your lights back will quickly help reduce it. I run actinic for 11 hours and full lighting for five - FWIW. jp
  17. that's as cool as it gets man - excellent job, your plumbing is stellar! Love the plasma too. I didn't have luck with the Fusion, let us know how it goes. jp I just noticed that too, don't think I've ever seen an intake on the bottom - what are the plans?
  18. they must no longer be a sponsor? Maybe you could email them and ask?
  19. strange that you mentioned this - when I was meshmodding my Octo I noticed that the pink ceramic rod was slightly curved, and I replaced mine with CF rod. I wonder if that's a common occurance with this pump.
  20. Tomatos love the BTA! I like the GSP too - looks great! jp
