  1. I still use it. I get some brown in my mixing tank, but I stopped even caring. From what I read, it sounds more like a bacterial issue. I've seen brown in my mixing tank from other salts too, like Brightwell Neomarine and LiveAquaria (Fritz), who told me it was likely magnesium related. I'm pretty sure the current Tropic Marin Pro that I'm using is from Turkey, because it was the boxed version. It's possible that if there is an issue, I'm not as exposed to it because I don't change water very often, and I send in for ICP tests fairly regularly (every 3 months or so). Warren
  2. Yeah. I picked up 5 at a MACNA and another 2 off someone on R2R. The Mitras and Kessils run about 45% for 8 hours. Warren
  3. LED lighting without dead spots. 7 Mithras and 6 360x
  4. Coral growth has accelerated dramatically in the last 3 months. I ditched TLF Reborn for CaRx media and switched to KZ. It's far cleaner, and my phosphates are .06 or lower now, and stable. It used to swing very high and then drop when I got around to using lanthanum chloride. I'm running into some acro warfare. A nice problem to have, but frustrating for sure.
  5. Checking in! The tank is better than ever coral wise. I've had some fish losses over the past year. My anthias and fairy wrasses slowly started coming out less and less. A few of the wrasses look like they hit the lid/eurobrace :( My favorite fish are still with me, a copperband and a regal angelfish. Here are a few pics!
  6. Great photos! I agree that 85B is the best filter. I've tried a bunch. Not all orange filters are created equally! Yes, I agree about fish as photo subjects. They're rudely uncooperative.
  7. I haven't heard this before! Yet another example of young tank stability issues. I chased my tail for a while on nitrates and alk until things finally stabilized, mostly on their own.
  8. Flaring Potter's wrasse. This guy might be the most valuable fish in my collection, now that Hawaii is closed. I don't think they're collected anywhere else.
  9. Are you running the CO2 solenoid off a controller with a log? Like an Apex? One thing that helped me determine whether or not things were working well is turning on logging for the solenoid on/off times, and looking for trends, like if the times get longer or shorter (indicating a problem). Maybe I missed it, but have you also tried checking your ph probe calibration? Just drop it in your tank and see what it reads. Which Geo reactor do you have? Is there a bubble near the top? The older style ones with the pipe out the top need an additional port drilled to pull from that, which prevents a bubble from forming, which could also throw off your ph readings. Actually, dumb question, do you have the ph probe inserted deep enough into the chamber? Don't keep it too close to the top. Other things I can think of. Do you hear the recirculation pump chopping up C02? That should only happen with new media, otherwise it's an indicator of a problem. Give the reactor a shake and make sure you hear the pump pull and chop up the bubbles. When I first setup my reactor, I ran my DC recirc pump a little too low, and it wasn't as consistent. Despite your current troubles, a CaRx is a relatively simple device. With enough data points, we should be able to figure out what's going on with yours. If you have an Apex, a few extra logging options could help tremendously.
  10. I don't really do much post processing now that I have my settings on camera and LEDs all setup right. The main knobs I'll tweak now are crop, color temperature, and exposure level (I shoot in raw). Warren
  11. Thank you! It took me a few months to figure out the right combination of LED lighting, and camera settings to get the right pictures. I was honestly kind of disappointed when I first started taking pictures with my Fuji XT4, but I kept experimenting, and I'm finally at a point where I feel pretty comfortable.
  12. POTO Flamethrower in daylight from @gws3 BC Rainbows in Spain (Spainbow) Paletta pink tip. It's kind of all pink at this size The strangest RMF Candyland, also from @gws3. A few of my frags do this where the corallites are super dense, and it doesn't really branch out. LRO Candy apple goniopora RR Red Bull BC Backdraft. I was worried it would be too close to PC Superman. Even though they both table and are pink with blue tips, they're reasonably different
  13. BC Bubblebath Unicorn in 2 locations MattV Hott Mess. It's much more yellow than when I first got it from LRO WWC Blueberry Fields TSA Billy Murray. I just moved it after it sat for a year with very little growth. MattV Ultimate Tricolor (center). Classic Pink Lemonade above Palmer's Blue Mille But the real blue champ is Oregon Tort RR Event Horizon Mille, which has a different pink than ASD Rainbow RR Vihn. I really love this one, but it's growing in a way where I can't really enjoy the colors, except from above :(
  14. It's underwater picture time! ASD Rainbow Mille PC Superman table. Loving how this is tabling out! Not sure what this was. Pretty sure it was a named piece. I call it Lavender Uprights I got this one from @GraffitiSpotCorals This one is fun because you can see CB Maleficent (bottom) battling against another pink coral, Vivid Confetti F2M Chrome Illusion \ Another from @GraffitiSpotCorals ARC Fireworks
  15. I'm not very good about updating regularly, but I'm trying more lately.
  16. No, I think I'm pretty much maxed out on fish load. The last few fish I added, I had some seriously bizarre interactions. Not even within the same species. I guess they're running low on places to hide until the corals grow out more. One of the last fish I added caused my Potters wrasse to go berserk and attack my meleagris leopard wrasse to the point where I had to rescue it, but it was too late :( Honestly though, I pretty much have all the fish species that I really want. Maybe a femininus wrasse someday, but I actually don't really like how they look when they're males, other than the rare flashing. Tastes change too. If I could repick the angelfish, I'd go w/ an emperor over the majestic that I have. Nothing wrong with mine. He's great, and doesn't pick at coral. I just like the way emperors look now, but I didn't in the past. What I need is a fish to eat all my zoas. I'm done with them. The snitches are spreading like a pandemic (too soon?).
  17. Out with the old fuge light, and in with the new! Now I don't get the annoying pink at night, and my rate of chaeto growth has exploded. It's waterproof, and has no moving parts, like the old CF Grow that it replaces. The only mod I did was drill it for side blinders. Viparspectra XS1500
  18. They went through copper in a QT tank. 6/7 made it through copper just fine. As I was lowering the water level to catch them, one went carpet surfing, and I didn't notice til it was too late 5 went into the display, and they slowly started disappearing over time. A few of them I caught in the overflow or in the sump. In retrospect, I should have put them into a second QT tank that I have available for observation, and fattened them up there before putting them into the display. They were still very small when they went into the display. The remaining ventralis is getting quite large. I've had her for over a year and a half now, so no doubt about her ability to survive.
  19. Whoops. Here's the right MattV Hot Mess picture
  20. POTO Flamethrower Hard to capture all the different colors on this one. It's gonna be a looker! My Oregon Tort is starting to get pretty large Ventralis anthias. 1 made it out of 7 These little girls kept getting sucked into the overflow when they were small. This little girl made it. She's a nice healthy size, and eats well. Left(ish) side of the tank Center of the tank Right(ish) side of the tank
  21. MattV Hot Mess Unknown, starting to pick up some interesting colors I rarely see this flagtail goby, and his tiger pistol shrimp. It took them almost a year to find each other in my tank! My melanarus that is super hard to photograph. Always on the move Lineatus and pink margin. I think they're a little over rated on price. Pink margin wrasses are really nice too A must have fairy wrasse for me Morning yawn Yellow belly regal ready to nip at some algae Cleaner wrasse Got this center acro from @GraffitiSpotCorals. Confetti to the right. Unknown to the left (grows like a weed!) ARC Fireworks RMF Superman Stag to the left, mariculture to the right
