  1. Yea it's got small bubbles so could be. Make sure it's not a majano nem. And if it is wear eye protection if your messing with it out of water. They can shoot water farther than you would imagine when they are messed with.
  2. I have to pick up the tank Saturday morning, if anyone could help that day let me know.
  3. I think he said 2' wide 10' long and 18" deep. Last time I got a uhaul for a drive not even half as far as this and it was like 90 bucks. Does lowes not count mileage or something like a flat fee per hour? I can PM him and see if tomorrow works.
  4. I want to pick up that 10' fiberglass stock tank from lieshman in Maryland but we just had to sell our tundra so I am hoping someone can help. I will pay for gas and your time if you need it. Text me if you could help and I will coordinate a time to pick up. 703 407 7483 paul
  5. Mazzei injectors let air into the pumps line to make a skimmer bubble. The bubbles are smaller than a needle wheel and you can use them on any skimmer. If it's an internal skimmer pump inside the body of the skimmer I am not sure how you would run it though.
  6. I have Marie injectors you can use on a regular pump to supply the skimmer. Imo they are better than needle wheels anyways.
  7. Yea I know, very interested in this talk, hopefully he can go very in depth and answer questions.
  8. Woah woah let's hold our horses Hp better than vodka and vinegar? It would have to lower nutrients better than vodka and vinegar to be better in my book.i don't think anyone worries about pH or all when carbon dosing. Some may worry about a cyano bloom but only if they are dosing too fast. Anyone know how hp controls nutrients? I used it years ago but never noticed this.
  9. Very interested in what he has to say about using hp for nutrient reduction and coral coloration. Not sure how hp would affect colorations in coral but I see how nutrient reduction would help colors.
  10. Dude beautiful shots, got any newer stuff photographed?
  11. If it gets loose you could just paint some larger brackets so they aren't real visible and secure them a little better. Ut it looks like it should be ok for a while from viewing the pic.
  12. Looking good bro! Let me know when your getting ready to collect acros again.
  13. Spur of the moment move for my parents and I gotta get all my junk out of there. Free frags if you want to come see my collection for whoever can help. Thanks Paul
  14. Man sorry to hear, let me know if you want me to help restock some acros. Let me know if you saved any of the pieces we got at the same time. I agree with Rob too and i try to never plumb the mags on calcium reactors. Ehiem or the sicce pumps is what I like.
  15. Testing the tank would be the first thing I would do let us know what the results are. Montipora have bad reactions to low magniesium in my experience. Have you checked the mag? The mag in newly setup tanks can be used up very quickly and take a while to bring the levels back up to normal. Not sure why newer tanks do this but I would check to knock it off the list. I would leave everything where it is, the Digi is all that looks bad. I see one almost dead frag on your rack so it's not confined to just the rock either. If you can keep a torch in the same small tank as an acro and the torch (or any fluffy lps) is happy, it's not too much flow. That's my rule.
  16. Sps typically don't bleach or loose color from too much direct constant flow. The flesh just peels off where it is being hit to hard with flow. If things are bleaching or loosing color I would look elsewhere. Pictures would help if your still having issues.
  17. The acros look great, and that's taking keeping montipora low in the tank and on a separate rock to another level! Thanks for sharing, I wish I could get up there and see it in person some time.
  18. Man your doing this one right! Good to see! Not that the old one was wrong though. Do you have plans for any at tanks or anything? Are you going to add only named frags from vendors? I would love to come help if you need any. Did you hook up the new water heater?
  19. Wow what a change! Its hard to tare apart a well grown reef to remove stuff like that but makes it so much easier to keep and a lot less trimming (I don't think you will ever have to stop trimming with all those growers in there though). Good move and things will look beautiful with a few new pieces and everything filled in! Not that it doesn't look beautiful already...
  20. I would guess that algaes use phosphate to make themselves grow and convert it to do so, so if my guess is right there would never be any very high amounts of phosphate in the algae. This is all a guess for me, I am sure someone will chime in. I would make sure that your salinity levels are stable and correct in range. Also make sure you have no copper or metals in your water along with no odd temperatures or swings.
  21. Doing nitrate to reduce phosphate is the best way for carbon source users with near zero nitrate readings to lower their phosphate readings. Keep testing while using this method and see if things stay balanced once you get phosphate down to a reasonable level. I like to use more of the carbon source when doing this method. But some people's tanks can't handle any large increase in carbon dosing so I don't really recommend it to many people. I would definitely suggest to keep carbon dosing especially with added bioload, which I would say is the reason for the rise in phosphate as well. Carbon dosing is a huge plus for people that use it correctly and are patient enough to do so. I don't see any negatives in using it as long as your dosing stays correct. Stopping it would make things worse imo. I would not say that changing your t5 bulbs had any direct impact on nutrient levels for you. 14 frags will not take up any amount of nutrients from your tank that you could notice. Now in a jam packed mature tank with large colonies of coral I would bet that the coral could cause a slight drop in nutrients if the bulbs were old and changed out all at once. Also be careful and keep the nitrate dosing spread out in order to see how fast the levels start to drop again.
  22. Well that's a sad update, all that time on research, work, money and thinking put into this and your taking a break when your this close :( What are the temperature swings in the summer and in the winter? What about on the very hot and very cold days, what's the swing then? I think tanks can take a much larger swing than most people think as long as the swing is constant day to day during the summer and then the winter. It would be nice to see a picture of what it's like now.
  23. Yes it looks like a flatworm. You can baster it off the rock with a turkey baster most likely, unless it's really large. Most large ones like that I have seen are the type that eat snails. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  24. Are you trying to take your refuge apart and stop using gfo? Are you trying to get different results in your coral color? I wouldn't change anything if your nutrients are where you say. That's perfect in my book. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
