  1. Concur with Mr. Lazar below! -A-a-ron
  2. I'd also cover to ensure nothing is entering the brute. You may have addressed this but is there anything else in the brute? Pumps, PVC, Etc?... -A-a-ron
  3. Well, that is certainly one informative post. Don't know if I'll ever need it but this is definitely sticky material. -A-a-ron
  4. Where do you keep the tub and is it covered? I have mine next to my furnace and there was a yellow film on everything. My tests were all over the place until I figured that out and wiped my bins and buckets out. Now I keep everything covered. Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk
  5. Take some of the RODI to a LFS and have them confirm your findings? Maybe a member here that uses something other than API will test for you. I'd test but I use API myself. Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk
  6. They're cheap and easy to install! I highly recommend you make the 10 minute commitment. Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk
  7. I still find it funny that nearly everyone universally uses "making water".... Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk
  8. I stashed my tank in storage while overseas (Guam then Hawaii) and to be honest. I missed it way less than I thought I would. Another factor you may want to consider is the cost of electricity out there. Not sure about leases allowing an 80 gallon tank either. Just things to think about. I lived in Waikiki and constantly found myself wandering around the city. I miss it for sure. I may have already said this but definitely hike kokohead and visit Kona brewing after. 9. Yeah, flooded it the first time I filled it. Bought a float switch the next day. Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk
  10. Thank you. Just when I noticed the smaller one missing a chunk of it's tail fin I somewhat panicked. Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk
  11. Thanks Jon! I guess I'll just keep an eye out. Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk
  12. Thanks. I've read a few things. It just odds me out that the fish is happy swimming by "her" side when "she" isn't attacking him. Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk
  13. Yeah, I understand that they get aggressive but I know that sometimes it's just pairing and sometimes you'll be left with only one clown. So I'm just trying to figure out what is considered it of the norm. The little guy has a nice little chunk missing from his tail. He's acting okay, but the fact that they spend a lot of time in the opposite sides of the tank has me concerned. Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk
  14. Your tank looks awesome! I didn't read through the thread but was curious, what do you do for maintenance/supplementation on it? Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk
  15. Holy crap that's a forest of chaeto! Sorry for your losses! Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk
  16. A somewhat humorous example of the bullying. It seems like it's gotten worse lately though.http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/5c8334a4312d7/VID-20190307-WA0009.mp4 Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk
  17. I have two juvenile clowns, close in size (1.5") added to the tank a few weeks apart. The newer one (a misbar black Occ) is doing what clowns do and picking on the smaller one (a frostbite Occ). My question is, how do I know if it's too much? The little one has tattered fins and is constantly being harassed. That said, when he's not being chased, the dumb little guy is right next to his big bully and is acting fine. They sleep on opposite sides of the tank with the little one in hiding. This has gone on now for about two to three weeks. At times it seems like it's getting better, at others it seems worse. Thoughts on whether I should keep trying to pair them or move on from trying to have 2? Thanks! Aaron Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk
  18. I've read good things about these too on nano-reef (they're also known as aquaknight fixtures if you care to look). 19. Cleaned up the stand today too. -A-a-ron
  20. Thanks for the kind words Tommy! I still have some algae, but it's steadily been on a decline. I did have some bryopsis, may still have more. I'm hoping my bad algae days are behind me. -A-a-ron
  21. Thank you all a ton by the way. -A-a-ron
  22. Well I actually have mag left over from my old tank (minerals don't expire right?! Haha) But I'll definitely check out the links. I was actually reading them before. I'm wondering if (since my pH is low) if kalk is a good option for me? -A-a-ron
  23. Anyone have a specific 2 part they recommend? -A-a-ron
  24. Thanks! I'll look for 2 part and kalk tomorrow. Mass water changes on a Nuvo 20 are pretty simple though. I just didn't realize I had enough SPS in the tank to deplete the levels that quick. -A-a-ron
  25. Figured its about time for me to post a tank thread.... Now that I got the algae under control! Haha Bought a Nuvo 20 off a member off here since I couldn't set up my 40 due to the landlord. Hopefully that changes when we move this summer (though an upcoming bundle o joy may change my perceptions!).
