Wow so i have had one of those EZblade scraper things on a magfloat i got with an old tank purchase just sitting around holding up a frag rack in the 90...since thats dry i decided to give it a shot. finally picked up some replacement blades only to find i did not have the nylon screw to go with the nut to keep the blade on the scraper...so just used a metal screw and will keep it clean/dry. WHY...JUST WHY DID I NOT USE THIS BEFORE>.....i mean what was i thinking...this is the best investment if yuo have coraline... i scraped my front pane ...cleanest is been since i set the tank up.... sorry no pics so it didnt really happen, will try to update tonight. Another rookie move have been getting some extra algea that i shouldnt and a few of telling corals (aka they look funny something is off) were showing a little color loss so started to investigate. while at my last race (last month) i dismissed a notification on my phone to check my RO filters.....completely forgot about it with alot of things going on in life (sewer drain clog....mine is 180ft plus we found and is now fixed as much as i can afford, car kids, etc excuse excuse excuse) ... and found some batteries for that TDS tester ive had an never use... figured hey ill see if i just need to clean the RO barrell.... of course was making water...about 90 gallons made with my DI completely toast....even toast colored. UGH...so need to use up this crappy TDS water.....was 26 in the barrel first time i tested.... remember the tds meter had been sitting a while so cleaned it off and second read was 40+....woops. No im going to mount my RO where i can actually see the canister rather than rely on reminders.....also noticed the water line gets alot of condensation from the humidty in the tank room, so need to get a saddle valve to tie in closer to the feed vs the sink many feet away. also debating on a RO booster pump and doing the 150gpd upgrade. otherwise not alot to update. finally got at least one doser set up on the frag tanks...now i need to get another one and tie the two tanks together. wll try to get some pics soon...just need more time to actualy do something on the to do list.

Found this Avast CS1 - 9"x10"x22" (3.75" neck) / Sicce PSK-1000 (60 watts) / 800-900 lph (28-32 scfh) air draw / 880 gph/ 200g Max Rating reef octopus pump Hailea OTP 2000 Pinwheel Pump Wattage: 21w Air Draw: 420 lph / 15 SCFH* Water Draw: 720 lph / 190 GPH Body Size: 6" Footprint: 13" x 6.7" Neck Size: 3" Total Height: 22" Im gonna say avast but im biased....i have a cs1 recirc, and they are local air draw and water draw are more, its also rated for a slightly larger tank I think the 200 is a better match to the cs1 but ask Justin/Dan.....ive asked and they have told me their personal opinion despite obviously wanting business... Also avast customer service as you probably know is nuts (most likely justin has pmd you or you can pm him and something will be figured out quickly

Why dont you just order the silencer from the other skimmer... that would give you the comparison or a fix Or route the air intake tube further away from where you sit or outside etc
-
lps next to sps is a general bad idea as the lps usually win the battle basically leave space, be ready to move if needs be look at some colonies/growth rates from other tanks. monti's grow fast and large for the most part

I have to disagree with the repopulate. IMO NEVER reuse a sponge from a qt tank, throw it out and start a new one in your main tank (i have 2 sponges in my main at all times for this purpose) if you put that sponge back into your main your more likely to spread whatever was in the qt into the main. they are cheap enough and your main is probably important enough not to risk this. Also suggest designating a bucket and syphon tube, heater, equip etc to ONLY be for the QT...label it as a reminder. or make sure yuo do a full full cleaning and let it dry before reuse if you use copper be careful reusing anything if your going to keep corals. Ridetheducati has a GREAT writeup on how he QTs, ill see if i can find a link somewhere

the amonia alert badges have failed several times for me and i no longer use them, if they work for you great, but id still test as well Check out my nano biopellet DIY reactor...that will help with bacteria colonization. Amonia is key to watch, keep in mind some meds can be lethal if there is amonia present (prazipro and amonia = bad) i put a cheap skimmer on mine and it seems to help as well, just cut off the air for medications if needs be. otherwise good info above

DC4 HD should work fine, i have a dc2 (since i only have 2 halides) on my tank...same issues with the dc8 when trying to start a dual ballast with my acIII.

