  1. What's the issue? white balance? exposure?
  2. This is definitely a you get what you pay for piece of equipment. Particularly the regulator. I started with a Milwaukee. The bubble count fluctuated causing my controller to try to stop it with the solenoid - except that the solenoid leaked. So, my cell phone is going nuts with emails in the middle of the night because the tank pH was dropping way low. It just about buzzed itself right off the nightstand. So, scrap that and build a good regulator with a good solenoid and a good needle valve. Then, the flow was not steady due to the crappy ball valve I had on the output. Scrap that and replace it with a good quality needle valve. To be honest, if its not been one thing, its been another for me going on the last 8 months or so. Its only been a few weeks since I've finally got all the upgraded parts installed and everything turned back on. Since then, its been great. Set it and forget it till the tank is empty or the media is used up. This, I really like. So, its been a process trying to get mine running and dialed in in a reliable manner. Just be careful along the way because if things go wrong, they can go wrong in a big way.
  3. I've never paid $75 for a halide bulb and my corals grow fine. I never said led. That tank could be lit with t5 or halide much cheaper than led. And while I might not be able to DIY for $100, I could build an led fixture for that tank much cheaper than $300.
  4. I wouldn't call a $300-400 light setup budget for a 27 gallon tank. I could light that tank for $100. Maybe less.
  5. Valves on drains work great. But you should have an emergency drain as a backup when doing so.
  6. Go over the top. Less holes less chance for cracking. Also, you can generally setup them up so the siphon breaks faster and less water drains to the sump in a power outage.
  7. Alexandria. That 1262 might be too much for a single overflow. I had one and it pumped so much water it shot through the overflow teeth and made lots of waterfall noise. I returned it for a 1260 which is better. That said, I might go back to it if I ever need to replace the pump and set it up on a manifold to supply a couple reactors too.
  8. A 1.5" drain is huge for a 75. I run a herbie on a 1" drain and still have to restrict it quite a bit. Unless you are running a monster pump (and then I would ask why), you don't need plumbing that big. I do a 3/4 return over the top. You are welcome to stop by and look if you want but I don't have any pics handy.
  9. The color of the silicone doesn't matter. But, you are right that you don't want the stuff with mildew inhibitor in it. Ge number one I believe is the stuff you want. It comes in all colors. Most likely clear and black are sitting on the shelf right next to white.
  10. It is strange. But as far as I know aefw are red. I once freaked out thinking I had aefw. Then I remembered I just fed cyclopeeze and calmed down. Could be something added to the tank too.
  11. I don't think "budget" and "led" go together unless you DIY. Also, don't worry about that glass top. You don't need it.
  12. Any of them can do it. With kalk and a calcium reactor, I suggest going with the Apex that supports 2 pH right out of the box - one for teh tank and one for the ca rx.
  13. Mine does. They can be setup to do just about anything. My next addition will likely be a water sensor on the floor so I get an email if there is any sort of leak.
  14. More important that the ability to check from your phone is that it will send you emails if something has gone wrong. The Apex is where its at. Neptune has excellent customer service and a good product. DA has an OK product and notoriously bad customer service. For a small system, the Apex Jr looks great on paper but I haven't played with one myself yet.
  15. I doubt it's hose water. More likely premixed saltwater from a tank in their vehicle.
  16. No issues here. Iphone4. There was an update not to long ago. Have you installed it?
  17. Yes. 70 and 150 fit in the same size socket but 250 is different.
  18. You could drain it to relieve the pressure and reduce the bow and use weld on to put a new acrylic brace across the broken one. Then fill back up.
  19. 1260.
  20. I was there tonight. There are a few clownfish and a couple other things. Prices are still too high on most dry goods. I tried negotiating and they seem pretty crabby about it and insisted the prices weren't going any lower towards the end of the week. The fish area is starting to be broken down but there is still a ton of stuff in there. We ended up buying some bird toys and thats it.
  21. So, are they empty and done? or will there be followup sales through the end of the month?
  22. It has no built in shut off. It will suck air and keep going. It's a reliable pump though. I use one and recommend it. As far as drain clogging, you are looking for a pump solution to a plumbing problem. Add an emergency or second drain to the system.
  23. We get them from petsmart. No wings. No noise.
