  1. Foxface is behaving himself for now. Really like this fish. Shame my tank will end up being too small for it when it gets big!
  2. Just put the foxface in an acclimation box tonight.... with bubble algae. Marco thought that was hilarious.
  3. Thanks! Yes that was a birdsnest colony on the far left. I recently sold it to make room for more Acros. A couple fish related updates - Jawfish RIP. Cut on its gill finally got to him. Anthias RIP. Not sure what happened to this guy. One day it was fine, and the next it couldn't swim or eat. One spot foxface added. Ruby Red Dragonet added. Bangaii Cardinal added.
  4. Isaac, the last one in your first post is my favorite. Simple, and the sand is really really clean. Unlike mine right now!
  5. The expense doesn't bother me. It's all a part of the hobby. I started with LEDs, and now I have T5s. I like the T5s but the next build for sure will be Halide/T5.
  6. Blue plus bulbs are very blue but give the best growth out of any other T5 bulb ATI makes. When all the lights are on this combo gives off a 18-20K look. Still a nice blue tint. If I wanted more white I could swap the coral plus for a Aquablue Special.
  7. From going out and hand picking coral, quarantining fish, fragging coral, taking pictures/videos and lots more. Richard and Marco are two of the hardest working people I have ever met. Great work again gents. Wamas is very lucky to have you as a vendor.
  8. The ones I ordered from John at reef cleaners stay in my tank.
  9. You mentioned you were using water from your main system for water changes? Ich is in the display, right? Why would you use water that has ich? Keep in mind PraziPro does not eradicate ich. You'll need to use Cupramine. Buy and download Mr. saltwater tank's guide to Quarantine as it has a ton of information. Worth every penny.
  10. I use a 17 gallon rubbermaid container for my 57 gallon system with a small heater and maxijet 1200 pump for mixing. You can find a bunch of different shapes/sizes at any Walmart, or Lowes.
  11. T5 bulb combo update. Since I can't raise the light fixture any higher I replaced two of the blue plus with actinic bulbs. This has cut down on the amount of PAR overall, and added a lower spectrum to the mix. I am getting a Reefbrite blue tech light to add some more "pop" to the corals as well. Front Reefbrite Blue Plus Actinic Coral Plus Purple Plus Blue Plus Actinic Back I really like the look of this combo, and can't wait to see how the Reefbrite looks. Not to mention the dusk/dawn combo of a Blue Plus and an Actinic Bulb looks much better to me than two Blue Pluses.
  12. Sold the birdsnest colony which was fairly large for this size tank, and guess what? Calcium and alkalinity started to rise over the next few days after it left. It turned out that big colony was sucking up a lot of calcium/alkalinity! I was dosing 50ml of calcium/alk each, and I shut both dosers off today. I'll re-check the parameters over the next couple days to see what the new consumption rate becomes, but even after lowering both to 30ml/day each calcium and alk were still climbing. Going to stop adding corals for awhile, or at least attempt to and focus on water quality. Even though I have seen a vast improvement in color in the SPS, I think it can be better.
  13. That's a lot of color even under the blues!
  14. Still under warranty? Contact Ecotech directly. They'll help you out.
  15. You can drive yourself crazy with all these combos
  16. Also give the bulbs some time to break in before you make a change.
  17. Throw on as many blue plus bulbs from front to back as you can stand, and work from there
  18. Great looking tank. I hear it's a sight to see in person!
  19. Hey Matt, CoralVue has some videos up on their YouTube channel demoing these in larger tanks. It looks like one of these ALONE will move a lot of water! Check them out! https://m.youtube.com/user/CoralVueTV
  20. Hi Morgan, First off - good for you on setting up a quarantine tank! As someone who tried "winging" in the past without putting fish through at least a 30 day QT period I got bit, BAD! So I started reading up on QT procedures, and there was a ton of information out there. By far the best resource I came across is Mark Callahan's (Mr. Saltwatertank) book. https://www.mrsaltwatertank.com/quarantine/ It has the answers to all of your questions. I highly recommend reading it! If you are interested in saving some time, and having someone else do the QT for you, the only vendor on here I know of that does proper quarantining is Exotic Reef Creations. PM monkiboy and he will be more than happy to go over your stock list with you.
