YHSublime May 15, 2014 Author Share May 15, 2014 Great pictures man! Tank is amazing Thank you, sir. Funny, the pictures should be getting worse, I don't have my macro lenses anymore. I tried to show growth, and everything I bolded is from today if it pertains to a growth progression. There's too much to sort out, I hope it shows what I wanted it to, and not my laziness. YHSublime May 15, 2014 Author Share May 15, 2014 FANTASTIC! Thank you, sir! Sweet pics! You can really see the growth. You have wwwaaayyyyy toooo many corals in that tank! The good news is you will have to start fragging when I am ready to start adding! It's exploded over the past month, hope it keeps up at this rate! It was hard to document because I had to go through and search everything, but if you just look through my build, from about page 30, until now, you can see how everything has just boomed. Let me know when you're ready to start adding! WOW, great growth. Remind me again the % you are running your led at? How close is that red dragon to your lights? What SALT are you using? Thanks! The lighting is tricky, because I switched over from the Evergrows to the Radion G3 Pros at the very beginning of April. The Evergrows were both being run on 80% white, 60% blues, the lights came on at 8:00am-8:30am with just blues, and then full power until 6pm. Then I ran just blues for another 2 hours. The Evergrows come on at 8am, and run blues until 11am, then it progresses from a full color spectrum (I don't know what it is, it's a preset) until it peaks in the afternoon, and slowly comes down again until 9pm, and blues run for 2 more hours. It's still in acclimation mode, and at the height of day it is programmed to only hit 75% of the lights intensity. I think I'm going to try and work them up to 90% and crank them for 8 hours a day, with wind up and wind down of an hour with blues. I'd venture to say that the Red Dragon sits about 40" away from the lights. I started with it on my sand bed, and then way lower down on the rock, and it looked OK. It fell into the GSP underneath it, and was surprisingly hearty after sitting in it all day. I decided I could probably move it up a little bit further, and it has done extraordinarily well in it's current location. From my experience, I would say that Red Dragon does not prefer low light, but medium light instead, and high flow. I use Reef Crystals. I have thought about switching to Instant Ocean, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I don't mind the couple extra dollars for consistency. Sorry for the ramble. Rob A May 15, 2014 Share May 15, 2014 (edited) Beautiful! Now repost all those pics with the PAR values next to each coral Did that deep water Jackie encrust that plug just since April or was it already like that? I picked up a frag of that from Dave S at the last meeting...just want to compare growth-not sure if I've seen any in mine. I can't tell how many polyps were in the "before" pic. Has it grown more since then? Edited May 15, 2014 by Rob A
YHSublime May 15, 2014 Author Share May 15, 2014 I'm using IO and thinking of switching... It's supposedly higher in all element numbers. Since I started dosing I have also noticed another growth spurt. I also am religious with my water changes. I actually enjoy a good water change. Beautiful! I don't know how well the par meters read with LEDs, or at least how true they are. I have a thread from about a year ago when I used a par meter with my evergrows at 60/80, who knows how accurate they were. If you want to bring one over, I'd be willing to do it, otherwise I'm not terribly concerned with par levels, as long as things are growing! The Jackie is actually not encrusted, the epoxy I used is purple to look like coraline. It has gained a lot of color since I put it in after the meet, Dave did warn me that it was delicate before it was sold to me. I have been impressed with the slow branches that are growing out of it, I don't think it has gotten longer any, at least that I can tell. If I could do it all over again, I would start with mini colonies of everything. A lot of my stuff was grown from little frags (SPS) The bigger a piece is, the more exponential growth you should see. Although getting more/smaller frags has really allowed me to increase my variety, I think it speaks more to my lack of planning.

Or have I just been drinking too much? If so, what does that one look like since it was pretty white.
