  1. Tahitian moon sand... you can ask me anything about it lol, you can take a look at my post: Simply put, take the sand out of your tank and do a 100% water change (please read my post above). The corals that survived didn't have any growth in 10 months... after removing it everything is growing fast!
  2. I would use the the shotglass idea.. but it will take time!
  3. Wow, long time I do not post new pictures! Here are some that I took today ?. enjoy
  4. Dont go for zero phosphate or zero nitrates... it's even worse.
  5. Awesome!!! Here are some pics. Do you think the UV can be used in an IM fusion 40?
  6. Yes. My tank is low in nutrients and Ive been using carbon dosing too. Ive been dosing nitrates as well, but looks like I need to do some adjustments. Great! There are some articles in the Reef2Reef forum that may help identify them if you can take some pics. Where are you located?
  7. Hey guys, looks like I will never enjoy my little reef ?. Apparently I have dinos and they are now getting over my birdnest. Anyone with a microscope that can help me identify the type of dinos? Alexandria VA.
  8. Tiger pods are not the best. They do not reproduce when they reach certain population number and the form they swim, they will be gone in seconds in a DT.
  9. Got another pics today and I think it is covering the lower edge now. Looks different since somehow I changed my old white balance settings.
  10. Hi, I got this nice frag from the last meeting and I am not sure if I am going crazy, but I took this photo 2 days apart and see some growth!
  11. I was the Avast gift certificate winner at the latest WAMAS meeting. I just placed my order! Thanks for being a WAMAS sponsor.
  12. Following... Same question here... and it is even more confusing when selecting the dots, you have another intensity option...
  13. I knew it!!! I had this feeling that the sand was causing me all the trouble. Thank you and your friend for taking time to analyze the sand and I hope this helps other members to stay away from this sand (Tahitian Moon). I sent another ICP test and Vanadium and Nickel went down drastically. Thank you!
  14. I only cultured pods and used phytofeast and other phyto available on the market (I don't have room in my place to do it myself). For the pods, I went to Walmart and bought 2 jars (probably 1 gallon each, you can go bigger is you want to increase production, but this just worked for me), an air stone with 2 outputs and small heaters (since my apt is always too cold),. You will need to use a sieve (53 microns) to harvest them ( I bought my sieve from: http://www.aquaculturenurseryfarms.com/categories/sieves-plankton-collectors/sieve-sets.html Video of harvested pods.
  15. I've been culturing pods for the past 3-4 months and I suggest you get come Tisbe pods since their life/reproduction cycle is very short (7-11 days), and you can keep adding to your tank on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. I've tried Tiger pods and they are not worth it... I get my pods from Podyourreef.com
  16. Hey Guys and Happy Holidays I recently made a light upgrade from alPrime HD to Radion G4Pro. I am now using the Coral Growth (AB+) settings, but with less white. However, I am not sure if I am running it too long or not (I dont want to fry my corals either. I also tried to add "moon light until midnight, and re-start at 6am). please let me know what you have.
  17. Yes. The thing is Ive read in many sites that it must be 99% pharmaceutical grade and the ones on ebay are not. So not sure.
  18. Does anyone know a vet who can give me this with a prescription? Ive never visited one and I feel they will think I am crazy..
  19. Looks like marine velvet since the body is all covered in small dots. Made a fresh water dip for 5 mins to help while I figure out what to do ?.
  20. Ugh. I have copper with me, but not sure how the mandarin will react.
