  1. http://www.ebay.com/itm/20-GAL-L-REFUGIUM-KIT-30-x-12-x13-custom-protein-skimmer-sump-aquarium-filter-/181080438976?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D5774251816439103180%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D181080438976%26 I ordered one of these kits, custom cut for a 30 gallon breeder. It should arrive today. Tomorrow I will hopefully put together my very first (successful) sump/refugium. I tried using baffles that are pressure locked into the sump on a previous tank and it failed miserably. (those things were really wedged in there too) I will update this with pictures when the package arrives and then again as I put it all together. Thanks for following along.
  2. I am sure you already made your purchase but I use the Red Sea Trio kit for Mag, KH, Ca. It is serving me well so far.
  3. Happy Valentines Day honey, instead of a manicure, I got you a saltwater tank full of skunk cleaner shrimp... Will you still love me tomorrow?
  4. thanks for the information. Sounds like they are best purchased as singles if you do not have a very large system.
  5. I am using the waveline 3000 for my 30 gallon and it is awesome. Very sturdy built. Whisper quiet and that's no exaggeration. Not to mention the convenience of the 10 minute feeding feature and how it ramps back up slowly when the 10 minutes are up. I give the pump 5 stars so far.
  6. Are there noticeable differences in the male and female of this species? Also, I thought that someone mentioned once that they are aggressive toward one another?
  7. My pleasure everyone. Glad you like it. I have been working on the tank for a long time...LOL Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2
  8. Did you see the video of his basement and sump? It is also very impressive. He uses a dialysis machine to do non stop water changes on his tank...WOW
  9. This videos is part of a piece Advanced Aquarist did on a gentleman in Bridgewater, Massachussetts. Absolutely lovely!!!
  10. I just realized that I failed to give any specifics about the saltwater tank. Mg- 1600 ppm Alk- 10 dKH Ca- 490 ppm The tank: 30 gallons (36" x 18" x 12") with a wet/dry filter. ( I put rock rubble in place of the bio-balls) The lighting: 6 x T5: 3 x 39 watt T5 HO 12,000K 3 x 39 watt T5 HO Actinic Blue 6 x Dual Blue Moon LEDs I am consulting my LFS about housing SPS in the system. I am getting about 600 gph of flow thru the tank. I don't run a skimmer but I do a 5 gallon water change every other day.
  11. Thanks everyone for participating in this thread. The response has been greater than I imagined, keep the good words coming. I would also like to add a thank you to Pristine Aquariums, and to the Sean who use to run the great LFS in reston that closed a while back, (pouring a little whiskey on the ground) You are missed!!! *Congratulations Quantum Reefs on the retail store, we have your back. Next to giving you guys my money, this thread is the least I (or any of us for that matter) could do to say thank you. *Treesprite, I dig the graphic and I vote yes on LFS week and yes on the date.
  12. That's brilliant, I got a good laugh this morning reading this.
  13. Hey everyone, As of late there has been a bit of a hard go at LFS on our forums. As consumers we are very quick to complain and slow to praise sometimes. That being said, I would like to open a forum for us to throw some good words out there about our favorite LFS. I will begin with a heart felt "you complete me" shout out to the ever amazing Quantum Reefs. These guys sell quality at quality prices. They are generous with their knowledge and time. Twice now Vince has gone out of his way to deliver special orders to my work place. Steve, though we have yet to meet face to face, has given me lots of valuable information and waists no time responding to my pm's. All of the live stock I have purchased has been healthy and vibrant. Quantum Reefs, this buds for you. Thanks alot guys.
  14. Thank you very much. If I can get my salty to be as impressive, I will be a very happy hobbyist.
  15. Well, wrong or right, you led me to my answer and I appreciate it.
  16. Mine is definitely Blasto Wellsi. Looks just like the one in the link I posted above. What is our experience with this coral?
  17. Thanks for the ID. With it, I was able to find a pic of the exact ones I have. Mine has four heads on the frag. Are they fast growing? I have them on the sand bed as they were just introduced. http://www.livingreefs.com/gallery/files/1/8/9/2/Blastos.JPG
  18. I have some slate in the shed actually. Perhaps I will break a piece tonight. Thanks for the recommendation.
  19. I have a frag of this but I don't know what it is. Thanks for the help. "]http://[/url]
