Its tough for me to see on the picture, but if you have a 4 stage RODI with the far right canister being the DI resin, it should read 0 until the resin is exhausted. This is also assuming you are measuring after the DI and not between the RO membrane and the DI. A reading of 4 is in range if it is the output of the RO membrane before the DI canister. It is high if it the product water after the DI resin. That said, if you have some kind of an economy unit and the membrane is crappy or not fitted right and you ran a lot of bad water through the DI resin, it is possible that it is exhausted. The water should be coming out as a trickle. If it is flowing with a lot of pressure, the membrane isn't installed correctly.

Are you on city water? Old house with rusty pipes? Mine don't really change color, but some people with high iron in the water do have them change fast. Where are you measuring? Input and out or RO that sounds about right. It might have been reading zero before if you had just turned it on and there wasn't any water to the sensor yet. If that's out of the DI and its only been run an hour, while it is possible the DI is used up, its highly unlikely. I'd be more inclined to think you have channeling in the DI resin and it needs to be packed in tighter.

You could. It will pump faster without the head pressure so I pump the new water into the sump and periodically run the return to move it up to the display.

Get as much of it out as you can. If there is a little left, it will be fine. If you have a shop vac, it'll suck it out. For filling, I just fill the display tank and let it run over into the sump. Realize that the sump level will drop when you start the pump up. Also make sure you are ready the first time you shut it off to make sure the siphon breaks before the sump overflows. If you are running the return pump when adding the salt, there is no need to add the salt to the sump too. It will all mix up. Remember to let it heat up and mix for a while before testing the salinity. For cycling, you don't even need to do the shrimp thing, but if you do, just let it soak for a while. Don't let it rot. An eheim is an expensive pump for mixing water. I use a maxijet 1200.

Generally they are thicker. Also, that top edge may be sharp and jagged and the sides may not line up perfectly. It's not intended to be looked at when they build it. I don't recommend this plan.

If you want a DIY challenge for a little tank like that, go get a cabinet/bookshelf from Ikea to put it on.

Thanks for the offer, but definitely not the same from a 1260. This is a much smaller pump. I think I finally found the part number on some German website and can get a replacement for around $10-15. At least I won't have to buy a new pump.

Does any school need a 250W MH ballast? I recently bought a retro kit with a dual bluewave ballast, but one doesn't fire so I need to get something else for my own use. I'll offer up this ballast that will still fire one bulb to a school if one needs one.

I need a new one of these for an eheim 1046. Anyone know where I can get one?

Got a pic of this light problem? It doesn't make much sense to me. IIRC, there are a couple screws that tighten down the adjustment on the legs. If it is crooked on one side, you might just need to loosen them and tighten it up. If it won't fit at all, you might have the "feet" on backwards. About the salt, that's just a can of worms. IMHO, there isn't much difference and I buy the cheapest stuff I can get. Other people disagree and spend lots of money on salt claiming it is "better," but I've yet to see a compelling argument quantifying exactly how they are better to justify the price.

Photography is another hobby of mine, so take this for what its worth - I don't know how one lens can offer 35x zoom and macro and be particularly good at either. It is probably average at everything. I'm a big Canon fan and have more of their stuff than I care to admit. The S95 is a great point and shoot and I suspect that is also a nice camera. But, if you want a good camera that offers everything you are looking for in one package, perhaps an SLR with a macro lens and a nice telephoto is worth considering.

How much chipping is there? If the chips are big enough that the gasket from the bulkhead doesn't cover it, I'd honestly be worried about cracks forming. Make sure any chips are nice and smooth. You may be able to sand them or something to make sure they don't form cracks. Adding water to your sump won't change the water level in the display. If the water is not high enough in the display, you may need to raise the overflow box so the teeth are higher. A stronger pump may push the water higher because there is more flow through the teeth, but IMHO, that's not a great solution. Also, FWIW, saltwater is a little quieter than fresh water.
-
How does an overflow cover change your water level? Sounds more like algae or something was obstructing the teeth.
-
I thought about that. And then I decided that if they can jump al the way up there, then they can flop around until they fall off the side back into the water. With it below the lip, they are less likely to flop off behind the tank because hopefully they would hit the trim and bounce back the other way towards the water.

I bought one of his covers. Looks nice, works great. There's nothing real fancy about it - other than its finished and ready to go and you don't have to mess with making it yourself.

I dont glue in the last piece of the drain and use a barb fitting with silicone tubing to attach the pump.

Day 9 Algae is still growing but it really seems to be thinning. I will probably scub it again in the next day or so. Some sps are starting to become more pale/pastel but polyp extension has increased. I'm not sure what to make of it.
-
I put a 150 de halide in it. This was before there were kits and it was completely custom.
-
I will not accept your money but I would be glad to help you out with the install. I did lots of upgrades to my old bc29. I'm in Alexandria though.
-
You'll know when everything dies. Not worth the risk IMHO.
-
Day 7. Ph seems to have flattened out. I gave it a double dose yesterday and today and won't dose this weekend. It seems like it might be thinning out. Fingers are crossed.
-
With only one drain, do not restrict it. Gate valves are better for that purpose. Also, I'd put all the adjustments somewhere easy to reach.
-
What is that valve for? Is the tank somewhere you will be able to get to the back?
-
Day 6 Still not much to speak of. Going to give it a double dose .... and maybe a dose of single malt :/
-
You could try Naga.
