So I test fitted the canopy and and all is well could use a little trimming at this point but its good enough for now. I ended up using Masonite and finished it with drywall compound on the out side.

This will be the home for the new tank ,replacing the 150 gallon . Along with the deal the carpet gets replaced per my wifes demand. The fish room that consists of a 65 gallon frag tank, 40 breeder refugium, and a 40 sump and all the equipment will be condensed to fit under the new stand . I haven't really used the frag tank, it just turned into another reef . I had all that plumbed together with the 150 through the wall.

So I used an epoxy paint and sealed all the seams in the sump area , I did this with my last stand and it would hold water with no issues for days. ( its unfortunate that I know that). Then the stand got multiple coats of oil based paint after the 3 coats of kilz oil based primer.a0e95c146d4c528f56451e23e0d89aed.jpg479c838e78aa58bac680f5f8c7f229db.jpgffe24d819d982d840a014f176c6b3d5e.jpg

Perhaps you should start over on the stand to make your wife happy.  If it helps you I will take that one off your hands for a nice price.  hahahaha

It looks superb, I am sure she will come around.  Maybe put up some family pictures on the shelves.  My wife loves family pics.

Beautiful stand and hood.  How do you access the top for feeding/cleaning, etc?  Will you have access from behind?

Don't sweat it . Wait until her Girlfriends come around and she takes all the credit. That is what mine does. In addition to buying Red bottoms   Hey I just noticed there are no ventilation ports or fans for the sump area. You may want to address that issue, and where do you plan to place all your controllers and power packs ?

Yeah I want to move mount and plumb, then cut holes last . I would hate to cut a fan hole then end up changing my mind on placement.

Went with a red bottom plasti dip style sump. I made my own sock holder and dividers with scrap acrylic. So my sump ended up cosing me less than $100 bucks. I have a 40 breeder and a 20 high for frags .faabf4e8ad30fe8aca2c50cf7f2f991c.jpgdc8c8170c70bd2426c2fda5b4f448e71.jpg52be527c22672ec1c8c12bda358bfec3.jpg
