  1. my overflow is rated for 1200gph, i don't know what 1200gph looks like, but looking at my tubes thats going into my sump, certainly doesn't look like it's pushing out 1200gph. I believe my mag12 is rated for 1200gph that thing is pushing out 1200gph certainly. i don't know if im missing something. But can the output in the overflow be adjusted some how? i tried searching everywhere for an answer to this issue. any help is appreciated.
  2. origami posted a comment about fishless cycling, it is also said if you google it or just do a search on cycling tanks that some people use urine to cycle tanks also. You've got a lot of choices out there on cycling your tank, go with what you're comfortable with. do a search lot's of good articles out there.
  3. or you can just pour urine in your tank.
  4. do you have testing kits? depending on where you live i know congressional aquarium in rockville will test your water for free. When i cycled my tank i did it with rocks and sand in it, i also bought two damsel fish, because they are hardy and cheap fish. since you used tap water you probably have chlorine there, not sure if you have anything that get's rid of chlorine? comes handy sometimes. Then i just waited about 2 months and let it cycle. Their are these fast cycle products out there, not sure how good they are or if they even do anything. But i've never used it. Also one thing i didn't have is patience. So i recommend patience with saltwater :o)
  5. holy moly that is one awesome fish. i just read up on it.
  6. what type of fish is that? that's awesome
  7. you should make that into a stripper pole. sheesh i don't know what it is with me and stripper poles.
  8. i agree with Eric, i've tried uploading pictures even posted to get help on this site. noone ever contacted me. but it never worked for me. i've read the requirements for uploading
  9. oh ok, working for me pretty good. but good to know that.
  10. i bought a storage container for 5 bucks at home depot. i can get measurements later when i get home. comes with a lid it's rubbermaid i believe and it's blue
  11. Unfortunately this is with a lot of ER's these days. As a former EMT for couple of years. I've seen how worse it got as time went on. This is because of many different factors. Some not to blame on ER nurses/Doctors. That's all i'll say on this topic. I consider the best ER's to be INOVA Fairfax and Suburban.
  12. ugh and now that im looking at my hardwood flooring i think that's going to have to be changed now. oh lordy, i can do this.
  13. oh and better yet i think the tubing coming from the overflow has a hole in it.
  14. THIS IS SO EFFIN IRRITATING. ok im ok now. so my girl calls me today, panicking that the sump is over flowing. so i tell her to unplug everything. but the sump is still overflowing. so water is everywhere, i think over the weekend im going to go and get a plastic liner to go below the sump and just have it act as a bucket. so i think what happened was the pump stopped working and the out flow tubing became a siphon and pulled water from my tank to the sump. atleast my fuge is working properly right now. i hope.
  15. i guess i shouldn't take up plumbing lol
  16. i hope you guys have labeled all those pipes lol
  17. yeah i know that, but thanks for looking out i was going to get a piece of acrylic and place it inside of the tank and against the glass and attach it. or find a smaller sock
  18. success, sump has been running for 2 days without any problems. Refugium is going up tonight. So my temp setup is a 10 gallon sump with a mag12 submersible pump, I was able to fit a skimmer in there my heater and 2 socks but i need to by smaller socks or somehow hang the current socks on something taller.
  19. i already spent a lot on the pump and other stuff. but can't i just run flexible tubing into the tank without drilling holes? Obviously i'd have to find something to attach the flexible tubing so it doesn't go everywhere, but that i think will be the easy part, maybe.
  20. Ok, i think i know what i have to do. Since im in a time crunch here. For now i'll put the 10 gallon in as a sump. I found a plastics company that sells cell cast acrylic, and pricing isn't that bad. So that'll be my new project is to build a sump with acrylic.
  21. ahhh ok, i got it now. thanks.
  22. Home Depot carries the polycarbonate and they said they would cut it to the size i want (panels) But i would have to obviously get the clear kaulk and do that myself. That doesn't sound to hard to me? Unless im missing something. (which is entirely possible).
  23. i think im going to buy some polycarbonate sheets and build a sump. Any thoughts?
  24. the guy who did for me put on hard pvc with ball valves. i wonder if the glass cutting hand tool will cut a hole that i need?
