Doesn't look bad to me in that pic. It's just not fully extended.

Fusion hasn't been released yet, AFAIK. -- Warren

The Neptune forums are quite good. Happy to help get you started if you're having problems though. Regarding viewing on the computer, I take it you have not hooked it up to a network? I accomplished this by using a wifi game adapter. I picked up one of these used on ebay: http://www.amazon.com/TRENDnet-Wireless-Gaming-Adapter-TEW-647GA/dp/B0024G48VA If you are lucky enough to be within cabling distance, just run a cable and be done with it. Once you configure it to be on the network, and view the IP address on the display, you can login to the Apex via web browser. The skimmer ought to be quite simple. Something like this: Fallback ON Set ON If Outlet Return_Pump = OFF Then OFF Defer 002:00 Then ON I have it wait 2 minutes so that if the return is off, and it goes back on, the skimmer doesn't kick on immediately. 2 minutes should be enough time for my return to clear out the sump, and the siphon overflow to restart. Note that I don't turn the skimmer off when I feed. You can, but I don't really care to do that, nor do I turn off the return. Eat fast fishies and coral, or don't eat at all

I don't actually measure what's coming out. Just the effect it has and then change the amount of time on my Apex. -- Warren

I took the PVC home out. He's content where he is. Super easy to photograph. These were too funny to resist. Will be my new surprise pics.

Warren's 90 gallon Zeovit tank
wangspeed replied to wangspeed's topic in Dedicated Tank (Build) Forum
I've got a place in mind already. Just waiting for the right one to come along. I'm being picky about it. Good chance the clam will push me to move from kalk to 2 part. Originally I started with 2 part, but switched to kalk to help boost PH. With my expensive juice bottle CO2 scrubber in place, I should be able to go back to 2 part. -

My automatic temp correcting refractometer doesn't actually correct worth a darn. Lost a few due to dropping SG, and Alk. So long ORA Green birdsnest and hot pink stylo. I may have been nuking them with too much light too. The stylo did start off purple... Plus I had one cool rainbow zoa from bn251 decide it hated life after I mounted it to a dome. Never opened back up :( My jack o lantern lepto isn't looking hot either. It's definitely not growing. I guess some things don't love being in a low nutrient environment. I feed pretty heavily though. The rest of my corals are really taking off. Especially montis and acros. I mean, my mystic sunset is plating out like crazy. Otherwise I've probably overcrowded the tank with frags by now, but partly just to see what I like, and what does well. I need to get rid of some though. Maybe at the meeting, which is probably a good idea, since I intend to pick up more frags there. Maybe a maxima... -
Ugh. I'd blast it with fiery hot RODI water. All pumps off. Wear gloves...

My iPhone 5. We have a Nikon D80 that I am usually too lazy to break out. I have a photo mode set on my Reef Breeders photon 48. Blue channel off, and the rest not too bright 50% (maybe?) to reduce contrast. Keeping the phone still helps a lot too. I just placed it against the glass for these two. -- Warren

I would not advise vodka and kalk together, but vinegar and kalk is a match made in heaven. Vodka dosing in an ATO is probably hard to get accurate since it is so potent compared to vinegar for C. Also keep in mind that it will likely wreck havoc on the pump unless it is a peristaltic. -- Warren

I'm only 4 months in on my trio. So far so good in my 90. Pretty strong current from a wp40 and wp25, which I have read might make a difference. Marine scene's main display tank has multiple male bartletts IIRC and they have not killed each other. That display is a wonder of broken "rules" though, and I am jealous every time I see it. -- Warren

Today's home, pretty much up against the one I built. Here he is scoping me out.

Eheim jager heater wants to cook my tank

I wouldn't necessarily call a 1 degree swing defective. Do you have this plotted out, like with a controller? -
So the little son of a gun has moved right up against it, as if to laugh at me. At least he's in the front now.
-
The easiest way is to get an adjustable power supply. If you have the newest Jebao controller from Fish Street, it has this somewhat built in. Otherwise, you'll need something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Adapter-15V-18-5V-19-5V/dp/B004I5ERUW/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1388775434&sr=8-15&keywords=12v+24v+power+supply+adjustable Note, like it's been mentioned above, do not run it under 12V.

I'm a fan of keeping it in my overflow. With a larger tank, it really shouldn't matter that it is draining to the sump, unless your sump is in the basement, or somewhere really far. In fact, you could argue that this results in a nice gradual change of temp in the DT, which is a good thing, IMO. I also like that I can keep it minimally submerged. It is quite easy to see what the minimum water level is going to be. This should be less stressful on the seals of the heater, which are miserably prone to failure over time.

That is correct. The clear liquid should be saturated. You don't want to dose the cloudy stuff, for many reasons. -- Warren

Best laid plans... I wasn't careful when I was placing him in, and he escaped before I could introduce him to the housing. This of course, meant that he had to flee to the opposite side of the aquarium, in what is probably the worst viewing spot. Hopefully he'll move soon to a better viewing spot, even if it isn't the PVC housing. I'll probably leave it in there a few weeks before I pull it, if he doesn't take. Thanks to Steve @ QR for the jawfish I'd take a pic, but...

Oh, btw, the flame can be a grade a jerk too, so pick your fish wisely. Dunno how big your tank is, YHSublime, but if it's not huge, you may want to rethink your combo. Just do some searches on some of these + the word aggressive on big forums. Dave, 300 sounds like plenty of space for 3-4, even if it's aggressive, for a fairy wrasse.
-
I don't think you're going to get away with a Scott's in the mix. Very aggressive towards other fairy wrasses. My supermale red velvet is extremely dominant and aggressive towards other fairy wrasses, and they are not even considered aggressive fairy wrasses. I'd hate to see what a Scott's supermale would do. This is working for me so far: Red velvet, Laboutei, red headed fairy wrasses (solerensis), and a Melanarus. The Melanarus is the only one that sleeps in sand. The rest find nooks in the rocks and blow mucous bubbles around themselves.

They are pretty easy to set, and mine have been reliable. Check out videos on youtube about setting Jagers. -

Wowsers. They are gorgeous. Wish I could get them, but my 4 wrasses clear my DT of any pods foolish enough to venture from rock work :( -- Warren -
That area of my tank had most of the sand blown away by the WP40 over time. It's more like 2" elsewhere. Enough that my Melanarus buries himself without a problem. I do agree i don't have quite enough for an optimal jawfish setup, which is why I built the home. If he likes other places he can go. I was just hoping he would occupy this area. The barnacle idea is a good one. My tank is already covered with clear mesh since I have 4 wrasses, so I'm all good there. -- Warren
