countryboy May 20, 2013 May 20, 2013 Just wandering what type of veggie clip everyone uses. My plastic one is crap, my big ole unicorn tang pulls out the nori on the first bite!
Big Country May 20, 2013 May 20, 2013 I'm going to have to try the rubber band trick since my tang herd most of the time rips my nori out of the clip also
countryboy May 21, 2013 Author May 21, 2013 Rubberband sounds like a good idea except for having to retrieve the rock after each use.
sachabballi reef May 21, 2013 May 21, 2013 I also rubber band and rock it. courtesy of my sweet S4 +3 its a pita but works so much better than a Clip and seems more natural. All of my fish grab from it now whereas with clip just a couple did. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
mling May 21, 2013 May 21, 2013 (edited) I'm going to have to try the rubber band trick since my tang herd most of the time rips my nori out of the clip also I use a magnetic clip. Like it because it floats to the top and is easy to remove and attach. To stop my Tangs from ripping the nori from the clip, I fold it in many times before cliping it. So u end up with like a 1/2 inch wide nori. Edited May 21, 2013 by mling
08can-am May 21, 2013 May 21, 2013 I have about 3 rocks I use. 1 every other day. After the 3rd is cleaned off I use my grippers and fish them all out. Not really to much hassle courtesy of my sweet S4
trockafella May 21, 2013 May 21, 2013 (edited) Make sure to use good thick rubberbands, some fish will break the smaller ones, especially if they have some use on them.. I too use the rock, works way better, and as mentioned above, I feel like its more natural. Edited May 21, 2013 by trockafella
kjamaya May 21, 2013 May 21, 2013 (edited) I use a grid feeding clip. Works great and I don't have to go fishing for the rock. The only thing I do is super glue the clip to a magnet float (small nano one) it holds better and easy to retrieve. Edited May 21, 2013 by kjamaya
Coral Hind May 21, 2013 May 21, 2013 Rubberband sounds like a good idea except for having to retrieve the rock after each use. You can tie a fishing line on it and pull it out after an hour once it is cleaned off.
countryboy May 22, 2013 Author May 22, 2013 Thanks for the idea's folks, gonna give the rock a try. Mling I tried folding mine up also but I have a large unicorn tang that is a beast and it's no match for him!

Not really to much hassle courtesy of my sweet S4 Heh I just got a mental picture of my tank with a big rubble pile of rocks with rubber bands on them. I'm so lazy that I'd have like 15+ before I finally got in there and fished them all out.
sachabballi reef May 22, 2013 May 22, 2013 I cut mine into thick strips leaving the middle whole so just the edges are frayed...seems to limit the mess of the strong fish and looks very natural on the rock Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
davelin315 May 22, 2013 May 22, 2013 I fold the nori up and then cut it into strips. No matter what you use, a big fish will pull it out. I go cheap with my clips - I buy a couple of clothes hangers with clips and either zip tie them to rocks and use fishing line to retrieve them or superglue them to mag floats.
