haha, man that feels like years ago! thanks for posting up, sir. i did those for the manufacturer when i first got the system. the system and support are top tier. highly recommended system!

the buckets are metering reservoirs. they have optical and mechanical sensors that measure exactly one gallon of fluid. they are part of the AWC system. a pump delivers one exact gallon of sump water to one while another pump delivers one exact gallon of new salt water. then when level and precisely measured by the sensors, they slowly release their water to their destination (sump water to waste drain and new salt to sump) per the requested input on the controller (amount of gallons per day/week/continuous). yes i do, normally late nights or early mornings. i work a lot and don't require a ton of sleep to operate at peak but when i do get a bit fatigued the excitement of a finished portion of the build keeps me going the next day.

getting filtration systems back online including the RO/DI. waiting on information on a few new larger water containers and on some hose clamps to mount things neatly to the wall. thankfully when i finished the basement i put plywood along the entire large rear wall behind the drywall because the space was intended to be a bar. now i can securely mount anything i like there, like the RO/DI. on the side, i mounted up a sheet to hold my AWC, ATO, and other systems within an easy guide path for the lines to drain, sump, and to the water containers.

thanks for the info, sir. i'll definitely take all that into consideration. if you have any other tips feel free to post up. the coast to coast will literally be just that, the entire span of the tank - so around 7'. i'm going back and forth on what return pump to utilize for the sump return to the tank but was thinking about 2-5x turn over to maximize efficiency through contact-time with the skimmer. any ideas or calculations you want to do would be swell! oh, and yes the C2C is going to be toothless. thanks a ton!

awesome to see you on here -thanks for posting! good luck with the build. it will be good to see another build with the evergrow d120s over it too for reference and data.

thank you, sir. i appreciate the support. i honestly wish it was larger but i'm not going to be able to accomplish that in this house. i'll enjoy it for the next couple years for sure and then bigger and better!

thank you, sir. i'm really digging it, too! thanks a ton - look forward to the info!

probably will install the custom coast to coast from adam (artfully acrylic) when i shim the stand for the resettling that occurs. definitely nice to see the tank in the space with trim and have that part of my basement back!

sliding her from her resting spot to the opening with some 3" and 4" PVC pipe i had laying around... getting ready to put her in place. thankfully i had another strong soul visiting and between the three of us we got her up and in her final destination. don't know if just me and my dad could of done it without the extra muscle so that was a swell surprise. tank is in, trim work done, baseboard and bullnose, just needs some mud tonight and i'll skim tomorrow. got the existing sump running temporarily while i figure out design of the layout in the room, figure out the water storage, etc.

thank you for the offer, sir!

thank you, i ditched the idea. thank you - left it in place. haha, i can't sit around and see my basement a mess like that and with such an exciting project - i'm all go-go-go! thanks for the advice - i left the bottom trim in place. thank you - i'm excited to get her wet, ready, and cycled for sure! no, i'm not a lone ranger on this project - my dad helps. we conquer a lot of projects together. he's owns a design/build firm and is a general contractor so i learned a lot growing up working with/for him, which helps a ton in these kinds of endeavors as one would imagine. thanks for the heads up and call. i'm planning on filling up halfway for a few days, let things settle and reassess how things are. good input. yes, i saw that in your build thread which is where i got the idea to use my garage matting instead of the insulation sheet. good to hear about another experience with settling. glad you were able to get it rectified!

thanks for the offers of help and comments - i appreciate the support and enthusiasm. keeps me going!

holy jeebus....excellent work, sir! cannot wait for my build to be done!

have a lot more to update but got to get these evergrow LED lights in the truck and out to tysons pick up point!

of course not. i'm using a torpedo - 12".

thanks tony and alan, ok so definitely nothing but the stand under the tank - no foam or insulation sheething. the bottom trim intact. about to move this thing and don't want to have to do it twice. stand is absolutely perfectly level but thought folks used the insulation, like you mentioned, for stand/wood settling with DIY stands and that i might benefit since i have seen a lot of builds on here with it. but i trust your judgement completely, so i'll go without. thanks for the quick replies.

do i need to kilz/waterproof my stand? about to get the existing sump for the upstairs back up and running temporarily and the 265 on the stand. also, can i use this stuff on top of the stand. about .5" thick and perfect size or should i go get some foam insulation sheet at HD and in what measurement? quick answers appreciated! how thick is required or needed for a tank this size? the whole point is just to eat up some, if any, of the unlevel-ness over time, yes? also, should i remove the lower trim from the tank. it is not structurally doing anything. it does not have any bracing crossing the bottom pane. it is just a square frame trim. didn't know if having no trim and an edge to sit on would be better to allow the entire lower pane to absorb the force/pressure vs just having the edge/border of the trim taking it all as it lifts the tank by about .5" immediate thoughts appreciated. thanks!

trying to get a lot done today. running an additional 12-3 line to add some GCFIs on separate breakers. looking to have at least three of four 15-20A quad boxes in the fish room and under the tank. did a final skim coat, sanded, and primed: then started breaking down the existing fish room to be able to demo the wall to allow access behind the 265. with the sump removed and fish filtration goodies out of there, time to knock down some wall!

awesome to hear! are we more like a year out or a couple months? was working on gathering some components for my own design but know whatever you put out will be a cleaner operation so want to judge if i should drop it for now. thanks for always tinkering with new ideas!

yeah that looks pretty darn serious for a BTA sting. maybe from a more potent anemone perpetrator but not a BTA like she says. or maybe an allergic reaction to something...just very odd. any one else have this kind of reaction with your run of the mill BTA? if you ever find yourself contemplating the idea of breeding clowns or just like to collect books on aquaria, a staple is joyce's "clownfish" book that has a whole chapter or so dedicated to nems outside of the obvious information as they relate to clowns. when your system and you are ready for a BTA, let me know and i'll hook you up!

"the humidity is controller by an exhaust fan and a set of motorized louvers that draw in outside air , it come on for 5 minutes every half hour or if the room humidity sensor detects high humidity"

the pressure switch can get clogged just as easily and you want to make sure you keep it clean, free of algae, crabs, etc just as much as a float switch. with the float switch you can use a snail guard or similar.

awesome. that's my general for almost all livestock and then for particular fish prone to other diseases treat accordingly. i was just going to ask about the other angel - that's great they have gotten along now. what size QT are you able to use for that angel and powder. i have a 3' long but am wondering if i need to go to a 4' for some of the larger fish to keep them less stressed or not. how large are your freshwater and saltwater vats/containers? and in one of your photos i noticed a 2x4 multi tank stand. is this your QT setup? any pictures of this you can post? pardon all the questions - just trying to get ideas for my build. thanks!
-
tom. can you post a couple photos of this please? sounds like what i'm going to have to do with my larger setup and a couple separate tanks. thanks!
-
man, all that room for such great-looking fish. that's great! glad you're qt'ing. did you prophylactically treat either the powder or the angel in that shot? any bullying with your current stock list?
