jason the filter freak May 29, 2011 Author Share May 29, 2011 (edited) I'm in need of black 1 inch tubing, I've tried Home Depot and Lowes any one knows if Ace or somewhere else might carry it?I may just wrap clear in either electric tape or pipe insultation but I'd like the set up to look not ghetto fab. I was going to make it an cutting edge tank but now I just want it done. Edited May 29, 2011 by jason the filter freak

jason the filter freak June 10, 2011 Author Share June 10, 2011 A new door was built and was painted last night, plumbing has started. Its pretty much all going to be avast powered. At least skimmer, ato, and reactor. It will have a reef angel contoller, and custom LEDS, waiting on the group buy to roll in.

jason the filter freak June 21, 2011 Author Share June 21, 2011 No pics at this time, on the way back from picking up $30 worth of Sched 80 Grey PVC, Deer under the car, took out the cooling/colant system. Minimal body damage but when you drive a low slung sports car, I'm not even sure what kind of under carriage damage there is.
Der ABT June 21, 2011 Share June 21, 2011 (edited) ohhh noooo...i freaking hate deer....all they are is car damage. Sorry to hear about the deer, if its under there and dead your deductible will be alot less (i was quoted at 150 if hit and proof, 75 if killed it)i had no proof besides the mirror damage and ended up eating a side impact after swerving to miss the stupid thing luckily only cosmetic Hopefully its just the radiator and rad support, fix shouldnt be too hard... Not too much to mess up on the undercarriage, probalby some plastic covers but most lines and really important things get tucked up (besides the oil pan etc) Good luck on the fix and sorry to hear about the luck....ive seen alot more deer lately too..i wish they would put landmines near the roads for them. jason the filter freak June 21, 2011 Author Share June 21, 2011 I have a police report for the deer, basically the truck (semi, dumpster truck, something) likely took down the deer (I'm basing this on the brake lights and the fact that it breifly looked like the deer was still twitching) something broke off the truck too and went up under the car :(. I'm almost off work and I'm going to call my Mechanic and see what he thinks, might be a good time for a radiator upgrade.

jason the filter freak June 22, 2011 Author Share June 22, 2011 I jumped the shark and finally drilled my sump for external effluent It half drilled half melted a hole in the sump, but the job was done It was definately a super tight fit but a little bit of plumbers silicone did the trick, still very tight, but I assume that means water tight seal. jason the filter freak June 22, 2011 Author Share June 22, 2011 the grey 1" going into the sump will be chopped down, very chopped down. Due to the lack of variety of parts in sched 80 pvc, a lot of custom plumbing had to be done, such as fitting this adapter into this connector. jason the filter freak June 22, 2011 Author Share June 22, 2011 This would be my ideal set up, but unfortunately the peg leg is not yet ready to be an external skimmer :(, so it will be going in the sump to the right
jason the filter freak June 23, 2011 Author Share June 23, 2011 I decided to ditch the hinge idea for the door in favor of magnets now I just have to hope they're strong enough I'm going to use epoxy to keep them inplace, I think with no weight on the door they'll hold, but I was going to attach my meanwells to the door. jason the filter freak June 23, 2011 Author Share June 23, 2011 (edited) So my wonderful MR5 only had 1/2" barbs on them and I'm running 3/4" Id hose, I couldn't find parts in schedual 80 that fit where I wanted them to, so again... improvise, everything thats been modded so far looks very nice and clean. Basically I just took the 90 (barb x barb) and cut it right where it bends, it friction fits into the 90 on the reactor and I'll glue it in place of course, but it still leaves plenty of room to get a hose on there and secured with a standard hose clamp. jason the filter freak July 2, 2011 Author Share July 2, 2011 All the sump plumbing is now glued and or teflon taped in its final place, next on to the hose works project. I think the baffle placement is/will be my final baffle placement, I'm going to use silicone and not weldon to hold them in place, that way I can re-arrange them down the road if I want. The fuge and skimmer will be all one chamber at the moment until some point down the road when I get an external skimmer.

jason the filter freak July 4, 2011 Author Share July 4, 2011 Also started epoxying in the magnets but I must have screwed up the ratio, 12 hours later it was still tacky :( Oh well I'm not in any super rush.
zygote2k July 4, 2011 Share July 4, 2011 why did you use a uniseal instead of a bulkhead? The uniseal will leak- the bulkhead will not.
jason the filter freak July 4, 2011 Author Share July 4, 2011 I'm 105% the uniseal won't leak, at least not in this application, its a low pressure system, the pipe is insanely snug, less prone to cracking the acrylic, and has a lower profile than a bulk head... also because I had it on hand I probably would have used a ridig if I had one kicking around. After seeing all the applications on justins massive system with out leaks with his uniseal, I trust them just as much as ridgids for most applications.
