I think it's stresses afterwards. I have a pretty big pump and i think the way it was positioned it caused lots of stress. BUT my girlfriend said she noticed a leak before there was a crack. Maybe there was a small crack and i just didn't see it. But i will say the guy that did the drilling he only put kaulk on the inside of the glass and not both sides of the glass.

i was going to use a 30 gallon sump on a 75 gallon main tank. I have a 10 gallon that i use for QT, i think i'll use that as a sump now and just get another 10 gallon as QT. I need to get this done asap. Before the weekend.

it's the sump that went crackle pop. i just don't feel like taking it to the lfs and paying 90 bucks for the glass drilling and a little bit of piping.

tried to start my sump and fuge today. got all the way to the point of starting my overflow. but next thing something told me to make sure everything is tight and nothing is leaking. Next thing i know i take a step to the left on the small rug, and it's wet. next thing i am panicking wondering why it's wet, next thing i notice is cracked glass near the hole drilled where the pipe is attached. boy i tell you. ever seen a big guy move? should've seen me. i think it was record time, unplugging everything. so does anyone on wamas know how to drill a tank? i

2 of my corals are doing it now. One has been doing it ever since i got it but it returns to it's original color. I've had it for 2 months now and i think i've only seen it's color off and on for maybe 3 weeks. But like i said mine goes back to it's original color.

I would ask your local fish stores if they can special order the food for you? Most stores i've been to have no problem doing that. Also sometimes internet sites have specials on shipping, but im not sure whats expensive to you in regards to shipping. Maybe e-mail nutramar and see if they have a list of stores they sell to or even wholesalers and take that to your local fish store. I'll tell you that the 800 number on nutramar website doesn't work. i tried calling it to find out for you.

whenever i turn off the lights, then turn them on in the morning. My yellow tang is pale. But during the time the light is on. It's a beautiful yellow color. Is it supposed to be like that?

i have to modify my cap make it taller. so the pendant isn't so close to the water. i've seen some hanging kits that hang from the back of the tank. that would be simple. i can't hang anything from the wall or my ceiling unfortunately.

Does anyone know where i can get a pendant hang kit. i'd like to attach it to my hood/cap. thanks

I am trying to follow this thread, and my newbie experience on this topic is making my head spin. Can someone explain the differences or pros and cons on DE and SE. Also I'm guessing radiums and phoenix are just bulbs? thanks

Thanks I'll have to check it out. Yesterday i went to Aquarium One. They sell water for 50 cents a gallon, whole foods does 39 cents a gallon. I'll go with whole foods for now. But i must say I went in for water at Aquarium One walked out with 15lbs of rock for 5.99lb when i got home to put it in my tank. There's growth all over the rock. Looks like pot coral on the rocks, i'll take some pictures and post it on here. Thanks everyone for the advice/help

Thanks Zygote2k, I looked inside my local giant their wasn't a 5 gallon of distilled. I'll look at another location. I am having to add water to my tank everyweek and i just don't want to have 5-1 gallon jugs of distilled water standing around when i can possible have one 5 gallon. Treesprite- Everyone i've spoke with has told me to use distilled water. Before i've used my deer park delivery water to do water changes. My tank is only 4 months old or close to it. Last night i did my first water change with distilled water, I'll see if any noticeable changes in regards to algea. Mountaineer- Sorry i didn't know how to show my location until i played with it now.

I searched the forums before posting but i couldn't find anything. It's a pain in the rear end to buy 1 gallon jugs of distilled water. I looked at target/walmart/giant/safeway and they only had 1 gallon jugs of distilled water.

funny reefhunter lol, i was more asking on if there was any benefits not cleaning the back glass and keeping algae growing there. I'll definitely clean the side and front glass. but just wanted to know if there was any benefit keeping it there on the back glass.

Time for my water change, my tank is fairly new about 4 months now. I've got pink and green and brown algea growing on the glass. I know brown and green algea are bad. But If i clean glass everything is getting scraped off. So my question is should i scrape everything off my glass?

can you tell me the specs of those lights please? how much they were?

I've got brown algae growing in glass on rocks on heater and filter intake tube. I did a water change and that helped for a day or 2. when it started growing back i went out and got these small brown type rocks to put in a cartridge and goes into the filter. Nothing has helped. I know i'll have to probably take the rocks out and clean them and filter the sand. Can anyone give me some advice on what to do? the tank is 3 months old and this just started a week ago about. all i have in the tank are fish and rocks. thanks

Hello Everyone, I just joined today, was told about WAMAS by gmubeach. I must say this is one of the best informative sites that I've been to so far. I am looking forward to sharing and bothering everyone else :o) on questions or problems that I run into. I started my saltwater tank 3 months ago. It's a 75 gallon tank, with about 30lbs of fiji rocks in it and 6 fish. My goal with this tank is to have reef/fish environment. Slowly but surely I am getting there. Today I did my first water change. (brown algea) started growing. Quick note about myself. I live in Bethesda, MD. I work in IT. If anyone has any questions on computers feel free to ask.
