  2. Also, what T5 Bulb combo are you using, and photoperiod?
  3. Gorgeous... How many fish are in there currently?
  4. Hot water with a bit of vinegar every 4-6 months does the trick on both my MP40 wet side and Jebao WP25
  5. Okay I got 2 from John at reefcleaners that only eat hair algae and LRS food. I'll trade you!
  6. I started this tank with dry rock so I wouldn't get BA. The only thing I can think of is that it hitchhiked on some acan frags from my old system. I should have probably sold or tossed the frags to avoid this issue completely.
  7. Bubble algae down the drain. Orion 1 BA 0
  8. I have declared war on bubble algae. Took two large rocks out. Used needle nose pliers, and a flat head screwdriver. Both rocks are clean, but a couple corals were damaged slightly. Nothing major that a couple months of new growth won't fix. I can't take the other rocks out the way the aquascape is set up so the next step is to buy a small foxface and let him get the rest for a few months (hopefully). If that doesn't work then it's off to get 10 emerald crabs. Yes, I said 10! I want this crap gone!
  9. Interesting point you make there with regards to nutrients and light duration/intensity, Graham.
  10. Just found this thread. You are not too far from me either. Great work so far, and I can't wait to see pictures when its all done.
  11. If you want a very simple, and easy camera to setup get a Dropcam. www.dropcam.com It won't work through your apex, but works through its own app on your phone or tablet. The video quality beats any of those IP cameras.
  12. pH Probe Maintenance, from the Apex PM1 Manual
  13. From Apex PM1 Manual -
  14. A couple of other suggestions - Was the probe used or brand new? If it was used, was a cap on the end of it when you received it? If not, the probe bulb has probably dried out and is giving you false readings. Make sure the probe is not fully submerged. Unlike the temperature probe, the pH probe cannot be fully submerged. Lastly, these probes are sensitive to EMI (electromagnetic interference) from other equipment around your tank. The wiring is not shielded well, and other equipment when turned on can give you a false reading. Try turning off various pieces of equipment around your tank and see if the pH changes on the apex. If it does, then you are getting some interference, and you'll have to move the probe somewhere else.
  15. Do not change a thing. These controllers are nice, but don't start chasing numbers if everything is working fine now. It'll drive you nuts
  16. Saw this last night. Very cool video as I had no idea how an anemone's, or jellyfishes sting worked!
  17. Virtual Outlets! A little advanced Apex programming... While having Fusion enabled is a real easy way to set up text and email alerts, and not to mention having to keep remembering your home IP Address is a pain, Fusion is still limited as to what you can do with the Apex. One example is that you cannot create a virtual outlet via Fusion. Ouch! What is a Virtual Outlet? From the Apex Comprehensive Manual - Want to know how to set one up? Go to page 87 of the Comprehensive Manual. What do I use a virtual outlet for? Have you ever done maintenance on a reactor, return pump, or skimmer, get distracted, and forget to turn the outlet back to AUTO or ON? I have! So I created a virtual outlet called 'Check_Me_Out' to send me an email/text alert that tells me one of those items has been off for more than 30minutes. Virtual Outlet - Check_Me_Out Set OFF If Outlet Pump_3_3 = OFF Then ON If Outlet Skimmer_3_1 = OFF Then ON If Outlet Reactor_3_5 = OFF Then ON Defer 030:00 Then ON The code is very simple. Set OFF means the outlet is OFF until the following conditions trigger it to ON - If Outlet Pump_3_3 (That's the name of my return pump outlet 'Pump_3_3') = OFF Then ON If Outlet Skimmer_3_1 (That's the name of my skimmer outlet 'Skimmer_3_1') = OFF Then ON If Outlet Reactor_3_5 (That's the name of my reactor outlet 'Reactor_3_5') = OFF Then ON Defer 030:00 Then ON. Why is this here? Without this Defer Statement the virtual outlet would be turned ON instantly every time one of the three outlets named above were turned OFF. That would get annoying. This Defer Statement says that if one of those outlets are turned OFF for more than 30 minutes, the virtual outlet will be turned ON. Now, in your Email Alarm outlet add this code - If Outlet Check_me_out = ON Then ON Without this code in your email alarm outlet the alert won't be triggered. Done! Now you won't forget to turn your equipment back on!
  18. You are always welcome to take a frag of anything you want out of the tank. Thanks! Here is a video I took of the tank yesterday running day time bulbs so you can see the colors of the fish better. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJNB7-ahTn8&list=UU0Y8sgQgDnD0VifSrWSEeVg&index=1
  19. PM me if you need help with codes
  20. I am recruiting you to help!
  21. You also have a much bigger tank than I do. It won't take much time for me to remove some rock and work on it. The tricky part will be not to knock off or break any corals in the process!
  22. This morning I was doing a little maintenance, along with a water change. I noticed in the tiny fuge section of the sump that the chaeto I had was being overtaken by bubble algae. Rather than try to pick out all the BA I just ended up throwing everything out. So I think I am going to go without a fuge for awhile and see how it works out. I plan on removing a couple of rocks from the DT during a water change in the near future to really work on the BA problem via manual removal.
  23. I put the temp probe in the first chamber where the water is coming down from the overflow in the DT. There is no temp difference between the water in that chamber vs. the display tank. Note that I have the heaters downstream of the temp probe, and they are in the second chamber.
  24. You can always ask on here first if any members are selling used Apex equipment. Reefcentral and reef2reef always have users selling various accessories too.
