TOTM is running again...
To me the amazing part is the super wow factor when you see it in person, then start really seeing the color, variety and clarity of the tank. I hope you put a chair in there, Marina, since there wasn't one before! But then no one would leave...
I have a single deep red tomato clownfish available for donation to a school. It was captive bred & born here by member and raised out in my tank. It is healthy, about 3.5." and about 3 years old. It is a very quiet, shy one. It Loves to hide in his caves and peer out. Marine spectrum pellets and frozen myisis shrimp are what he normally eats. It is free. I am going to need to consolidate down to 1 tank and would like a class to enjoy him.
Go slowly. Some like to use an ice cube to begin to detach the foot. Others just sell the rock with it. I have done ice to start then used an old credit card to gently pry the food off. Several members have used powerheads blowing towards the 'nem to loosen it and put a rubble rock next to it to hopefully reattach itself to.
Hth.
Congratulations, Troy! Hope your wife is doing well with recovery. Just a warning....you could be back as soon as he wins the goldfish as a prize bcs then you will want to show him something better like a clownfish! Lol. Have a great time enjoying parenting!
Well, to add to the discussion, I have the black ones pictured at the beginning. They ate the red slime/mat/film that had developed in my tank and brought it under control. I had tried other things like removing it or scrubbing but to no avail. Put 6 of these in and in a week it was gone. They bury themselves at night and come out when I turn the lights on fully. I have another tank with both tiny snails and these but haven't seen any predatory or overly reproductive issues. On the other hand my nassarius don't ever last more than a month while both of these types last and reproduce reasonably.
Do we have a pinned topic with photos.and descriptions for good vs. bad vs. caution with these parameters?
...so your not tempted to set up rockwork in the hallway.
Lol! I say go for it! Can't scratch up the tank with a rock slide if it is not in the tank! You could also start to make it live by seeding it & letting it sit in SW with a power head. It cuts down on wait time.
Tightline-You need one of those cold wraps that entertainers use. You wet it, freeze it, then wrap/put on your neck to keep chilled. It definately works. Meantime Enjoy the bass!
I know you want Rodi water, but I do use tap water treated with Prime successfully. It maybe an option for you to consider. You can also use fresh SW made with tap to help clean up if anything is still live and save your RODI for refilling. HTH.
Dont know much about Angels, Jan, but after what I have read I think I would at least QT and possibly even treat like the others after a few days of observation.
Piper, any chance you have a frag of blue star polyps that you would be willing to trade for something? Like bright green gsp? Any chance anyone knows what makes sinaria or pulsing denial die? I can't seem to grow it! I have nothing but gsp, a couple of mushrooms and rics.
I have a cpr backpack but the box piece that goes inside broke off in the corner. It could be glued or perhaps another piece could replace it. It's not being used as my tanks are skimmerless. You are welcome to it.
