House is 70 or 72, but this is in the basement which may be cooler. Tank is a 75 which likely has about 80g of total volume. Heater in the tank is 100W or maybe 150 and set to keep the tank above 76. But, all of that is really irrelevant. I was just looking at the temp and power charts on my Apex and noted the heater is running a lot. If I let it cool down more, reason would say it would run less and use less power. I was asking if dropping it to something lower - say 74 or 75 would be ok.

I know I'm deficient on the pictures - I've been busy. I thought I'd update anyway. The little brown turd died back a bit but appears to be turning a nice red color. So, I hope that means it is on the mend. I guess I'll have to start calling it the little red turd.

Well that's not helpful at all. I have a heater and I bought the halides on purpose.
-
My tank is in the basement. I currently have it set to 76 degrees and the heater is running a lot. The halides are hardly even hearing it up. To save energy, can I allow it to run cooler? How low is a safe setting?

What spray paint can I use IN my tank?

Maybe but it doesn't take long for them to crawl out. Even just letting it sit dry for a few minutes working at fragging (like zoas) is enough for them to start coming out. If you do it one rock at a time I'd think the tank could handle it and you'd slowly cut back the population.

Take the rock out and put it in a bucket of freshwater. They will come out of the rock.

I got a shipment of 36 corals this weekend. I figure I'd better get my ca rx online now. I have a brand new co2 tank so I'm looking to get it filled rather than swapped. Anyone know a place to do this? The closer to Alexandria the better.
-
Coral time. I just received the shipment of my corals from my friend back in mn who was watching them for me. This is going to look life a reef in no time.

How many holes are there? You could put a right angle street elbow in it and a pipe towards the surface for a herbie.

OK, after some sleuthing, I found 4 of the images. I hope mr coral does not mind me posting them. I will try to take some updated pics now that the pieces look like they are starting to adjust to my lights. The larger acan may actually be looking better than mr corals photo. It is picking up a nice green color around the edges of the polyps. I am very happy with this one. The blue milli is picking up a green on the tips and just might color up into something very interesting. The smaller of the acans is underwhelming and my pick 1 fancy strawberry milli, well, it still looks like a brown turd, but it might just need to have more time. It did have extra stress in shipping and require regluing. The zoas I'm not happy with an will get rid of them at some point here. Overall, I think I got 1.5 nice pieces for sure and I'm happy. At the moment, I am still planning to do another order once I have some time and I see a box worth of corals on the site I like at the same time. Edit to add side by side: I think it is quite clear that I got the frags I ordered. I noted my lighting above and I know that mr coral has different lighting so that accounts for some of the differences I'm sure.

Don't be so quick to say that. Lots of people have bulb failures after a year or two. Saltwater is unfriendly to electronics. I'd be surprised to get more than 5 years out of an led fixture before having to rebuild something.
-
Try that math again.
-
I made this thread to review my purchase not point fingers. I am certain I got the exact frags I ordered. I'm sure if mr coral sends me his pics or posts them that will be very clear.
-
You don't need to buy anything. It will go away on its own in a week or two.

Correct. Put your login info for the ISP in and then your gmail in the to field. If there is a way to use a gmail server, I don't know about it. I have the apex though so it might be a little different. Although, I would be mildly irritated if the AC3 could do something my apex couldn't do.
-
There are a handful of services that don't require that. Why not just create an account for your ac3 at your ISP and have it send it to your gmail? You can put anything you want in the to field. You just can't have the ac3 send from a gmail account.

There is an estimator to get you a discounted shipping label on that site I linked to. Put in the dimensions and weight and see what it says.
-
Also, where are you located? I have one box right now and I'm getting another on Tuesday. You are welcome to them if you want them. I'm in Alexandria.
-
www.shipyouraquatics.com I've never used them myself, but I've thought about it.
-
I haven't used it before. I'm thinking of starting. I don't want to shop at F&F so I was looking for somewhere else. I'll try and make it out to Marine Scene.

I think Paul might have the oldest system anywhere. I think they might be self sustaining from light to a degree. At least, they respond to light. I had them in plague proportions in a tank once. If they get too bad, they will smother corals. Otherwise, they should go away on their own in time. Some wrasses are supposed to eat them, but I never had any luck long term with that.
-
For how many outlets? By the time you buy timers and a heater controller, you can have a RKL. There is/was a AC Jr pretty cheap nt the for sale forum that would be a great pick up as well.

Copperband Butterfly questions please

I've had the same experience. Fat, eating, and then suddenly dead. I've got a feeling that's why the one in the auction went so high. I'd buy another that was established but I don't think I'll order another one in. -
OK, it took me a bit longer to get the photos finished than I planned, but here they are. I asked Mr. Coral for the posted sale pictures to put up a comparison, but I have not received them yet. My lights are 2x150W DE 14K pheonix. I will add a UVL 454 Actinic, but it isn't running yet. I'm pretty happy with the acans. I'd order them again. The zoas were supposed to be blue. I'm not sure what kind of light it would take to turn them blue, but they don't look at all blue to me. The blue milli shows hints of blue and will probably color up. The strawberry shortcake milli is the one that broke off its plug and needed to be reglued. I'm not sure how this one is going to do. I'll wait and see on it.
