  1. It sounds like you are unable to move anything? If you are you could use 5-gallon buckets and take to a LFS. From there they would acclimate. I’ve worked with aquarium shops and that’s how we would do it. What exactly do you have? I have an established setup, with a 40 frag and 100 sump. If you need somewhere to store livestock for giveaway to members. Already babysitting some corals/fish though. Are you moving or just struggling with reef keeping? If you need any assistance feel free to reach out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Great use of fish size and gargonias. Big fan of not cramming large fish into a system and allowing corals/gargonias to grow without overwhelming the tank. Very natural looking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I think you can get just about any clown to host a bubble tip. Unless they prefer something else. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I put four peppermint shrimp in my 150 just to see what they would do. Thought they all had died, couple moths later I have at least two barely visible in a couple rock openings. They are good at hiding and really come out. Don’t venture far or move around much. Maybe success is in a small tank? Or having a ton of them? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. My guess is you’d likely need a ton to make a difference and then should wear gloves cause you’ll keep getting bristles in your fingers. You’ll end up with them anyways. Probably not a big difference in the substrate. Outside the sandbed blue leg hermits do a good job and maybe brittle stars plus astrea/turbo if you have algae. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. If you have some patience the following is interesting. Not so hard to breed Berghia, but would take some time. https://www.advancedaquarist.com/2008/11/breeder Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Beautiful powder brown! Definitely donate somewhere special. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I’m a fan of large water volumes and smaller bio loads. A lot of the better reef tanks you see have a small fish count or large ratio of water/fish for a reason. This is especially true for SPS and mixed reef. Also, when thinking of fish count think about the adult size. As you mentioned you had a problem in the past. Large amounts of waste means disease can spread easily. I dumped a powder blue covered in ich into a 150 was healed with no spots with a few weeks. Also, he fights with a yellow tang and each one gets gashed tiny infection and heals within a week. They’ve both been thriving together for over a year. Other people love the large fish loads. If you do, I’d recommend a larger volume. I have two sumps. Drain through the wall into 100 gallon Rubbermaid, back into the under tank sump and return. Bottom line - less fish, cleaner water, less algae problems, less fish disease problems. If you do keep a high volume it will be imperative to do your water changes on time changing out filter socks, etc.
  9. Glad you guys are coming out!! You'll be my first stop. Always large frags and great deals.
  10. If the system gets healthy yes the color will come back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Well my mixing station consists of 4x 50 gallon barrels (two fresh, two salt) only two open at any given time. 100 gallons of water pushing down from about three feet off the floor to the pump on the floor and pumping up about seven feet or so. Mixing when fresh closed valves and two salt barrels continuously pumped. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Yup cost of living = high cost commercial space, high cost employees, higher profit margin. Some of us sell stuff at reasonable prices. Should get a lot of free corals at the frag fest. If you can make it to Manassas I have some stuff in a frag tank could hook you up with for free. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Anyone have a recommendation for a quality external pump which can handle the weight from a 200 gallon mixing station? Current pump is leaking from the water pressure. When barrels are open 200 gallons gravity fed to the pump which then pushes up over the connected barrels. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Check para. Lack of ca or alk could be off plus mg. As you move past birdsnest and trumpets probably need to watch them more carefully. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. When you say T5 keep in mind bulb color combinations. Running ATI blue+/actinic with halides. Also Ben with Supreme Reefs running the same. If you want to see a variety of corals under T5. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Ha! My salinity probe has been way off. Tried calibrating several times and pretty sure no stray current in the tank or around the probe cable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. When you say equally... Test Test Test. Alk Ca would not be of equals and tons of variables to consider. Also, consider dosing Mg. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Hmm maybe I need to change my name. Probably someone else online. Randomly picked a name.
  19. I'm new to the group, been in the hobby for a very long time and now have my basement devoted as my fish room. Hope to meet some people on here, trade some frags at some point. I'm running a 150 display, dual 100 and 40 sumps, 40 frag system, 200 gallon mixing station.
