...gotta give more information. What size is your tank? What kind of lights are you running and how far from the surface of the water? What are your water parameters (now and historically)? What else is in the tank? (this includes both intentionally introduced items such as coral AND unintentional items such as GHA, bubble algae, cyano, etc) How big is the clam ? Do you feed it? If so, how (target? water column with the pumps off? etc)? Also what do you feed it? Is there anything else going on out of the ordinary in the tank? pH/alk/Ca spikes etc? Did you lose power in the outage?

In all practical terms - is there really any way for us to reverse what we've done to the oceans aside from just leaving the planet? Mankind's population has been on the exponential rise with no signs of leveling out (let alone decreasing) for hundreds of years. No matter how 'responsible' the policies lawmakers may put into place, are we still not doomed to produce too much waste? I hate to sound like a fatalist, but really - is there even any hope? I'm really frightened to find out what happens to non-marine biological factors when 90%+ of the life in the ocean loses its habitat (and inevitably dies). I really don't think any actions taken by any lawmaker can solve the problem. I'm also fairly certain that the U.S. and India are not likely to adopt a China-like replacement-only reproductive policy - so the world population is going to continue to increase on an exponential scale. We're not going to turn back to pre-industrial-revolution technology/lifestyles (unless forced to by depletion of oil reserves). Isn't that really the cause? Too many people X mass produced waste = no hope of balance.

Hopefully you can still cancel the order for the mag 2... Just put a ball valve on the return line from the new pump and dial that flow down. No need to buy another pump.

Just do 10% water changes once every week or two and be patient. I'm talking months of patience. That's a huge system to mature without any seed material. Just let it go for a few (i'd recommend atleast 6) months without putting more living things into it, unless it's a bag of live pods. A completed nitrogen cycle does not equal a balanced ecosystem.
