  1. Thanks Tom, im going to go this route based on what you say and my preliminary thoughts of trying just that. The system is 1500 gallons (reef) so there is a lot to lose if a mistake is made. Appreciate it Tom! btw: thank you everyone who replied with their experiences and suggestions on a method of getting this done. Very much appreciated.
  2. Your experience is what I had but lost more fish and rose anenomes. I’m thinking of doing a lower dose and leaving skimmer on but very low.
  3. I’ve had bad luck using red slime removers in reef tanks where I have killed anenomes and some fish despite using the product as directed. I’ve heard Anti-red is better to use and apparently there is one made by Sera and one made by Aqua Medic. It was also told to me that these products claim to leave skimmer on while in use. Anybody with any experience with these products on a heavily stocked reef tsnk?
  4. Take a look at our website

  13. Just as there are specialty movers for pianos there are movers who just move aquariums. One just has to do a little extra search. The little bits of knowledge ( like stand the tank up on end with a moving blanket) help keep a nightmare from happening. BTW I am a USAA member also and that has its big perks as you've probably known. If you would like me to take a look at the damage I may be able to help you out getting it fixed. Give me a call.
  14. Yes, these guys are very helpful. Will be a big help/asset to the club
  15. Given that the bottom has cracked before, you may want to consider a 1" bottom. A tank with those dimensions I would not use a 3/4" piece. It's going to be expensive but you'll not have the same problem again.
  16. New things added to website. These pics will be added to page tomorrow. They are some new sumps we have been working on. LED lights inside sump. Blue PVC pipe (which we will be selling). Along with the LED lights these sumps will feature polycarbonate lids. The sump features a plate that slides to allow to adjust for water levelsThere will be a 2ft, 3ft.,and 4ft, size.

  18. Yes, but its very expensive and time consuming. If scratches can catch a fingernail it's likely not going to happen. If also the quantity of scratches is high you also will find its not practical to do it.
  19. Check out this video. Would love to hear your thoughts. Pm me for any comments <a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v202/falls1723/?action=view&current=B48C3913-A4AC-460E-81A5-9D0ABBFCF72E-13439-000008D5B0C2D022.mp4" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/falls1723/B48C3913-A4AC-460E-81A5-9D0ABBFCF72E-13439-000008D5B0C2D022.mp4" border="0" alt="Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos" /></a> http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v202/falls1723/?action=view&current=B48C3913-A4AC-460E-81A5-9D0ABBFCF72E-13439-000008D5B0C2D022.mp4
  20. I have 3 72" inch metal halide Giesmann fixtures. Both are in excellent condition both are silver in color. One is three 250 W halides using double ended bulbs. The other uses mogul base bulbs. The Spectra fixture has brand-new bulbs in it. Spectra $1000 Infinity $800
  21. I've done it many times for clients. Even with the right equipment a three inch scratch can take 2 hrs. If you can get a finger nail in the scratch, triple that. Then there is the distortion factor. Not worth doing I. Most cases.
