  1. I've done 2 tanks with dry rock from BRS. One time with eco rocks and one time with shelf/fiji. If you don't soak it, it will discolor the water, but that can be fixed by running a little carbon. It will clear up right away. You don't need to add anything to make it cycle. Some people like to do a muriatic acid wash on it, but I have not found the need myself.
  2. There are a couple choices you can put right in the biocube and not have to hang it off the back. Sapphire aquatics makes 1 or 2 (I'm not sure what is currently available, but there used to be a single pump one and a recirculating model), CPR makes one, The Tunze 9002 will fit. FWIW, I tried a couple of those on my biocube and none of them work all that great. If I was still running that tank, I'd think of doing GFO. Sapphire makes a cheap reactor that will fit as does at least one other manufacturer I can't think of right now. The last 9 months or so I ran that tank, I just ran it skimmerless. I didn't do water changes all that often either but when I did, I did big ones.
  3. Unless you have agreed otherwise or the buyer has taken control of the shipping arrangements, I think it is on the seller to make delivery. If it doesn't arrive in good condition its on them to take the loss o replace the items.
  4. I've had good luck with the ones from Bulk Reef Supply. If you order by 2, they ship same day.
  5. One of the LFS here in MN did that moving 1 400W (I think) over 4 feet of a shallow frag tank. They had a hard time keeping the corals colored over time and ended up shutting it down. If I were going to do that, I would take the suggestion to drop to 2 bulbs and have them move back and forth. Then you have good coverage for high light stuff in the middle all the time and can keep less demanding things on the sides.
  6. When I had one pump, I preferred Lagoon (purple) mode because it kept the water moving more. Now that I have a pair, I run them on Reef Crest (yellow) and have liked that so far. I also have them set to do night mode, but it seems that every few weeks I have to reset it because it forgets or something.
