here's what I got, only from this thread - numbers are alive/purchased. It is really cool that folks here are honest about what they are seeing. jp - 1/1 no QT. Fish picking at pallys, frogspawn and possibly monti cap. grav - ?/3 jamesbuf - 1/4 YB - 1/3 4Runner - 1/3 rsarvis - 1/3 That gives me 4/14 still alive after a month (!), with three other known purchased that are unaccounted for. It looks like BRK had 35, not sure how many are still at the store.

holy cow that's 10 now I think unless I double counted - I have to back through this thread and get a count. Who would have thought this fish would be so hard to keep.

I love my Octopus, I would be amazed if you could beat it for the price and a little DIY. Don't know if you are wanting in sump or recirc. Check the lighting and filtration forum on RC - you can spend weeks going through all the threads that start just like yours. jp

yep, I would be nervous about unglued rubber and hose clamps at that pressurized point, but I guess any connection can fail.

i don't see you but I hate it if I think I got a good shot and then when I view it I see my hands holding the camera or the logo of a hat I'm wearing. Anybody got any good tips on killing that reflection? Is it the angle of the lights inside the tank? good to see you have water now mjf! jp

I can't imagine two of these in my tank. I feed one cube of mysis per day and the HD steals most of the food when I do. I could try increasing that but never had a problem before. I am sure somebody here would like to add this guy to their livestock.

well, back to the HD - I think this is going to turn bad for me. After eating all the eyelashes off my pallys, the monster has turned his attention to nipping at my frogspawn and hounding and herding my very peaceful copperband. this guy needs to go - any takers with any kind of trade? It will take me a day or two to get the 20L I have running, since I wouldn't put it in my frag tank and if my wife sees it peck at the copperband, our first fish, it will be flushed. let me know, jp

no, sorry for the confusion - I don't think anything negative about any LFS, I am just interested in how the club is doing with this fish, only because I know that we snatched them all up. There would be a return policy if the liability wasn't 100% on the fish purchaser, and that is clearly understood. The fish type and LFS are irrelevant to my interest, it's just an opportunity to see how 30 or 50 or whatever number of $35 fish survive in our various setups, and if we're already down 1/3 to 1/4 of them after a couple of weeks I really don't know what that says.

I think I've seen stories of at least 5-6 dead now, and it's only been a couple of weeks. Plus the one I saw at PetSmart.

'starting to kill some stuff' sounds bad. You could be in for a battle, try the usual things first - water changes, reduce lighting and feeding, test parameters, remove foam and sponges. What changed near the time you first noticed the stuff? Most of the time I see cyano it's from not using 0-1 TDS RODI - what are you using for water? HTH jp

I slit my yuma a couple of weeks ago and it healed back in place. I think that's because I couldn't pry it off the rock so I just kind of cut it in place. Should I try the ice cube trick to get it off the rock?