Will give this a shot, should the controller run full power with out the light sensor...i just thought that is what was faulty...i took it out and it did the same thing...was gonna head to radio shack for a new sensor but havent had time yet.
-
i just had one do the same, i believe it is the controller that has the issue, lemme know how you approach it as i may have to send mine back or whatever too.

Well been meaning to do this for a while and finally took the time last night. BEYOND Simple. wanted a biopellet reactor for my smaller tank (have a 40 breeder and the other is a 30 cube) they are frag tanks so i dont really care what it looks like is the key here. What you need Drill Diet Dr. Pepper Bottle Wife (or significant other) to drink that diet poison Low GPH pump - i used one i had sitting around Mesh or sponge - small piece to protect pump and output. biopellets fishtank So i took a 20l soda bottle, drilled the cap so that the spare little pump i had could fit its output directly into the bottle cap Drilled a hole on top of the 20oz for an exit (you can seal this if you really care....i directed it to the skimmer intake. i put mesh over the pumps output so biopellets cant fall into the blades if the pump turns off, you can also put some over the "exhaust" so they dont fly out added biopellets.... turned pump on probably 10-15 min total to from start to getting the flow correct. came out like this. so far works like a charm Sorry for the crappy cell pic

haha. Dont get me wrong Very happy with my tank but when yuo hoard corals like i do it would always be nice to have more space i still need to move some rocks around on the right side of the tank and free up some room but i kinda like leaving alot of swimming room also its time to add some more flow so im either going to move around the mp40, add another and maybe put the other wp40 in there instead of the wp25. Also may finally get around to adding some carbon or GFO at some point...tired of seeing the reactors sitting there saying WHY DO YOU HAVE ME ......only had the CARX, biopellets and skimmer going to date... luckily ive done some fragging lately but the problem is YOU CANT TELL. haha. so i guess i have to do some more trimming or start another tank to store things. already broke my rule of no frag racks in this tank (currently have 2 little ones) then comes the garage sale i need to have...wife has busted me on how many reef related boxes are in the garage...hard her believing it was 3 for a loong time...she went looking for something and came back in and gave me a talking to like when i bust my daughter doing something she isnt supposed to.....like hiding my house and other keys for a week and a half

any updates, tank looks amazing
-
haha any time man just lemme know, almost always need a trim or a way to find room for another coral. Really been wanting a bigger tank lately, but then i start thinking about all the extra work for water changes, salt etc and i am happy with what i got, though i wouldnt mind a little bigger

If the outlet ring doesn't sit outside the exterior glass than either its the wrong bulk head nut or hole size

may as well update, had a good time at the races 1st 2nd 1st and was in first on the last lap of the 2nd race ..painful Disney was GREAT daughter both liked it Tank did well while i was gone (had one skimmer not turn back on in my daughters tank as the power went out at some point. not too much else new, need to get the frag tanks into a single soon, tired of dosing both.....Finally got a doser hooked up on one of the tank....CARX are just easier if you ask me. here are a couple random pics....color is a little too green/blue but what can ya do. ultimate stag alright photobucket is failing so ill post some more up later

looks like a bite or stab any tangs in the tank? any unwanted craps (gorrilla etc) that may have tried to grab it while it was sleeping? ps. combined your thread

Phosphate Solutions, and is a solution needed...
Der ABT replied to YHSublime's topic in General Discussion
are yuo running activated carbon on your rodi? i had alot of random nutrient issues from the chloramines in the water when i moved to arlington that i never had before. added the activated carbon stage and alot of things cleared up without changing my routine. though im guessing by admitting you feed too much, its more than i think....just feed a little less each time, food should dissappear withing 3-5 minutes...and i mean disappear. otherwise its gonna be alot of waste -
